I agree, I think it's nauseating and I hate it

gardenhelpneeded · 18/04/2022 21:01

I don’t have the same reaction to someone calling their dog/cat their baby. Doesn’t bother me. It’s “furbaby” bleurgh

Kids grown up. My cats are my babies and yes they are extremely pampered

Dailyfailcanfeckoff · 18/04/2022 21:07

I once had someone put in a flexible working request because of their fur babies!
Well it’s exactly like having dc I got told - now after being onthe receiving end of workplace discrimination due to having young dc and childcare arrangements that really was like nails down a blackboard.

I’d say yanbu but I’m not sure ddog agrees GrinEaster GrinGrin

How about my username 🤣🤣

Duchess379 · 18/04/2022 21:11

The term is furbies actually. 😆🐾

Millivanilla · 18/04/2022 21:11

@PurpleDaisies

It’s not what I would call my pets. Do the friends doing dog parties have kids as well?
Yeah but the kids don’t get parties 😂

Actually jokes aside, there was an article years ago in closer magazine about two women who lived their dogs more than their kids, then one of them was on this morning. Does anyone remember that? The daughter sat in the floor so the dog could sit on the sofa and the dogs had parties, the kids didn’t and the dogs had chicken and veg while the kids had freezer food and they spent more on clothes and toys for the kids. I’m going to see if there’s a closer magazine archive somewhere so I can find it.

GilesRupert · 18/04/2022 21:15

It's annoying but I can tolerate it.

"Tiny human" is another story. BARF.

FurMaybe · 18/04/2022 21:15

I cringe easily wrt twee anything but I call my fur baby furbaby Grin. I adore him, he provides me with my daily dose of oxytocin and he is very fury. I occasionally call me piglet, mongrel, hound or puppy (he is quite senior not a puppy). I would never ever have thought I could love my dog as much as I do. He is my furbaby. Easter Biscuit

gardenhelpneeded · 18/04/2022 21:15

@Georgeskitchen but are they your babies or your furbabies?

YANBU makes me want to vomit

Eeksteek · 18/04/2022 21:17

I find it annoying unless it’s tongue in cheek (I know someone who writes FB posts from her dogs’ POV with poor grammar etc, and it’s very amusing. I’m certain she is more than sensible about them in real life and it’s a dog group, so I think it’s appropriate and funny). I don’t like it when people are genuinely sickening cutesy over their pets, despite having my own pets and adoring them. They are not people, and it’s often not in their best interests to treat them as such.

GoodJanetBadJanet · 18/04/2022 21:18

YANBU

Yeh it makes me cringe too.

buckleten · 18/04/2022 21:20

My kids are my girls, and my dogs are my special boys!

drpet49 · 18/04/2022 21:20

YANBU, the term is so cringeworthy.

MintyGreenDream · 18/04/2022 21:22

No harm in it.Its just a term of affection 🤷‍♀️

tkwal · 18/04/2022 21:22

YANBU. Definitely

Worldwide2 · 18/04/2022 21:22

Yeah can't stand it either. Absolute cringes me out.

GoodJanetBadJanet · 18/04/2022 21:22

Isn't that a really annoying toy fad from the 90s, hated those things lol

Rewritethestars1 · 18/04/2022 21:23

@Millivanilla this could actually be a friend of mine if it wasn't ages ago ha. She does care for her dc well don't get me wrong but sounds more in her dog and talks incessantly about it never about her dc. When her dc fall they are told to getbon with it but when her dog does anything its look at him how cute and using a baby voice.

Rewritethestars1 · 18/04/2022 21:24

Spends more even

Glugglejug · 18/04/2022 21:25

Child free here, and the more time I spend with other people’s children the more I love my cat!
