Prince Harry founded The Invictus Games. These games have a serious point, a real purpose and offer a real contribution to reminding us of the significant service and personal sacrifice by injured armed forces personnel. The competitors are certainly inspiring, showing examples of how determination and training can overcome disability.
Never was there a greater contrast in the Royal Family, showing these games and an articulate Harry and Meghan promoting them and the total pantomime of Prince William and the female Royals parading in new outfits on the way to Easter Service.
I'm no royalist and want the whole institution abolished - but what a contrast this was! Or am IBU?

I think Harry's heart was in the right place when he got behind the invictus games. It's a shame he's not allowed to get on with it without people cannonising him for making the effort. It gets a bit sickening that it has turned into an H&M vehicle. I'm pretty sure Harry himself would prefer for the focus to be on the service people themselves as I am no fan of his but its clear by his life's actions that it's something important to him.

As for Wills and Kate, again no fan and don't subscribe to the "I'd rather not have their job" school of thought because if my day job was rocking up at boring occasions and making nice I'd do it. It must be exhausting being in the public eye and having your dc under that kind of pressure and for William for that to be normal for the kids, it's quite sad.

I do think it's a poor do that H&M are having a cake and eat it version of royal life: fame and wealth but none of the boring bits. I reckon they should actually be the private individuals they say they want to be. I'd happily never hear about them again.

William and Kate are different they are part of the permanency of British culture and whilst I'd happily see it pass away others value it so I put up with the royal pantomime.

If I were getting an award and I was given the choice of getting it from Queen Elizabeth or Wanttobehappy123, Wanttobehappy isn't going to get a look in. I'd rather get it from her than any politician too. And I guess a lot of people feel like that and that's what makes them so special.

Oh come off it. I cannot bear the institution of the royal family and would like it to be abolished, but accusing Harry and Meghan of 'using injured veterans', is a bit of a reach.

Harry needs the Netfliks crew to follow him so he can benefit financially.

This is Harry who apparently said over the weekend that he wouldn’t stop until a fairer, more equal society had been created for his children. (I might be slightly paraphrasing).

Is this the same Harry who threw a fit because his children weren’t going to get royal titles??

Oh he does give me a laugh. It’s not his fault he’s thick I suppose.

I too was a bit gobsmacked that a multi millionaire who only travels private/ first class and requires a huge mansion with staff should say he wants a more equal world . Maybe drop the titles ? It will be interesting to see if H and M accept titles for their DC when Charles becomes King ! Any bets ?

Best bit was Prince Edwards tantrum

That brings me back, Edward, Anne, Fergie and Andrew larking about in medieval costumes in the 80s hahaha. An absolute shocker, at the same time it was a laugh.

Edward is a lot like Harry, wanted to break away from the Royal Family. I am a bit soft and always had some sympathy for Edward, he gave things a go but it never quite worked out and ended back in The Firm. I am glad to see him happily married with kids these days, his daughter seems lovely.

If you're thinking of OBEs, CBEs and so on you wouldn't get the chance; the Queen stopped doing these investitures ages ago and Charles steps in instead

W & K have often had camera crews with them. But it's OK for them to do this.

Why self-promotion? - why not promotion for the games themselves?

Why always interpret everything H & M do in a negative way?

Harry will always be of public interest he will always be viewed as public property he can not escape that

The Royals have released books they have advised plenty of writers it’s not new.

And The Royals had their own fly on the wall documentary it didn’t prove to be particularly popular as it showed how out of touch they are

I like him and he's a sincere well meaning man. He's one of the few public figures who supports family farms. I admire his initiative at Dumfries House and the Princes Trust. No doubt you'll snort with derision at these. It's easy to sneer but far harder to initiate projects and keep them going.

Lots of people do good things. What's the difference with him apart from that you've seen him on tv and he wears expensive clothes?

He's lived a life of pampered luxury that I can't say I have any respect for.

Only people at a certain level of income can do good things according to you. What do you do for the good of everyone?

Where did I say that? Plenty of rich people have earned their own money. Most people get through their day to day lives without battalions of staff.

This page 6 article shows exactly how much was "on parade" as Meghan attending the Invictus games...

Thai is why I respect the RF far more when they own that they’re elitist and wealthy. Taking all the benefits but then preaching about poverty is so unbelievably short sighted and off the mark it’s unreal. Harry pretending he relates to the people is fucking patronising, at least the rest of them own up to being ‘the other half’.
