I have zero covid symptoms
I've had all 3 jabs she's had none
She doesn't believe in using anti bac /hand gel (fair enough )
Yet she had the audacity to ask me to do a lateral flow?
Aibu to think it's cheeky ?

I don't think there is any harm in asking if she's concerned about it. You can say no. That being said, if she's not using hand gel etc. it seems a bit excessive.

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 16/04/2022 20:58

Yabvu. Where's the harm in checking?

PansyPetunia · 16/04/2022 20:58

did she ask to see the result?

AllFreeOwls · 16/04/2022 20:59

I think it depends? Is she ECV? Has she got something important coming up that she can't risk missing? I don't think bring cautious is a reason to be upset with her.

Theunamedcat · 16/04/2022 20:59

So a covid denier? Or antivaxer? Or just strange

emmathedilemma · 16/04/2022 20:59

Probably sensible rather than cheeky given that she’s not been vaccinated!

BuanoKubiamVej · 16/04/2022 21:01

It wouldn't be unreasonable if it was someone who has had all the jabs they can and takes all the precautions they can. If they couldn't have the vaccines for some reason then yes fair enough. But this person isn't putting any priority at all on putting effort in herself to limit risks, and LFTs are no longer free, so no she is being cheeky.

amicissimma · 16/04/2022 21:03

In those circumstances I would ask her to provide the test.

Twingo78 · 16/04/2022 21:03

Did she do one too?! 🤷🏼‍♀️

ThinWomansBrain · 16/04/2022 21:06

if she was immuno compromised - fair enough
Hasn't been arsed to get vaccinated or use hand sanitiser - only if she pays for the test.

Nelliephant1 · 16/04/2022 21:07

Not at all. Your friend was being immensely sensible.

dementedpixie · 16/04/2022 21:08

Hand sanitiser is pointless theatre for an airborne virus. I dont think she's cheeky to ask you to test

Excited101 · 16/04/2022 21:10

YABVU

dudsville · 16/04/2022 21:10

Not enough info here, but I wouldn't presume cheekiness based on what you've told us.

MoreKidsThanHotDinners · 16/04/2022 21:11

Bit hypocritical if you ask me

JustLyra · 16/04/2022 21:11

Depends why she hasn’t had the vaccines.

If it’s because she’s a covid denier generally then it’s odd.

If it’s because she couldn’t have them then it’s eminently sensible of her.

If it’s neither of these but your DH/kids/person you had lunch with on Thursday have covid also sensible.

TheSnowyOwl · 16/04/2022 21:12

YABU and of course it’s not cheeky. You don’t have to meet up with her if you object to doing one.

SeedyBloomer · 16/04/2022 21:15

Yes, she’s cheeky. She’s the unvaccinated one who doesn’t use hand gel. Why should the onus be on everyone else to do their bit and protect her when she can’t even be arsed to do as much as keep her hands clean. Is she offering proof to you that she is safe to be around?

PurpleDaisies · 16/04/2022 21:16

Strange for someone who hasn’t been vaccinated and doesn’t believe in anti bac is a fan of lateral flow tests.
What’s the story there?

mcmooberry · 16/04/2022 21:17

Totally cheeky imo. Is she doing one herself and why is she asking you to do one? As in, because she is travelling soon, is very worried about catching Covid (seems unlikely if no vaccines) or something else?

AtLeastPretendToCare · 16/04/2022 21:17

Will she be doing one? If so ok I suppose but she can piss off if she sees this as one way traffic.

QueenCamilla · 16/04/2022 21:19

She's being very unreasonable. Unless imuno-compromised?

MintJulia · 16/04/2022 21:19

Does she has health anxiety?

Is she immuno-supressed or is anyone in her immediate household? Is she visiting a nursing home in the next few days? Or a very elderly relative?

It isn't unreasonable for her to ask. If you don't want to, just say so.

MrsJBaptiste · 16/04/2022 21:21

Just tell you did one and it was negative. Job done.

SquirrelG · 16/04/2022 21:22

Yes, she is being cheeky. If she isn't vaccinated and doesn't use hand gel she can't be too concerned about covid, so asking for a test is ridiculous. Does she ask everyone to do a test before she meets up with them?
