I have zero covid symptoms
I've had all 3 jabs she's had none
She doesn't believe in using anti bac /hand gel (fair enough )
Yet she had the audacity to ask me to do a lateral flow?
Aibu to think it's cheeky ?

She sounds like a moron, I’d have understood her asking if she was taking all the precautions not to catch it; vaccinations, mask and hand gel. But as she’s doing nothing to protect herself then it’s ridiculous to ask you that

Blueeilidh · 16/04/2022 21:33

A bit strange perhaps but not cheeky

PegsandBags · 16/04/2022 21:36

I wonder how accurate LFTs are. My friend was due to go to the States tomorrow, long awaited trip to see family. Took LFTs for the past three days all negative, but the supervised antigen for travel came back positive. No trip.

passport123 · 16/04/2022 21:37

@Nelliephant1

Not at all. Your friend was being immensely sensible.
Her unvaccinated friend is the opposite of sensible.....
PegsandBags · 16/04/2022 21:38

BTW friend had tested positive for Covid two weeks ago, so was well outside the isolation period and stayed at home in order to get well for the trip. Bummer for her.

Neverreturntoathread · 16/04/2022 21:38

If she’s vulnerable/ elderly then fair enough - although she should really offer tonoag for the test.

If she isn’t then it’s a bit weird. A lot of people have ‘gone a bit funny’ driven over the edge by the constantly changing covid advice.

ConsuelaHammock · 16/04/2022 21:41

Depends on why she isn’t vaccinated. If she’s anti vaccine then it’s incredibly cheeky.

what about the non use of hand gel?
Partyatnumber10 · 16/04/2022 21:49

So she won't take any precautions for herself but she wants you to do it for her??
Presumably paying for the test too?
Yes that's a bit cheeky.
In your shoes I would probably do it and wouldn't say anything but I'd be rolling my eyes a bit.

reeedleed · 16/04/2022 21:56

She doesn't trust the vaccines
She is fit and healthy and no one in the family has health issues.

OP posts:
Luredbyapomegranate · 16/04/2022 21:59

If she is just an anti Vaxer then yes she’s being unreasonable. Just ignore.

It’s not fair enough to not believe in washing your hands/ using hand sanitizer.

Anoisagusaris · 16/04/2022 21:59

@reeedleed

In that case I’d refuse and say it’s because I don’t trust lfts 😆
User1367349 · 16/04/2022 22:01

It’s reasonable to ask for lateral flow, given prevalence is pretty close to an all time high and
many people’s vaccine immunity will be wearing off.

It’s daft not to be vaccinated and to not bother with hand gel etc.

Gunpowder · 16/04/2022 22:01

Meh! I couldn’t get worked up about this. Covid cases are ridiculously high at the moment. However I’d expect her to do a lft too.

Saracenia · 16/04/2022 22:02

Not cheeky at all. She's a friend not some random stranger.

comealongponds · 16/04/2022 22:03

she can’t be that bothered if she refuses the most basic measures to protect herself, so YANBU

(If she was genuinely concerned and had done everything possible to protect herself it wouldn’t be unreasonable to ask you to do a LFT though(

duskyspringfield · 16/04/2022 22:03

YABVU

Iggly · 16/04/2022 22:03

Being anti vax doesn’t automatically mean you don’t think covid is serious.

I would do a LFT and try and listen to her to find out her worries about the vaccine.

BritWifeInUSA · 16/04/2022 22:04

What hood would anti-bac hand gel do against a virus? I don’t see the relevance of mentioning that she won’t/doesn’t use anti-bac.

Groovee · 16/04/2022 22:04

Would she be doing one too?

BritWifeInUSA · 16/04/2022 22:04

What good…

LittleEsme · 16/04/2022 22:05

Just go with it OP.
I'm reasonably healthy and strong, triple jabbed and very careful. I've also lost 3 weeks of my life to my very first dose of covid very recently and despite being a week on my feet again, I am by no means normal (nausea, hard of hearing, poor memory and vertigo). It's knocked the stuffing out of me.

I'm very wary of catching this again yet DH barely felt it. It's so strange, just do the LFT if it makes her feel better.

NB I've not RTFT, so apologies if there's been more informative other than the OP.

crackingreward · 16/04/2022 22:07

We always do LFTs before meeting up with someone so it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I don't agree that her reasons for being in vaccinated are relevant here at all, and the hand gel? Meh. If she wants to be careful when meeting people then that's perfectly reasonable. It's up to you whether you do it, it it's hardly a hardship to swab your nose.

LadyBadenPowellsHat · 16/04/2022 22:11

If she's doing one too when she asks someone else to, I don't see the problem.

I took one this morning before I was meant to meet my friend and I'm positive. Hate to think how many people I could have infected if I hadn't.

CurbsideProphet · 16/04/2022 22:18

I'm pregnant so everyone does a test before they come to my house, even if they're just dropping something off for me. I don't ask them to and we're all triple jabbed. Family and friends see it as good manners. I'm really dubious that someone who doesn't trust vaccines or hand sanitiser would trust a LFT?
