Dear X and X,

Thank you so much for my gift, I love it. Here's what I have been up to. Mummy and Daddy say hi etc etc

Love baby

YANBU - annoying and cringe

Yanbu, just write the note from the parents, cringe…

Redglitter · 13/04/2022 23:09

YANBU 🙄

707smile · 13/04/2022 23:09

It's fine- sort of annoying but quite sweet.

Kite22 · 13/04/2022 23:09

Neither really.

I mean, it isn't what I would do, but I couldn't use energy getting worked up about it.

Oh, wait - are you asking if you should do it ? In which case, no, I wouldn't.

WarmSausageTea · 13/04/2022 23:10

Not my thing, but I’d take it in the spirit it’s intended, and I’d definitely appreciate the effort of sending a thank you note.

Mumdiva99 · 13/04/2022 23:11

Cute.....include a photo of the baby too.

Cherrysherbet · 13/04/2022 23:11

Cringe

Viviennemary · 13/04/2022 23:11

I think it's quite cute.

Grilledaubergines · 13/04/2022 23:11

Oh it’s sweet and so bloody harmless. Don’t piss on the joy of parents to a newborn!

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 13/04/2022 23:12

This!!
Scirocco · 13/04/2022 23:15

I think it depends on the recipient. For example, there are some people I know love to receive notes like that and absolutely treasure them, while some other people would really dislike it.

toastofthetown · 13/04/2022 23:15

I'd be grateful to get a thank you note, whoever it was addressed from.

Cringe!!!

It’s almost as cringe as when a new born baby buys a present to give to their older sibling Grin

I’m pretty sure that most children know that new born babies can’t pop to the shops to buy gifts, just as most adults realise that babies can’t write letters Grin Grin

We live in a mad world Grin

And yet every Mother’s Day there will be countless posts from women whose husbands/ partners didn’t get them a card and gift ‘from’ their baby/ toddler.

Obviously you know it’s not literally from the baby but it shows a level of thought and acknowledgement from the person who has really sent the gift (Eg: the parent). I can see how it could be cringey but surely better than getting nothing.

Flittingaboutagain · 13/04/2022 23:29

Harmless, cringey newborn goodness!

Lalliella · 13/04/2022 23:29

Cute. YABU.

This.

Let them crack on with it and take it how it was intended. Yeah, it's cringe but it's harmless cringe and everyone with a small baby (especially a first baby) is allowed to act in ways that others consider cringe.

RedHerring24 · 13/04/2022 23:32

Dont see the issue personally. Some family members will cherish a card/letter like that.

Tlollj · 13/04/2022 23:33

My 4 month old grandson texts me.

PlasticineMeg · 13/04/2022 23:34

Cringe. But forgivable - that newborn “my baby is the most amazing baby ever” bubble is intense!

I'd appreciate the note regardless of who you would sign it from but I'm also unapologetically the sort of person that would sign from the child.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 13/04/2022 23:36

I wouldn't mind, I probably wouldn't do it, but I'd smile if I received it.

The friend who is posting on Instagram as her puppy (sample: "I is enjoying walkies in the park with hoomum") on the other hand...
