Dear X and X,

Thank you so much for my gift, I love it. Here's what I have been up to. Mummy and Daddy say hi etc etc

Love baby

YANBU - annoying and cringe
YABU - babies love to write, stop being grumpy

A thank you note is polite, one "from" the baby is absolutely harmless and probably a bit tongue in cheek. I'd be happy to receive it.

AxolotlEars · 13/04/2022 23:39

Honestly?! I think I would just be thrilled, these days, that someone wrote and said thank you for something 🤣

Somatronic · 13/04/2022 23:40

I received a card from a foetus once. True story.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 13/04/2022 23:41

It's not so bad considering pets have their own IG and post their feelings.
I find the latter far more cringe.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 13/04/2022 23:41

Some pets.

Oxborn · 13/04/2022 23:42

I think you should reply to baby Smile

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 13/04/2022 23:43

I get regular texts from my brother's kitten. My brother is 55 years old btwGrin

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 13/04/2022 23:43

Yabu it's cute and harmless

Phewthemutinyworked · 13/04/2022 23:45

I actually wonder why the parents could be bothered…nowadays a big verbal thank you or text is more than adequate!

ToothGrinder · 13/04/2022 23:46

Cute. The parents are tits deep in shit, milk, nappies, sleep deprivation and newborn have-I-broken-the-baby terror but they're loved up enough with the child itself to still think he or she requires and deserves proclamation. We all need someone on our side.

Qwill · 13/04/2022 23:49

It’s just a bit of a joke isn’t it? My husband sends me Mother’s Day cards from our children, I didn’t really even think about it being weird? I sign cards from us and the children and have sent my parents cards from the baby as I know they love that sort of thing. I’ve also received cards from people and they’ve put their pet’s name on it. I don’t think I’ve really thought about it until now, and now that I have, I’m still don’t really have an opinion on it 😂

Qwill · 13/04/2022 23:51

But now, thinking about it, don’t people address cards and present to ‘the baby’. Especially birthdays and Christmas. So if you do that, knowing a baby can’t read, then not sure how it’s different? So no, I don’t think saying thanks from the baby is all that odd if the present giver has addressed the present to the baby.

ToothGrinder · 13/04/2022 23:52

Pet Instagram is end of days stuff tho. Really.

veevee04 · 13/04/2022 23:56

Cringe must be PFB

AhhhHereItGoes · 13/04/2022 23:57

Who cares?

They've been polite enough to thank you don't been an arse.

Divebar2021 · 14/04/2022 00:00

Someone wrote you an actual thank you note and this is your response?

Cryingbutstilltrying · 14/04/2022 00:00

I think it’s sweet tbh.
I’d be glad to get a thank you, and if there’s a photo of the baby too that’s all good.
I didn’t send them myself, because I was hallucinating through lack of sleep. So if I got one I would be impressed and happy.

Wedonttalkaboutrats · 14/04/2022 00:01

Meh. It’s not like they actually think you’re going to believe it’s from the baby. They’re just very over excited new parents who haven’t yet realised that doing stuff like that is hideously cringe.

greenlynx · 14/04/2022 00:03

I wouldn’t do it but I would be ok to receive it. Lucky baby - her parents are polite and have sense of humor.

I think it' quite sweet, personal taste really, but meant well. TBH, I would just be impressed they have sent their thank you notes out so quickly with a newborn to look after.

MinesATriple · 14/04/2022 00:06

YABU. They're just excited.

I'm less tolerant with pets though.

Notonthestairs · 14/04/2022 00:06

So parents of 3 week old baby found time to write a thank you card.
And you start a MN to whine about it.
How lovely.

Wnkingawalrus · 14/04/2022 00:11

Don’t be so bloody miserable.

And well done go the parents of a 3 week old for finding the energy to send a thank you note!

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 14/04/2022 00:13

Will you send the baby a birthday card on their first birthday despite the fact that they won’t read it?

YABU. It’s harmless. Don’t be a twat.
