Dear X and X,

Thank you so much for my gift, I love it. Here's what I have been up to. Mummy and Daddy say hi etc etc

Love baby

YANBU - annoying and cringe
YABU - babies love to write, stop being grumpy

Harmless but a bit precious-first-born daft. I'd be happy to have received a thank you though, however it's written.

TheMoreYouKnow · 14/04/2022 01:13

Thought this was another one of those boasting posts! Grin

maddening · 14/04/2022 01:13

I like it and would not find it cringe

ZerotwoZero · 14/04/2022 01:16

Straight in the bin sorry Grin , I hate stuff like this cringe.

CarmenThePanda · 14/04/2022 01:17

YABU

Oh good lord. Please can we all just stop being critical and whingey and snotty and angry and picky and just so fucking depressing… and allow a little joy, air and leeway?

Really. What’s the big deal either way? A thank you is a thank you, and if happily offered what does it take to accept with grace and a smile?

CakesOfVersailles · 14/04/2022 01:38

I wouldn't do it, but I would appreciate it if I was sent it.

MeasureTwice · 14/04/2022 01:41

If you're asking if you should do this, do it if you want to. You'll never please everyone, so might as well please yourself.

If you're asking if YABU to cringe, well, yes and no. It can't possibly make any difference to anyone else how someone chooses to write their thank-you notes. I suppose you can't help it if you think it's cringeworthy, and if I already didn't like the person, I might roll my eyes. But honestly, it's harmless, and if I liked the person, I'd probably think it was cute.

CJsGoldfish · 14/04/2022 02:04

Cringe.

1forAll74 · 14/04/2022 02:44

I bought some dog biscuits for a neighbours dog once. and got a little letter from the dog, saying thanks for getting me some biscuits, I have eaten some already, luv from Danny (that's the dog )

CutesyUserName · 14/04/2022 02:52

Not my sort of thing at all, but as a PP said, it depends on the recipient. I think it's cringey, but there are some people who would find it cute, funny and touching.

Tlollj · 14/04/2022 07:10

My mum puts the dogs name in Christmas cards. Now that’s weird.

OverByYer · 14/04/2022 07:11

Don’t be so bloody miserable

Gizacluethen · 14/04/2022 07:11

Does it matter? They said thank you. All these rules for how to say thank you without annoying the other person. Stop giving gifts if you're gonna complain about it

ExplodingElephants · 14/04/2022 07:12

Aww, it’s sweet. It’s not affecting you in any way whatsoever so let them just get on with it and stop being so grumpy.

Obelisk · 14/04/2022 07:13

Quite sweet and an impressively prompt thank you letter given they have a newborn.

gavisconismyfriend · 14/04/2022 07:20

It is lovely that the family are taking the time to write thank you notes when the baby is only 3 weeks old. I wouldn’t mind whether it was signed by the parents or written as if by the baby, I’d just be really touched that they’d taken the time (and found the energy) to do it at all.

cigarettesNalcohol · 14/04/2022 07:23

Parents obviously keen to thank everyone and have taken time to send notes. Don't be grumpy Smile
I would have sent a text personally.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 14/04/2022 07:24

Ahh, it wouldn't bother me. Can't believe that people would get "annoyed" over something so small.

Sirzy · 14/04/2022 07:24

They have a newborn baby. They have found time to write and send out thank you cards and people still find reason to criticise!

I find it cute but it doesn’t matter if you do or don’t just be thankful they have made the effort at what is probably a rather busy time!

londonrach · 14/04/2022 07:25

Neither. It's a thank you card. Who cares who wrote it. Include a photo of baby x

AchillesPoirot · 14/04/2022 07:25

I wouldn’t have done it but I wouldn’t get worked up about it.

I send birthday cards to the kids next door from the cat though so I’m probably worse.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 14/04/2022 07:25

Ridiculous

DrSbaitso · 14/04/2022 07:30

They accepted the gift with good grace and a bit of twee humour. If you can't be twee when you've got a newborn, when can you?

UnsuitableHat · 14/04/2022 07:30

Aw, it’s a bit twee but come on…And at least you got a thank you 😊

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 14/04/2022 07:30

Oh, give over. It's funny and sweet.

I used to get a birthday card from my Nanny's dog.
