Dear X and X,

Thank you so much for my gift, I love it. Here's what I have been up to. Mummy and Daddy say hi etc etc

Love baby

YANBU - annoying and cringe
YABU - babies love to write, stop being grumpy

Yabu
Probably proud first time parents
Won't happen 2nd time round 🤣

Just10moreminutesplease · 14/04/2022 08:19

It’s very cringe (but also something I would have done in the hormonal new born stage… and still occasionally do for grandparents now he’s one Grin).

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 14/04/2022 08:20

I sent a thank you text from my car to my SIL....

Littlegoth · 14/04/2022 08:21

I did this 😂 cringe away, I’m not sorry 😂

Littlegoth · 14/04/2022 08:22

@Georgeskitchen if I’m lucky enough to have baby 2, it definitely will 😂

beenaroundtheblox · 14/04/2022 08:24

A bit cringeworthy but they are doing well to have thank you notes ready by three weeks

GrapesThatThrive · 14/04/2022 08:24

God just when you think MN can't suck any more joy from life, it finds a way...

Thesefeetaremadeforwalking · 14/04/2022 08:27

YABU that's cute

Favourodds · 14/04/2022 08:28

Don't people always write thank you notes from their children? The vast majority of thank you cards I get (and send) are along the lines of:

Dear XX

Thank you so much for my lovely XX. I had a very fun (reason for gift).

Love XX (help them do a bit of scribbling for their name)

MN - why you so weird?

LowlyTheWorm · 14/04/2022 08:29

YABU
i’m impressed any parent of a 3 week old had the time and inclination to write any thank you note.

User839516 · 14/04/2022 08:36

Definitely cringe but absolutely wouldn’t make me grumpy!! Lighten up!

SpringHasSprungYay · 14/04/2022 08:36

Meh.

SpringHasSprungYay · 14/04/2022 08:38

@1forAll74

I bought some dog biscuits for a neighbours dog once. and got a little letter from the dog, saying thanks for getting me some biscuits, I have eaten some already, luv from Danny (that's the dog )
Cute 😁
TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 14/04/2022 08:50

@WhereDoesThisToiletGo

I sent a thank you text from my car to my SIL....
Car ! Lucky you!

I only had one from the oven, and a badly scribbled note from a mop. Sad

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/04/2022 08:53

I’d just be pleased that they’d bothered to write a thank-you note.
It seems to be a dying art nowadays.

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 14/04/2022 08:58

Many of you need to know that you will be a lot happier when you aren’t looking for reasons to judge and snipe and criticise. Give it a try. You’ll have to step away from the misanthropy of MN though.

‘Cringe’. Give me strength. It’s not even an adjective.

gingerbiscuits · 14/04/2022 09:00

@WarmSausageTea

Not my thing, but I’d take it in the spirit it’s intended, and I’d definitely appreciate the effort of sending a thank you note.
This!⬆️ Bit of harmless, well intended cringe. No big deal. I'd be super impressed & appreciative that they found the time to even write thank you notes with a newborn to look after!!
Stylishkidintheriot · 14/04/2022 09:02

A bit cringe. But I totally did that when DS was a baby.

ArtVandalay · 14/04/2022 09:10

Bleurgh. I bet those parents think that’s just adorable.

Dumbledoressister · 14/04/2022 09:12

YABU and a bit mean. It's also a quicker way of writing a thank you card in my experience. TBH I'm always impressed when new parents have time to write anything at all.

IncompleteSenten · 14/04/2022 09:14

Neither really. I wouldn't do it but I'm impressed someone who gave birth 3 weeks ago has it together enough to do it.

Threeboysandadog · 14/04/2022 09:16

YABU

My dog writes his own thank you notes.

maddy68 · 14/04/2022 09:16

I think it's cute

Strugglingtodomybest · 14/04/2022 09:17

YABU. It’s harmless. Don’t be a twat.

This.

Honestly, why so humourless?!

MissChanandlerBong80 · 14/04/2022 09:33

So few people bother with thank you notes. I think it’s a really nice thing to do even if writing it from the baby is a bit twee.
