Just as the title says.

Noah Donohoe disappeared coming home from school, his body was found in a storm drain without his clothes.

His mother can not get answers on why the police decided, immediately that there was no four play and us being blocked from seeing 4 files by the police.

She says On the day Noah was found, before Noah was formally identified, the Police did a media release stating that there was ‘No Foul Play’ involved.I ask, if the police are so sure that ‘No Foul Play’ was involved, why are the police now trying to stop me, as Noah’s mummy, getting four files of information on Noah’s investigation?

Surely I am not unreasonable to think this isn't ok and that most of use would want to know what had happened to our child?

This is an overview of what has happened so far.

I am shocked by this. I’m aware of the case and I’m aware that there was information withheld but for some reason I imagined that the withholding of information was to protect Noah or his family. God I’m very naive.

Surely this can’t be allowed to happen.

TheRealMrsMac · 26/03/2022 21:10

GDPR
The police aren't wanting to redact the files because of GDPR. They are, publicly at least, claiming 'public interest' ie seeking a public interest immunity certificate.

This smack of establishment peado rings to me.

EmmaH2022 · 26/03/2022 21:16

I was wondering how easy or hard it is to access a storm drain.

Saying "no foul play" from the start seems bizarre.

Silversprinkles · 26/03/2022 21:27

@SantaHat

I wonder if they royally fucked up and are desperate to hide that fact

I’d be willing to put money on it

Me too. Police incompetence seems the most likely thing.
TheRealMrsMac · 26/03/2022 21:43

Here it is:
The family of Noah Donohoe are entitled to "transparency and answers as opposed to secrecy and cover-up", Sinn Féin MLA Gerry Kelly has told a meeting of the Policing Board.

Following his meeting with the Board, Mr Kelly said: "On 2nd November 2021 at a Policing Board meeting, I asked the PSNI Chief Constable to withdraw any application to redact or withhold information from Fiona Donohoe, Noah Donohoe's mother. I was told there would be a decision within weeks.

"Today, four months later, I had to repeat that ask at another public session of the Policing Board. There is still no decision.

"Public Interest Immunity certificates (PII) are used to hold back information. They were and are extensively used to hold back information in conflict legacy cases.

"This inquest is about the death of a 14-year-old child. It is not conflict related.

"There is an unprecedented petition of 300,000 signatures supporting Fiona Donohoe's plea to see all the evidence at the Coroner's inquest into her son's death.

"Fiona Donohoe deserves and is entitled to transparency and answers as opposed to secrecy and cover-up.

"This is a Stephen Lawrence moment for the PSNI.

"They need to act with urgency to show they are more interested in victims than in holding back information. If 'public interest' is the reason given then they must understand that Noah's mother getting the whole truth is, surely, in the public interest."

You have to wonder who are the 7 or so posters who have voted YABU and why they have. Come on - don't just vote - explain yourselves please? I really would like to know your reasoning.

This happens so much. Vote, run and hide.🙄

I vote YABU simply because nothing can be gained. No matter how tragic a loss it may be, nothing will change. Honestly, everyone on this thread who is fretting over it is effectively using it for their Saturday night entertainment and that’s it. Hmm

Um....if someone inflicted this on him and that person is still out there, surely it would be a "gain" to find him? Getting information out there might help with that.

that aside from the fact that a parent deserves some information about what happened, and what's available is being kept from her.

Bloody hell.
ScrummyDiva2 · 26/03/2022 22:41

Is it ok to link the thread that links the petition? Or will that result in this thread being removed????

TheRealMrsMac · 26/03/2022 22:42

Here's another thread about Noah:

There was an autopsy. Allegedly. Many questions surrounding it

I've avoided linking to that thread or linking to the petition, @ScrummyDiva2 - much as I'd like to! I don't want to risk OP's thread being removed or moved to a backwater. Hopefully people will find it though. Thank you for thinking of it.
Mamette · 26/03/2022 22:45

I vote YABU simply because nothing can be gained.

Of course something can be gained.

By that rationale no crime or murder would ever be investigated Confused

Jamboree01 · 26/03/2022 22:45

Post mortem

CatChant · 26/03/2022 22:47

Truth and justice is always worth gaining.

Fiona Donohoe has lost her beloved child in the most horrible way. The least she deserves is to know the truth.

unspeakableIsUnbearable · 26/03/2022 22:56

The whole police response is appalling.

The silence from media and elected politicians has been deafening.

The suggestions of how this death occurred have been beyond ridiculous.

The arrest of his mum has been staggering.

Where is the police ombudsman?

Police ombudsman has already been invoked. Consists of 12 ex RUC and PSNI

Only hope is chief lady justice as the coroner is accountable to her

Jamboree01 · 26/03/2022 23:06

Involved

StarbucksSmarterSister · 26/03/2022 23:15

My understanding was that Noah had had a fall and suffered a brain injury

That was the original assumption but I don't think the autopsy mentions any head injury.

The whole thing is a disgrace. I feel so sorry for Fiona.
