Just as the title says.

Noah Donohoe disappeared coming home from school, his body was found in a storm drain without his clothes.

His mother can not get answers on why the police decided, immediately that there was no four play and us being blocked from seeing 4 files by the police.

She says On the day Noah was found, before Noah was formally identified, the Police did a media release stating that there was ‘No Foul Play’ involved.I ask, if the police are so sure that ‘No Foul Play’ was involved, why are the police now trying to stop me, as Noah’s mummy, getting four files of information on Noah’s investigation?

Surely I am not unreasonable to think this isn't ok and that most of use would want to know what had happened to our child?

This is an overview of what has happened so far.

Noah was going out to meet friends on a Sunday afternoon not coming home from school.Other than that everything OP said is true. His poor mother deserves the truth, no matter how much the police had messed up initially

Quite right. It has been correct and I did apologise.

No idea why it was stuck in my head that it happened on his way home from school.
This BBC report includes a little about Noah - the lovely boy he was.

The police are very much 'there's nothing to see here' - and they were, pretty much right from the start, from when Noah's body was found.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-53209908
They were Nothing to see here since the child disappeared. There was no urgency, followed by misinformation and a request that people check their sheds. Then there was a massive public search. Literally 100's of people disturbing stuff and leavingDNA everywhere.Hmm

Turningpurple · 26/03/2022 20:16

FFS get a grip! i made a comment about gdpr. how did you get a vote from that? i'm well aware of this case actually, more than you could know

Since you are very aware of the case are they really holding back the files because of names in it? Which can be redacted?

The files will go to the coroner. But with lots of redaction. Surely names could be just done then? While they are reacting all the relevant information.

My understanding was that Noah had had a fall and suffered a brain injury, overheated hence removed some of his clothing. Is foul play suspected?

TheRealMrsMac · 26/03/2022 20:21

Thank you for correcting that, @TooBigForMyBoots - I missed off part of my sentence.

SaxendaSummer · 26/03/2022 20:24

trouble with redactions though is it will make very little sense. might not give the answers his mum is looking for

I signed the petition when it was first launched but not checked it for a while

1000yellowdaisies · 26/03/2022 20:24

@IncompleteSenten

I wonder if they royally fucked up and are desperate to hide that fact.
I would not be at all surprised. The behaviour of the police quite often seems to be to protect their own interests and their own reputation when mistakes have been made.
1000yellowdaisies · 26/03/2022 20:25

Also to say my heart goes out to his mum and I will be thinking of her tomorrow.

TooBigForMyBoots · 26/03/2022 20:27

My wee humpy face wasn't for you @TheRealMrsMac,Flowers it was for the police.

TheRealMrsMac · 26/03/2022 20:30

FFS get a grip! i made a comment about gdpr. how did you get a vote from that? i'm well aware of this case actually, more than you could know!
Then why, if you didn't vote YABU and you are 'well aware...more than you could know!' is your only contribution that the files should not be released and because of GDPR @SaxendaSummer ? And why do you feel the need to get abusive on a thread like this in support of a lost, sadly deceased child and his mummy?

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 26/03/2022 20:30

I'm really struggling to see how on earth it could be impossible to tell his mum what happened to him without compromising data protection? If there was no foul play and nothing to hide why would anyone involved need their name protected or redacted and if they did why couldn't that just be done. Utterly awful and unforgivable to leave his poor grieving mother with no closure for whatever reason.

Turningpurple · 26/03/2022 20:31

@SaxendaSummer

If its just names it will give her at least an idea of what happened to him. Maybe not who. But an understanding.

Redcating names is far better than redacting most of the detail. Which isn't going to help anything at all. At least it will give her an idea of what she needs to do next.

I don't get why you would sign the petition, if you don't think she should get the files, with names redacted, tbh.

If its because they messed up, she deserves to know.

Thank you @TooBigForMyBoots - I understood that. Flowers

The police certainly deserve more than a wee humpy face, that's for sure.

nothing to do with you what my contribution is....i'll say what i see fit to say

dont owe you an explanation!

SaxendaSummer · 26/03/2022 20:39

@LifeInAHamsterWheel i think i agree with that but the prison confession nags at me ..

Rhannion · 26/03/2022 20:40

Noah’s mum and family deserve to know the truth about her beautiful son, how ever “ difficult “ it might be for the police.
If the police made a mess of the investigation then they should own up.
If anything like this happened to my child I would fight all the way until the truth was exposed.
I’ll be thinking of Fiona and Noah tomorrow.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 26/03/2022 20:41

Yes. But the fact is that people (officials) know exactly what happened here and for whatever reason aren't disclosing it. Makes my blood boil.

TheRealMrsMac · 26/03/2022 20:42

You're right, @SaxendaSummer - you don't owe me anything.

Fiona Donohoe is owed an explanation though, isn't she, about what happened to her dear boy, from those that actually know?

BridgesofMadisonfan · 26/03/2022 20:58

I knew from the thread title that you would be referring to Noah.

Awful. His poor mum.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 26/03/2022 20:58

Do they definitely no or have they just messed up so badly? Poor Fiona, it is heartbreaking and Noah sounded absolutely wonderful.

TheRealMrsMac · 26/03/2022 20:59

I read somewhere: 'this is the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Stephen Lawrence moment' - I will try and find it and post.

I so agree with this.

As pp mentioned there is a petition. I can't link it but its worth taking a look at.

I've just read this now. I hadn't heard of this tragic case before this thread. As a PP said it does seem that there must have been a fuck up of epic porportions here.
