Asking how often you have to wash your hair?

My own can't go over a whole day before it starts looking like it needs a wash. Fuckin nightmare and feels like high maintenance. How often are you able to go between washes? How long does your hair stay looking clean before it looks like it needs a wash? How often do you wash it?

I've got highlights in mine which thankfully dries it out.

I wash mine alternate days, but go probably go 3 days with some dry shampoo.

HereComesTheSum · 23/03/2022 13:52

I used to be the same as you but you need the initial gross bit out the way to change. I now go 3 days without washing it.

TabithaTittlemouse · 23/03/2022 13:52

About every 3 days. I try not to wash it often and use dry shampoo when needed.

MrsGHarrison87 · 23/03/2022 13:52

I do mine every morning. I've got fine hair though and doesn't take long to wash and dry. It looks good freshly washed and blow dried to give it a bit of volume but if I miss a day it looks like I've rubbed olive oil and on my head and flattened it down. I've tried washing it less but nothing changed so I'm happy to carry on as I am.

helloworld88 · 23/03/2022 13:53

Every other day, sometimes longer. I put dry shampoo (batiste) in it before I go to bed and it works better than doing it when already a bit greasy.

ComDummings · 23/03/2022 13:53

Every day or 2. Second day always involves dry shampoo to make it look presentable. It gets greasy so easily, always has done. My sister can go up to a week and it looks amazing the entire time, how?!

Takeawaytonight · 23/03/2022 13:54

Sundays and Wednesdays

charliebear78 · 23/03/2022 13:54

I do about every two or three days...I workout most days though so it soon starts to look crap...dry shampoo helps.
I need to straighten mine so although i maybe would like to wash it more I try not to because of the straightening.

Taurus221 · 23/03/2022 13:54

I used to have to wash mine everyday. I tried various products and eventually found some dry shampoo and texturising spray that keeps it looking good/thicker/not greasy for 3-5 days now.

Hopeislost · 23/03/2022 13:55

Twice a week due to having curly hair. But I wash it every time I go to the gym, so it ends up about every other day.

NarNooNarNoo · 23/03/2022 13:56

After about 5 days it feels dirty enough to need washing again. I unfortunately get very dry scalp (not dandruff) which means if I wash it too much it seems to dry it out more. It’s at its best 2/3 days after washing after the scalp has calmed down

singlepringlenotbychoice · 23/03/2022 13:56

Every third day. But I have to use dry shampoo in between because it's pretty fine and starts to look a bit lank. If it was long enough to tie up I could go an extra day

Tiredcatmum · 23/03/2022 13:56

Every 3-4 days. It’s really long and thick, so any more would be too time consuming.

Do you have any recs?

I wash mine daily because it looks greasy when it isn't. It's getting worse as I get older.

LittleMsPerfect · 23/03/2022 13:57

Once a week.
It's really 5 days but I use dry shampoo for the last 2 days if I'm not doing anything.

It used to be everyday then twice a week but then in lockdown I stretched it our to once a week as I wasn't doing anything so could ride out the grease.

Cheesechips · 23/03/2022 13:58

Every single day. I have fine/smooth hair and lots of which gets greasy very quickly. Also highlighted but it it's good condition. I wash it in the evening and let it dry naturally overnight. Then brush it in the morning when it's dry. Otherwise it can feel a bit flat. Definitely suits my hair type.

Comedycook · 23/03/2022 13:59

Twice a week...it is very thick and takes an hour to blow dry and straighten. I wouldn't have time to do it everyday

nearlyspringyay · 23/03/2022 14:00

Every day before lockdown, then I rode out the grossness and it's twice a week.

babywalker56 · 23/03/2022 14:00

I'm black so I wash mine once a month/once every two months. Couldn't imagine having to wash my hair everyday/every other day. It sounds so long

TheAbbotOfUnreason · 23/03/2022 14:02

Every third day - but I only use shampoo about once a fortnight and instead co-wash.

RandomUsernameHere · 23/03/2022 14:02

Every other day, but really should do it every day. I'm very envious of people that can go a few days between washes, mine would be so greasy!

Lockheart · 23/03/2022 14:03

Everyone's is different. What's true for others won't be true for you. Wash your hair as often as you need.

Eustaciavile · 23/03/2022 14:04

Weekly, and it’s in great condition despite my advanced years 🤣

middleager · 23/03/2022 14:04

Every other day, but s year ago I started growing out the grey and I don't want yo damage it with heat and styling, so I learned to last 5 days, with the help of dry shampoo from day 3!

Notwithittoday · 23/03/2022 14:06

I have extensions so I wash the whole lot once a week but I have to wash the top section and bits around my face ( my own hair) every morning because it’s very greasy
