Asking how often you have to wash your hair?

My own can't go over a whole day before it starts looking like it needs a wash. Fuckin nightmare and feels like high maintenance. How often are you able to go between washes? How long does your hair stay looking clean before it looks like it needs a wash? How often do you wash it?

Every day

MsChatterbox · 23/03/2022 19:51

Every 2 days. On the second day I wash the very front section though. Always had very greasy hair.

DoWhatYouLike · 23/03/2022 19:52

My hair is short but I wah it every morning

Nottd · 23/03/2022 19:55

Every day.

darlingdodo · 23/03/2022 19:58

Every day - short, low maintenance.

funinthesun19 · 23/03/2022 20:04

Once or twice a week at the moment. I’ve lost all motivation with it amongst lots of other things. It’s always scraped back in a ponytail anyway because I can’t do anything with it as it’s so long.

Tomorrow I have my first appointment at the hairdressers in a while. My hair is very long now so I’m going for a whole restyle to try and bring my lifeless horrid hair back to its former glory.

dottiedodah · 23/03/2022 20:05

I used to wash mine every day or two .however if you can ride it out for 3 days it looks and feels much better.my hair is quite fine, however I also alternate between 3 different shampoos as well .seems to suit my hair!

onelife22 · 23/03/2022 20:11

Mine needs washing every day to look clean and feel nice. I wash it twice a week though as it's always in a bun on the top of my head anyway 😂

SagittariusDwarf · 23/03/2022 20:11

About once a week. I have v thick curly hair and it can get away with not being washed that often. I might wash it more frequently if I'm going to the gym loads. I mostly have it back in a ponytail or bun tho, rarely down. If I have my hair down it'll survive 2-3 days max before becoming a fluffy mess

SoyaChai · 23/03/2022 20:24

2-3 times a week, dry shampoo if needed (feel it adds volume also).

Daisychainsandglitter · 23/03/2022 20:29

Same as takeaway. Sundays and Wednesdays.

JS87 · 23/03/2022 20:37

Swap to a shampoo bar. I used to have really greasy hair and although I washed every other day it looked greasy after one day. I can now go two days easily and three doesn’t look too bad.

afinethingindeed · 23/03/2022 20:40

I wash mine every other day. I did once get to a stage of washing every 4 days which was fine for my hair but my scalp suffered. I don't know why but I had an eczema flare up and I've found the only way I can keep it at bay now is to wash my hair every other day.
I think my hair probably does benefit too as it generally looks healthier and thicker these days (and that's even with post partum hair loss!)

Svara · 23/03/2022 20:40

I wash it twice a week, so fine for at least four days but I prefer to stick to set days each week.

Febrier · 23/03/2022 20:44

I have pretty fine hair in a short, gamine cut. It could go 2/3 days between washes and still look fine with product in it. However, I feel 10 times better for a shower every morning, so that's what it gets.

I only know it lasts longer from times when I've been too fed up or ill to shower.

Inclinedtochatter · 23/03/2022 20:50

I wash it every day. I'm not sure what the hell i do during the night but I wake up every morning looking like the lead singer from Flock of Seagulls

Sarahlou252 · 23/03/2022 20:56

Every single day.
Fine hair, it looks flat and greasy on the second day and I can't do a thing with it. Quick wash, blow dry and a few curls put in the ends with my ghd's and I'm good to go. I've tried to wash it every two days but I just spent the whole of the second day feeling dirty - thats just me, I know.

LoveFall · 23/03/2022 21:20

Unless I want my hair to look incredibly greasy and plastered to my head, I have to wash it every day. I use a light shampoo and wash it in the shower. It doesn't take long.

My hair is almost poker straight so blow drying out frizz and girls is not necessary. When I am at home I just let it dry. If I am going out I use a blow dryer that is a brush shape.

I have been the same my whole life. I had huge arguments with my parents as a teen because they tried to stop me washing my hair so often. It was just so important to me.

UltimateIrritant · 23/03/2022 21:33

Once a week, very thick and curly

neverhadanymarblestolose · 23/03/2022 21:39

Every bloody day. I have fine oily hair. I've tried going longer but it just looks and feels awful.
On the plus side it's very low maintenance other than having to wash it frequently. Never needed conditioner, it's really smooth and shiny, and naturally dries very straight and doesn't ever frizz in humidity.

sorrygross · 23/03/2022 21:51

If you can extend it your hair will start to go longer before going greasy. Mine use to be every other day now it's once a week

Gonnagetgoing · 23/03/2022 21:51

Every 3 days usually but sometimes eg if going out then every 2 days.

Gonnagetgoing · 23/03/2022 21:53

When my hair is more highlighted than it is I can get away with more days eg 4 not washing. Suppose it doesn’t look as dirty.

neverhadanymarblestolose · 23/03/2022 21:53

@Tippexy

The more often you wash it, the more often it will need washing.

Bingo! We have a winner Hmm

For some hair types maybe, but not all.

I extensively tested it every time I've taken maternity leave, as I was fed up of people telling me washing it too frequently was the problem! My hair only looks clean for one day (sometimes less depending on the weather and what I have been doing).

Some of us just have hair/scalp types that needs to be washed more frequently.

MrsDThomas · 23/03/2022 21:58

Every other day. Naturally curly hair, and its only combed when wet with conditioner in it.

If i go 3 days it starts to mat together
