Hope you don't mind whytcvv just posting here as your thread reached the limit for posts

Posting your original OP here:- Ignore my previous thread-start as it didn't include important title"

whytcvv
When will the rules change as I completely agree this is unfair and I expect that you will all largely agree with me.

For anyone that doesn't agree, please explain your reasoning to help me better understand.

This reminds me of the weightlifting story from last year.

People that are born female and people who are born male should not be competing in these events together. Our physical bodies are not comparable.

Have as many genders as you can think of, but there are only two possible sexes that you can be born as and that is what eligibility in these competitions should be based on.

@whytcvv

Is there a higher percentage of sporting types that are trans? Or is it illuminated due to this debate?
This was the argument Owen used, basically Trans are unrepresented in sport, this one stunning and brave example and we need to spend our energy finding out why they are underrepresented. Whilst it is currently small with the financial incentives it is conceivable that all women's medal places in sport will the taken by TW, especially when college funding, endorsements, fundraising etc are the real prize. Two Years taking HRT with a fully functioning penis in return for a scholarship...
MzHz · 21/03/2022 14:26

@Pazuzu

There is a damned good reason why men and women have separate events. It's called biology and other than in a few sports (dressage, long distance swimming etc), it's virtually impossible for men and women to compete equally.

Just as an example the women's 100 metres world record would get you ranked joint 6,436th in the world as a man. Deadlift? 310kg women against 501kg for a man.

So we're going down the path of writing women out of women's sport for the purposes of equality?

And if this continues, it will happen. Why bother training women for the Olympics when you can field a team of "trans" athletes?

Being pro women is not the same as being transphobic.

Extend that some more… if women can’t complete, why bother with sports at all? Why waste teachers time on teaching them something that they have no business doing?

While we’re at it…. Pay gap? Why bother wasting university or, or, or EDUCATION on them if they’re not going to perform long term like men do…

We’re being rubbed out of our own lives

MzHz · 21/03/2022 14:27

And the thing that irks me most… that some woke women actually support this!

DrSbaitso · 21/03/2022 14:32

Was he asked how many ultimate women ought to lose out to crap men and what his acceptable limit was?

MsTSwift · 21/03/2022 14:40

MzHz yes many intelligent women are passionate even getting tearful in their defence of this minority group 🙄. I couldn’t believe it until I experienced it myself.

SamphiretheStickerist · 21/03/2022 14:44

yes many intelligent women are passionate even getting tearful in their defence of this minority group

I may have asked, on one online group, if similar doleful tears were because arguing against common sense made the brain hurt.

I may also have been deleted from that group!

But mostly it is true that I had already given up on ot and don't care! A couple of others came out after me, so it wasn't a total loss Smile

I am waiting for the men folk who identify as babies to demand their place on the start line, and of course they will have to have events scheduled to accommodate their nap time. Is Owen going to support them I wonder, after all they are really unrepresented in sport…….
TheAbbotOfUnreason · 21/03/2022 15:01

Owen Jones’s argument is always TWAW and only hateful transphobic bigots say otherwise.

spacehardware · 21/03/2022 15:07

I bet when Owen Jones counselled a gay friend on Twitter who wanted a baby to find "a broody lesbian" he didn't mean the TWAW sort.

TWAW until you want a woman's reproductive labour, funnily enough

That's a good point I hadn't previously considered.

How dare you reduce people to their mere body parts, you person who menstruates?

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 21/03/2022 15:37

@DrSbaitso

Mary Harrington refers to this as meat lego: Staying Human in the Meat Lego Matrix Notes toward a Cyborg Feminist Reaction

what the Meat Lego Matrix offers is a dream of total mastery of the flesh - one that seeks to sideline all questions of whether or not there even is such a thing as ‘human nature’. And as these examples should indicate, it’s a project that - like all seismic changes in human civilisation - comes with tradeoffs. And those of the Meat Lego Matrix impact most profoundly on women

In the Meat Lego Matrix, feminism looks like equity for a shrinking group of ruling-class women, and an ever more abject, competitive and de-sexed existence for the rest in a world that shrugs at commercial surrogacy, destigmatises ‘sex work’ and replaces the political interests of women as a sex class with the validation of proliferating identities. That is, perks, plaudits and C-suite roles for those at the top, and (literally in the case of teenage athlete Selina Soule) a bitter and unwinnable competition for the rest.

DrSbaitso · 21/03/2022 15:37

To clarify: mentioning differences in male and female bodies is frequently shouted down by people who claim you're reducing a person to their body parts. These same people like to call women "people who menstruate", "people with a uterus", "bleeders" and other lovely terms that, er, reduce a person to their body parts.

Singlebutmarried · 21/03/2022 16:07

Reka has had her twitter account suspended :(

Good point.

And actually when it comes to male and female it is reduced to body parts. That's literally the scientific and biological definition of sex.

When you reduce something to gender you are then having no actual clear boundaries as gender is a social construct and one persons idea of what a woman is will differ from another's.

If anyone asked me what's a woman - I'd say someone with xx chromosomes. Because - what else can they be? (I'm. Wry careful and so r like the bleeders, menstuators etc because actually not every woman does) I'm waiting for a hysterectomy. I'm not going to stop being a woman because i have no womb or periods Grin

Of course she fucking has. She forgot her place!
TheKeatingFive · 21/03/2022 16:16

Fuck me how depressing

SamphiretheStickerist · 21/03/2022 16:24

Well, that's outed me. Real name and everything!

Can't really stay quiet when people I know are spouting this crap all over FB. So I didn't. I have reminded them that I was a sport scientist and that they can't expect me to stay quiet whilst they angst over the niceties. A boy becomes a man, is a man until he dies. That's it.

Singlebutmarried · 21/03/2022 16:44

I’ve just come back from twitter. It’s horrible over there.

I stopped reading after five minutes as the vitriol for women daring to say something isn’t right with being pitted against a male who identifies as female is horrendous.

I’ve always been pretty much live and let live, but not at the expense of others.

It would appear that because of my viewpoint I’m the most hated of women, because I believe in two sexes. The rest is window dressing.

Theeyeballsinthefuckingsky · 21/03/2022 16:45

Poor Reka

There’s also been a massive rewriting of facts about LT over the last 48 hours. LT height on All the official swimming sites was recorded as variously 6ft 2 or 3. If you Google their height now every site that comes up says they are either 5ft 7 or 8 and weigh around 60kg which is around 9.5 stones. Stop and think about that. In 48 hours LT real height & weight have been essentially deleted from
The internet and replaced with false information so that it looks as if LT height & weight are more in line with biological female swimmers

“He who controls the present controls the past” in action

Jamaicatheyhaveabobsledteam · 21/03/2022 16:46

This was discussed in a science based professional group I am in. It descended into insults and shouts of be kind to Lia.
Lia is entitled to compete in her chosen sport but she should compete in the men’s category as she has been through male puberty. But saying that apparently that makes me an evil woman.
It makes me so angry she is displacing women from the sport who have worked so hard for years and can’t compete with her physiological advantage.

Theeyeballsinthefuckingsky · 21/03/2022 16:49

I assume no one thought about being kind to the women? Rhetorical question, of course they didn’t!!!!

Hasselhoffsheadband · 21/03/2022 16:50

Absolute BOLLOCKS does Lia Thomas weigh 9.5 stones. Lia may well be 5ft 8, I don't know, but no way do they weight that little.

The sports males who weigh under 10 stones are very slight to look at, eg. The cyclists, jockeys, featherweight boxers - they look light. Come on!

Also, can't believe Reka's twitter has been suspended, wtf?

Theeyeballsinthefuckingsky · 21/03/2022 16:53

Until 3 days ago LT was 6ft 2 or 3 depending on which swim site you looked at it. Now all of a sudden they’re 5ft 7 or 8

I find it fucking terrifying that just like that, lies have replaced facts

Singlebutmarried · 21/03/2022 16:55

If Lia’s 5’8” then the other women in the race must be all of 4’!

In fact it seems Lia is the only grown woman there and the rest are primary school kids.

That must be the only explanation right.
