To ask how to dispose of sex toys?

NC for obvious reasons.

I have some old toys I've been holding on to ages because I don't know how to get rid of them.

At the moment I'm living with some family members so am very reluctant to put it in household waste even if it's directly in the bin outside.

One of the toys has a plug as well so I'm not even supposed to dispose of that in household waste. When I Google it says to take it to a local recycling centre...really??

How do you get rid of toys? Especially those with plugs?

Daily mail is garbage on earth (incase there's any of them lurking here looking for things to repost on their tragic site)

Put in a couple of carrier bags and place in a public bin when you are out?

I was thinking of this, but what about the ones with plugs? Seems wrong to do that but I don't really see another option?

I suppose, if people buy farts in a bottle, you might find a buyer for them.

Onlyforcake · 16/03/2022 19:36

Local tip has a collection for small electrical items. Couldn't you book a trip to your local centre? You only then need to avoid other users and most people are fairly focused on their own stuff.

NetballHoop · 16/03/2022 19:36

Stick them in Jiffy bag and post them to Putin.

Pyri · 16/03/2022 19:37

I’m so confused about a sex toy with a plug?! Like a plug in a sink??

cuno · 16/03/2022 19:37

Love Honey recycles old toys for free.

ChocolateCakeYum · 16/03/2022 19:37

Cut the plug off (you can keep the plug, it might be good for another appliance) and dispose in a public bin.

Grin No like an electrical plug. It plugs into a wall socket

So I remember them doing this and I looked it up and they don't seem to do it anymore? Lovehoney was the site I got the info off of to dispose of them at a recycling centre

That.
SandysMam · 16/03/2022 19:42

Bury them in the garden?

MindfulMarch · 16/03/2022 19:42

Just cut the plug off! Put them in a couple of carrier bags & then in the rubbish bag in the outside bin - surely your family isn't going to go through your rubbish?!?!?!

You do not now that's not some kind of disclaimer and will have no bearing whatsoever as to whether they will print it or not.

WTAF?! Why does it plug in to a wall?! Is it very heavy duty or is from 1988 or something?!

StScholastica · 16/03/2022 19:42

Put them in a bag in the attic and forget about them so that when you move himself the new occupants have to deal with them Angry Yes I'm looking at you previous occupants.

Does cutting the plug off negate the environmental aspect of throwing electrical items in the trash? I thought it would be the same thing whether there's a plug attached to an electrical item or not?

Or leave them in a hedge for someone's labrador to retrieve.

Or, as someone did last year near me, bag them up and leave them on the doorstep of your local church.
teaandtoastwithmarmite · 16/03/2022 19:45

I wrote this post as well a while back. Ended up chucking it in my bin

VanGoghsDog · 16/03/2022 19:45

Don't put them in a public bin, you should take them to the tip (aka "recycling center").

All electrical retailers have to take back items the same as they sell now, when you buy something, which is why LH do it, but you'd have to post them to them which seems like a lot of hassle. You could try Curry's?
