To ask how to dispose of sex toys?

Bananananaa · 16/03/2022 19:33

NC for obvious reasons.

I have some old toys I've been holding on to ages because I don't know how to get rid of them.

At the moment I'm living with some family members so am very reluctant to put it in household waste even if it's directly in the bin outside.

One of the toys has a plug as well so I'm not even supposed to dispose of that in household waste. When I Google it says to take it to a local recycling centre...really??

How do you get rid of toys? Especially those with plugs?

Your local council website should have details.

@GeneLovesJezebel

I suppose, if people buy farts in a bottle, you might find a buyer for them.
Who is going to want to buy second hand sex toys?Confused
johnd2 · 16/03/2022 20:41

Just post it to a random address, and put the "sender"as the house 4 doors down.
Then wait for the Mumsnet thread to pop up!

(PS it's a Joke)

I was going to suggest a small electrical items bin too. I think you can look up your nearest one online but I’ve seen them all over London.

otherusername · 16/03/2022 20:41

There is a market for used sex toys, the same kind of people who buy dirty underwear and well worn shoes 😆

NameChangeCity123 · 16/03/2022 20:45

@NetballHoop

Stick them in Jiffy bag and post them to Putin.

I had no idea there were mains powered sex toys. How practical are they? Is the lead long enough to reach if your plug sockets aren't near? What about if you get too carried away and the plug comes out of the wall just as you get to the good bit?

Haven't read the whole thread, but this might help:

I'd wait until bin day & put it in next doors bin 😜
You're welcome!

FreezyFreezy · 16/03/2022 20:52

We recently bought this. Knocked my socks off. Would recommend 👍

SistersRdoingit4themselves · 16/03/2022 20:53

Sling em over your fence 🤣🤣

Bananananaa · 16/03/2022 20:54

So thanks to everyone here I think I've located an outside electrical bin about 30 mins from me via the tube. Think I'm going to head there one evening when it's hopefully quiet.

eBay?

Oldenoughtobedead · 16/03/2022 20:58

I put mine in the small electricals container at the tip. I took them in a carrier bag and then emptied the bag into the container whilst leaning into container so no one could particularly see what I was doing. Electrical items should be recycled.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 16/03/2022 20:59

Could you put it somewhere discreetly and waddle off to the council tip and 'spit it out' there?

Norgie · 16/03/2022 20:59

I always cut the plugs off electrical items to keep, as you never know when you might need a plug.
The fact that I have several unused plugs is irrelevant.
Just throw the toys in the bin on collection day.

Or turn yourself into an inventor and make one super duper toy out of all the old ones.
Application to Dragons Den is optional.

NETSRIK · 16/03/2022 21:01

Just put them in the bin. Why the need for all the drama? 🤷🏻‍♀️

historygeek · 16/03/2022 21:05

Oh my god, I assumed a butt plug that couldn't be disposed of in general waste for hygiene reasons. What an idiot!

@RogersVideo

I held on to my old toys for ages as well until I got up the nerve to take them to the recycling centre. One was a proper dildo so I hadn't wanted to! But I planned it all out. I went on a weekday morning when it wasn't busy, concealed in a bag so I could just take them out at the electric appliance area and run. BUT because it wasn't busy one of the workers came over and said, "I'll sort that for you love" and took the bag off me!!!! And yes he took out the obvious vibrator dildo, kind of paused, said nothing, and put in the electrics area. Ugh ugh ugh.
OMG actually snorted laughing at that one!! 🤦🏻‍♀️😹😹😹

Yes!!!! Great idea!! Even better if he has to pay excess postage 😂

@WhenDovesFly

Do you have an ex you'd like to tell to go f* themself? Post it to them anonymously. They'll hopefully get the message as well as then having the problem of disposing of it. Win/win.
