To ask how to dispose of sex toys?

NC for obvious reasons.

I have some old toys I've been holding on to ages because I don't know how to get rid of them.

At the moment I'm living with some family members so am very reluctant to put it in household waste even if it's directly in the bin outside.

One of the toys has a plug as well so I'm not even supposed to dispose of that in household waste. When I Google it says to take it to a local recycling centre...really??

How do you get rid of toys? Especially those with plugs?

Just wrap in a black bin bag and put in the wheelie bin with the normal rubbish. No one's going to go through there, are they?

I'm not sure giving it to the tip is environmentally friendlier, it gets sent to poorer countries like Ghana who then have have to deal with the hazardous waste, same as our fast fashion.

Being green shouldn't mean we keep the UK green and treat the rest of the poorer world like a tip.

I just took my old rabbit to the tip. There's nothing to be embarrassed about.

B&Q has bins at the exit for small electrical items, you could put the plug one in there. Not so sure re the others.

Some years ago I dropped some stuff off at the tip. The Guys there have a shelter at the side of the containers and on the shelves and floor of the shelter they put things they have asked if they can keep. On that particular day there was a fairly full box of sex toys on the floor. Not sure if it was all from one person and what they wanted to keep them for rather than chucking them in the small appliance recycling containers.....

OP is asking how to get rid of sex toys, not suggestions for new ones to use!

Some companies will recycle them, I’ve thrown mine in a bin before.

Take them to the tip. Put the electrical ones in small electricals and the others in general. I don’t really understand why this is a difficult question, tbh.
