Sharing bed sheets, is it me?

Ok I really don't know if I am being weird here, but I have my sheets on my bed that I share with my husband and my daughter has hers that she shares with her boyfriend.
I bought myself some new bedding last week, I have used it once, washed it etc and now she has put it on her bed!
I don't know why but it makes me uneasy, obviously its washed between uses etc, I can't verbalise it but if makes me uncomfortable.

She is cheeky using your new bedding and should really buy her own unless you are generous and buy for her, the issue really is that she has taken the new bedding knowing it is not hers, boundaries need setting.

WutheringHeights66 · 07/03/2022 20:18

I have a daughter, I have a son. I would be pissed off that either pinched my lovely bedding but I would not get any ick that would stop me using it again. I mean it’s like them sitting on my sofa right? Using my knives and forks?

Anyway, they had double bedding at home and mine is super king so they wouldn’t pinch it anyway.

MakeMineALarge1 · 07/03/2022 20:31

@Wafflesnsniffles I donated it as it was a king size duvet cover, not a double as I use so what was I supposed to do just keep it forevermore?

@LittleGwyneth

I imagine if you say 'Darling I'd rather you didn't use my bedding - I shag your father on that' she would probably stop doing so.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Brilliant! 😂😂😂

I would be annoyed if my DD stole my new bedsheets but if you’re uneasy because her and her boyfriend have slept on them then that’s a bit odd. Nothing a good wash won’t erase.

Vitani · 07/03/2022 21:15

Matching bed sets!

It's hardly uncommon here to have duvet cover, pillow-cases and sheets that go together. It's not unusual at all.

Vitani · 07/03/2022 21:22

In most houses I've been in, there has been some attempt to match things up, e.g. cushions that go well with the colour of the sofa, or a rug that compliments the room, or light-shades neutral so as to not clash or matching carpet or whatever. I would think it's rarer here that there has been no regard to colours ever at all. There are extremes ar both ends, or course.

spacehardware · 07/03/2022 21:31

What an entitled little madam she is

MintyFreshBreath · 07/03/2022 21:36

We have bed sets that our ours and bed sheets that are purely for the kids. 1 has a double, 1 has a single. Mine goes with the colour scheme of my bedroom 😂

MintyFreshBreath · 07/03/2022 21:36

*are ours

Momicrone · 07/03/2022 21:37

Nah, it's not something that would bother me in the least

Lucytwosie · 07/03/2022 21:41

It has genuinely never occurred to me to have allocated bedding for each bed! Just out of interest, do the people who do tend to have separate towels per person aswell? We just wash it all and pick the next available one.

spacehardware · 07/03/2022 22:03

We have bedding that coordinates with our bedroom, likewise towels

Clearly op bought some nice bedding for herself, and her daughter thought oh that looks nice and tried to snaffle it. Up with this I would not put

Momicrone · 07/03/2022 22:05

Buy your daughter some nice bedding, so you have a set each, she is your daughter after all

spacehardware · 07/03/2022 22:25

She's 24, she can buy her own!

me109f · 08/03/2022 00:05

I have sheets that are exclusively for my bed. It is not a huge deal but I prefer it that way.

Ivyonafence · 08/03/2022 00:24

@MakeMineALarge1 so incredibly wasteful for the planet to buy new bedding for guests.

www.europarl.europa.eu/news/en/headlines/society/20201208STO93327/the-impact-of-textile-production-and-waste-on-the-environment-infographic

Sick of people thinking that just because something is 'cheap' to them, means it doesn't cost much. There is a large impact when you wastefully buy textiles you don't need. It's just felt by people more vulnerable than yourself.

LadyPropane · 08/03/2022 00:40

I have my own bedsheets. It's not an "ick" thing. I just like to choose the style of my own sheets. They don't necessarily go with the style of other rooms.

My kids are still little so they all have single beds anyway, but even if they had doubles, I still would have 2 sets of sheets designated for each bed - one to use and one in the wash. I've always seen them as a personal thing, not because it's "ick" to share them, but just because people choose their own style. My daughter has stars and rockets on her sheets. Other daughter has kittens. I have a boring swirly pattern. Everyone chooses their own.

Exquisite tact!
timeforteaforyouandme · 08/03/2022 03:03

Think of all the people who have shagged on the bedsheets in hotels.
Or maybe don't think about that...

Thank goodness for washing powder

The OP has said when this came up in the thread previously that it’s different in hotels because they don’t own that bed linen. It’s to do with her DD taking her stuff.
Momicrone · 08/03/2022 07:25

But making her strip them off her bed is a bit petty and mean

MakeMineALarge1 · 08/03/2022 07:29

I had guests coming, I had a king size duvet but no cover, I had to buy a cover, later I gave both the cover and the duvet away so that they could be used by someone else.
I am not sure what else I could have done! With all due respect this is not the focus of the thread.
