To go back to hairdresser and say this isn't ok?

This is the picture I showed her. My hair was a bronde balayage but grown out for a good 8 months so the top half was quite dark and the bottom was very blonde. She said that she would do a dark root melt and then bring some blonde up to the top but that she would also add some lowlights to add dimension like ok the picture

So what the fuckety fuck has she done to my hair? I was very clearly not happy I was holding back tears but just wanted to get out of there. This isn't good enough though right?

I really like it. I guess she worked with your previous colour to match the photo, it really does look nice. Love the shape too

GordenBennett · 28/02/2022 21:31

Bloody hell , I’d be over the moon with that !

Fritilleries · 28/02/2022 21:31

Looks good from where I'm standing. The photo you used has it all curled and styled. This is why I refuse to get my hair curled after colouring as it distorts the 'real' colour and hair.

DDivaStar · 28/02/2022 21:32

There a red tinge, is that from previous colour ?
The blonde at the top looks a bit uneven, but the streaks are quite chunky on both pictures.

Its not exactly what you asked for but not massively out either.....

drpet49 · 28/02/2022 21:32

I really like it

Whathefrick · 28/02/2022 21:32

I think people might be thinking the photo I showed her is the hair I got.

The first two photos are my hair. The last picture is what I wanted. They are very different Sad

Sorry, Is the third pic what you wanted?

Discwriter · 28/02/2022 21:34

I'm sorry OP, I don't like it. The painting/blending doesn't look very well done. I would imagine this was expensive too. Not sure how helpful that is, would you be comfortable to go back to the hairdressers to see if she can fix it in anyway?

Doyoumind · 28/02/2022 21:34

Yanbu. Your hair isn't anything like you wanted it.

DrWankincense · 28/02/2022 21:34

It looks slightly red/pink in those photos. Is that what you are unhappy with? Can't see the roots so hard to tell what specifically is wrong.

BakedTattie · 28/02/2022 21:35

I think there’s one stark blonde streak. Apart from that it looks good!

luxxlisbon · 28/02/2022 21:35

The image you showed is a balayage and you’ve been given traditional foil highlights that look like they start in a harsh line on the top of your head. That isn’t the sunkissed/ easy low maintenance look you get with balayage.

I’m not surprised you weren’t happy, the technique is nothing like you asked for. I would ring them up tomorrow if I was you. You now need a toner on the roots of those highlights to bring the colour down a bit and soften it.

Cherrysherbet · 28/02/2022 21:35

Oops x post! I agree with you, it looks nothing like the picture. You should go back a complain. Some hair dressers can talk the talk, and that’s about all!

Pizzadreams · 28/02/2022 21:36

I think if you style it like the pics it wouldn’t be too far off.

Whathefrick · 28/02/2022 21:36

I think there is confusion. This is the photo I showed as what I wanted.

There is definitely an auburn tinge, if you really squint. It looks nice and natural tho.

MrsTimRiggins · 28/02/2022 21:36

I mean, it’s not awful but it’s not really what you asked for. The highlights are uneven and quite chunky, plus you seem to have darker ends overall than the roots, somewhat opposite to what you actually wanted. There’s nowhere near the dimension in your hair as the inspo photo either.

No, it's not a good look. There's next to no balyage there. Clearly she's bot very competent. I wouldn't bother going back, if they can't do a good job to begin with they are not going to now. Maybe complain amd ask for a partial refund to get it corrected elsewhere. Horrible situation to be in. You need to go to a high end reputable salon for balyage

ThatsNotMyGolem · 28/02/2022 21:37

It's gorgeous!

Whathefrick · 28/02/2022 21:37

This is it now. My hair was closer to the inspiration pic this morning before I had anything done. I'm so upset Sad

Agreed that it looks like traditional foil highlights rather than the balayage you wanted.

Doyoumind · 28/02/2022 21:38

@Aubrrgin

I was holding back tears

Here’s a grip for you.

Here's a biscuit for you Biscuit
Jumbonuts · 28/02/2022 21:38

I wouldn't be happy with that either. I would go back. Is it a hairdresser you have used before? Would you feel comfortable with her redoing it or would you want to request another stylist do it?

Ive only been back to a hairdressers once when I wasn't happy with my hair. I checked with my friend who is a hairdresser first to see how she felt with clients coming back and she said she would always have the chance to correct something that a client wasn't happy with. So I went back to the guy who had done my hair and just explained how I had wanted it differently and he was more than happy to fix it. I came away much happier the second time.
