To go back to hairdresser and say this isn't ok?

Whathefrick · 28/02/2022 21:06

This is the picture I showed her. My hair was a bronde balayage but grown out for a good 8 months so the top half was quite dark and the bottom was very blonde. She said that she would do a dark root melt and then bring some blonde up to the top but that she would also add some lowlights to add dimension like ok the picture

So what the fuckety fuck has she done to my hair? I was very clearly not happy I was holding back tears but just wanted to get out of there. This isn't good enough though right?

*reddy not teddy !!
Managing expectations is the key here ! But the highlights are awful and cheap

Girlintheframe · 01/03/2022 07:40

I agree OP, I don't like what he/she has done.

It's too red and too streaky. Not well blended and looks like stripes.

I would go back and ask her to rectify.

RealBecca · 01/03/2022 07:50

Sorry OP, yes it's terrible. It looked better before. Now it looks like frosty highlight streaks of the 90s. I feel quite bad for you because I wouldn't trust them to fix it and you may end up paying to go somewhere else and go through it all again. Was it your usual salon?

ManicPixie · 01/03/2022 08:00

It is bad but I would just bite the bulletin and lay for a better salon to fix it.

ManicPixie · 01/03/2022 08:01

*pay for

AuntFlorence · 01/03/2022 08:08

One job of hairdressers is to manage the clients expectation and set a realistic outcome for the hair service. There was no way of creating that image from the original hair, so that should have been the starting point. And then the outcome wasn't good either, regardless of the fact it was never going to come out as expected it also looks uneven and patchy. I would definitely expect this to be corrected by the salon, it still won't look like the desired outcome but it should look good.

Imabouttoexplode · 01/03/2022 08:09

@CareBear50

I've no idea which is the before or after pic so cannot comment
How can you not work it out. Its blindingly obvious.
BrownStripePJ · 01/03/2022 08:11

It is quite bad.

Where has the red tinge come from. Your hair was blonde before.

And you can blatantly see the old roots. Not the same colour but there is a distinct halo effect where they were before.

Sorry OP

@Aubrrgin

I was holding back tears

Here’s a grip for you.

There's no need to be so bloody nasty! Are you always such a bully? Wow Hmm
BlondeWidow · 01/03/2022 08:13

@Whathefrick Yes the very first thing I noticed was the single huge strand of blonde in the middle. I'm so sorry OP. Don't let them get away with it x

Imabouttoexplode · 01/03/2022 08:14

Very few hairdressers can achieve that result and it costs a lot of money too. If you went to a regular salon and paid less than £150, you've got no chance. Don't go back cos they don't have the skill to rectify it. If however you went to a specialist and paid £200+ go back and insist they put it right.

hattie43 · 01/03/2022 08:20

Your hair before the treatment looks more the colour you want but it's much more red / auburn now .

If you showed me your hair without reference to how you wanted it I'd say I like it but I can clearly see it's nothing like the photo you took with you . In fact your original colour with a similar blow dry is more like the photo .

I'd just go back to them and say you're disappointed and ask them to rectify it . I know hairdressers can't produce a mirror image of what we'd like because our hair is different but there's no reason they can't lighten the colour.

PeakyBlender · 01/03/2022 08:22

Definitely go back, she's just given you uneven basic highlights, and the bottom looks pink

WouldIwasShookspeared · 01/03/2022 08:24

You're right, it does not look good.

I don't see why some posters are being twats.
You've paid good money for something and you haven't been given it. You've been given something that looks, by comparison, bloody awful
The fact that it's your hair makes it no more acceptable.

cherrytopcake · 01/03/2022 08:28

The blond highlights at the top are the worst bit. Sorry op. They aren't natural or well blended and are very noticeable. A bit like highlights in the noughties. Bottom colours from the pictures you've shared don't look too bad but more auburn than ash.

As for the cut it looks like you don't have as much going on as the model in the pic. Maybe less hair to play with BUT bear in mind the model pic has most likely been touched up to make hair look fuller and colours look amazing.

It's hard to say whether hairdresser has cut hair properly as there seems to be a slight wave in there. I'd straighten it if I was you to assess the quality of the cut.

I would go back to get the blond highlights at the top blended properly if this was me. I've been here a few times before and know exactly how you feel.

BUT seriously though op, from the pictures it really isn't that bad. Chin up and all that. X

Agreed! "Cheaper" hairdressers (so cut and colour like in the picture op brought into hairdresser) can't achieve that look for less than £200 in my experience. You need to be paying close to £300 if you want that. If you're paying £70-£100 no chance.
MrsTrumpton · 01/03/2022 08:34

She's done the reverse of the picture you showed her – she's put the blonde at the crown and left the bottom darker. Except it's not brown, it's reddish streaks!

Definitely go back and complain.

cherrytopcake · 01/03/2022 08:37

Just seen your pic of the hair before the appointment and it was better before... go back and ask for the most senior/experienced colourist to fix the colour, free of charge of course. Don't let the same person fix it because they probably won't know how to. Stand to your ground (but don't be rude of course). Good luck op.

Ignore the nasty comments on here, you want to have nice hair and need some advice. Nothing wrong with that.

Hshuznw · 01/03/2022 08:39

I wouldn’t go back simply because I wouldn’t trust her. If that’s what she did and she thinks it looks good, then she’s clearly not skilled enough.

Although, I doubt you’d achieve a look like the picture. Your hair doesn’t seem to have the right texture and thickness to achieve it, so I wouldn’t get your hopes up in terms of how it would look.

Theonlyoneiknow · 01/03/2022 08:39

I would go back OP, that wouldn't have been a cheap haircut/colour and they didn't do anywhere near what you asked for in both colour or style IMHO

Spaciet · 01/03/2022 08:40

What an unnecessary comment.

OP yes I'd go back and say you're unhappy with it, if they felt they couldn't recreate the hair in the photo they should have said and given other options.

It also massively depends on the underlying hair. I spent £380 on a balayage for my dark hair, with a balayage expert, and the balayage still turned out orange. I had to have a couple of return visits to fix it.

cherrytopcake · 01/03/2022 08:41

I do agree with the last bit. The model in the picture would have started off with very long thick hair, longer than yours was op - which would give the cutter enough hair to cut lots of nice long layers. You hair seems to have one big layer, and cut shorter

You need to find more happiness in your life. You’re clearly very bitter about something.

Oblomov22 · 01/03/2022 08:43

I'm so sorry that is BAD! Nothing like what you asked her for. What has she said? have you already arranged an appointment to go back in?
