To go back to hairdresser and say this isn't ok?

This is the picture I showed her. My hair was a bronde balayage but grown out for a good 8 months so the top half was quite dark and the bottom was very blonde. She said that she would do a dark root melt and then bring some blonde up to the top but that she would also add some lowlights to add dimension like ok the picture

So what the fuckety fuck has she done to my hair? I was very clearly not happy I was holding back tears but just wanted to get out of there. This isn't good enough though right?

It looks like she's badly highlighted the top, and darkened the bottom? I wouldn't be happy either but I also don't think I'd let her do my hair again so I would want it correcting by someone else or a refund.

Jumbonuts · 28/02/2022 21:40

*want the chance, not have the chance

GordenBennett · 28/02/2022 21:41

Ah , sorry I misunderstood @Whathefrick , do you feel you can go back ?

BoodleBug51 · 28/02/2022 21:41

It looks quite patchy in the second photo.

I am going back to mine on Wednesday, after phoning up to say I wasn't happy with the cut. I usually get a Saturday appointment, but had to take a late evening one and the cut has been awful. Even DH said "your hair doesn't look as if it's got any shape" and he's as blind as a bat.............

If you're not happy with it, ask to go back in and have some correction done.

Here’s a grip for you.

You never had a shitty hairdresser experience.

I wish you one the next time you go, and you can see if that grip helps you out.

Whathefrick · 28/02/2022 21:44

I just don't understand what they've done. I wanted some darker bits weaves through as the bottom of my hair was solidly blonde and I wanted more dimension but she's added so much warmth, it's red tinted, my hair wasn't at all, I hate it so much and am worried it's going to be so hard to get out Sad

I've no idea which is the before or after pic so cannot comment

I don’t have hair anymore but I’ll keep it in mind should it ever grow back, thanks.

KindlyKanga · 28/02/2022 21:46

It looks quite chunky in the 3rd picture too just they have waves. There's like one or too bits that stand out a bit but I don't think it will look noticeable at all once you've curled it

MintyFreshBreath · 28/02/2022 21:46

Definitely go back and ask to see if someone more senior can do a correction. Not sure how your hairdresser can think your hair looks like number three.

KindlyKanga · 28/02/2022 21:47

The 3rd picture does have that sort of red colour in it just more blonde. Maybe they could add more blonde?

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 28/02/2022 21:48

I don't think you can really compare the two as in the photo of what you wanted, the model is holding her head at an odd angle and the hair is curled. You can also only really see the side and not the back (as in your photo).

Maybe try reading the thread. It's quite clear when you do.
NETSRIK · 28/02/2022 21:50

Why are you upset? It looks gorgeous! I think the hairdresser has matched it really well.

Helpful 🙄
DrManhattan · 28/02/2022 21:53

The lady in the picture on the right has alot more hair than in the other pics so it would look different. Not sure which is you but all look fine to me

Notwithittoday · 28/02/2022 21:55

I think tbh the inspo pic you took is probably hair extensions or someone with really thick hair that’s just been styled and curled. You haven’t got as much hair and it looks like it’s dropped out of style. I think the colours she’s put through your hair are quite nice and like the picture. I can’t see the top of your head too clearly but it does look like your root melt hasn’t taken so that might need to be redone

SevernEleven · 28/02/2022 22:01

It's really not good is it. The top seems to be the lightest part. What's the condition of the root highlights like, they look a little fried?

Savvysix1984 · 28/02/2022 22:02

I think your hair looks fine. Although the colour isn't exactly like the pic you wanted, to me it's more a styling issue. The models hair is more layered and cut, so bouncier.

CoastalWave · 28/02/2022 22:04

In fairness, the picture you asked for is expensive hair - very expensive and would take a decent, experienced colourist. I only know 2 who could do that. Most hairdressers can do what you got.

You need to familiarise yourself with what the stylist is capable of before you ask and be disappointed.

How much did you pay?

Did you lose any empathy when you lost your hair?
billy1966 · 28/02/2022 22:05

@Doyoumind

Yanbu. Your hair isn't anything like you wanted it.
This.

I can see why you would be very disappointed.

Sorry.

Benjispruce5 · 28/02/2022 22:05

I think it looks nice. The first photo has more blonde and the second which I presume is the other side seems darker. Could you ask for more blonde on that side. I think balayage is so risky. My daughters get it and it rarely is like they wanted but seems to improve after a few washes as sometimes the toner the salon uses, distorts the colour. Could it be the toner?

stairway · 28/02/2022 22:06

I can see why you don’t like it. If you don’t like the red tinge maybe going a bit darker will cover it? It doesn’t look awful though. This is why I just cover my mousey hair in lemon juice in the summer and get natural highlights. I’ve never been happy with a hairdresser.

Here’s a grip for you.

Why be such a dick? Just ignore the thread.

I've spent a hundred quid on hair and hated it too.
