Because 7.5 is nearly full and we’re still waiting.

Thank you for pointing that out - i was actually trying to point out voters increasing view of his personal untrustworthiness not trustworthiness. Should have proofed it before posting.

@JaniieJones

Bozo's speech in the Ukrainian cathedral was really moving wasn't it? None of them seemed to care that his hair is a bit scruffy! All chanting 'thank you!' at the end, grateful for the UK leading in the response while the EU dithered. Can't any of you recognise he is absolutely doing the right thing here, give him a teeny bit of credit? Or is still yeah but cake and 'bubbly'?!
The reason Putin felt he had the power to do what he's done is because of the chaos caused by Brexit etc (which Russia interferes with) and because of the poor leadership of our Tory party.

I will admit though that the sanctions have been good and fairly quick and will have taken him by surprise. This is why he's reacting as he is. He didn't expect the eu to pull together.

And quite frankly I can see why he misjudged that.

DuncinToffee · 09/03/2022 09:29

What is going on with the partygate probe?

Before the war in Ukraine, lockdown parties in Downing Street had dominated the news. But while that's no longer the case, much is still going on behind the scenes.

I think Johnson et all thinks hes having a good war so we all have to forget about the rest of it I'm not so sure. Pictures of refugees especially kids and the governments lying and inhumane stance on visas is definitely cutting through to those who weren't even interested in politics. My hairdresser this morning who takes pride in not bothering with any of this was nearly in tears this morning talking about refugees and the liars in the government. Johnson was singled out but she was talking about Priti Patel- she wouldn't have known who that was a month ago.

Is there a possibility that this will alienate a different section of the population from that already pissed off about parties?
ClaudineClare · 11/03/2022 15:50

Just checking in on this thread as I wasn't sure if it still active...

littledrummergirl · 12/03/2022 00:19

I've been checking every day to see if anyone had put something new.
I think that despite everything that happened through lockdown, it has still been a shock to see the total disregard for human beings that the government has shown over the refugees and the visa system.
Shit show is giving it more credit than it deserves. I've been through anger and disbelief and just feel sad right now.
Seeing footage of Johnson laughing at a solar farm today made me feel sick.
Right now I have no words and I guess others feel the same. Sad

Zonder · 12/03/2022 07:45

Right with you @littledrummergirl - total disregard for the consequences of their actions on real people.

UnconditionalSurrender · 13/03/2022 14:51

Apparently Home Office are saying they were lent on by no 10 to stop refugees coming in. Comrade Boris really is compromised isn't he.
Gove on TV this morning claiming he didnt know his pal Lebedev might have been a security risk. Not sure ignorance is a great defence when you're a govt minister.

Zonder · 13/03/2022 14:53

He didn't know his pal was a risk, he didn't know he was at any parties. He's not the most aware person we could hope to be running the country, is he?

ClaudineClare · 13/03/2022 15:01

On one of the Ukraine threads. someone (pro-Russian, presumably) was trying to discredit Zelensky. They said:

Ok, how would you feel if a comedian with no political experience was chosen to rule the UK? When UK was going through an 8 year war? Say James Corden. Or Peter Kay. And then it gets found out that James Corden is very close friends/business partners with an oligarch who is sanctioned by the US for corruption?

As several of us pointed out, this is not far from what we have actually got!

Blossomtoes · 13/03/2022 15:06

It seems that there was backbench outcry over the Home Office’s lacklustre performance with processing refugees. Hopefully Patel’s disgraced herself enough to be sacked before too long but who have they got to replace her?

PMQs today

Matt Western - what first attracted the Prime Minister to the billionaire Russian oligarch?

Dominic Raab - The Prime Minister is a very social individual...

Hope everyone is still keeping an eye on this 'disproportionate fluff'.....

The MET is so slow unless you squad in an oligarch mansion

UnconditionalSurrender · 19/03/2022 14:44

It was nice of JRM to remind us of the fluff. Johnson's comparision today between Ukrainian resistance and Brexit voters quite apart from being tasteless is Putinesque in it's vainglorious delusion. I'm presuming he is on a high thinking he's Churchill again. How I hope a shitty office party takes him down.

Onebabyandamadcat · 20/03/2022 08:19

A long time lurker on these threads but have to stick my nose in and share this - the PM actually thinks that it is even remotely ok to compare the Ukrainian people "choosing freedom" to the British public also "choosing freedom" and voting for Brexit? There are no words.

cakeorwine · 20/03/2022 08:50

Johnson reminding us again how insensitive and tone deaf he is.

I wonder if he has watched Winter on Fire. All about what happened in 2014 in Ukraine. What they went through to get their President to listen to their views on the EU. The battles with the police. The deaths that were caused.

He forgets that many people in the UK voted to Remain in the EU. What message does he think that sends to those people when he compares Ukraine's fight against Russia for its freedom to the Brexit vote?

He forgets that many people in the Ukraine want to be a part of the EU.

Johnson seeks to divide people.

His actions and behaviour have not gone away. Because he can't change who he is.

DuncinToffee · 20/03/2022 10:34

"Wasn't that wrong?"

  • "We didn't do it."
"We saw you."
  • "No you didn't."
"There's evidence."
  • "We don't recognise that."
"Everyone hates you."
  • "LOOK HOW WORLD-LEADING WE ARE!"
UnconditionalSurrender · 20/03/2022 11:02

And now Sunak on TV this morning gaslighting us. We all misunderstood what Johnson meant. An analogy isn't an analogy when it's a Boris Johnson analogy. A party isn't a party when its a no 10 party. Having to defend this tawdry waste of space must kill a part of your soul if you have one.

UnconditionalSurrender · 20/03/2022 11:04

Does he not have speech writers? I can understand him, hard of thinking as he is, coming up with that wheeze of a speech. Surely no other right minded person would have have thought it was anything other than a terrible idea.

DuncinToffee · 21/03/2022 17:15

Latest from tne Met

Pippa Crerar
BREAKING: The Met Police have issued a statement saying they have now started interviewing "key witnesses" in the Partygate inquiry. This is in addition to 100 questionnaires already sent out.

This represents an escalation in police investigation which doesn't look like it's concluding any time soon.

No referrals yet to ACRO Criminal Records Office for issuing of Fixed Penalty Notices. But if evidential threshold is reached they will be made, police say.
