Because 7.5 is nearly full and we’re still waiting.

Very Putinesk.
We believe our spin so we know the population will too. Anyone who disagrees with us is wrong and the evidence should be ignored.

Fuckwits

Raab's get out of jail card for Johnson is

‘He spoke to the best of his knowledge and understanding’

Raab thinks it is acceptable for the Prime Minister to have less knowledge and understanding of the laws he has introduced than most primary school children did?

They continue to think that the British electorate are fools.

If that was genuinely the case, he should have qualified what he said to Parliament, instead of effectively saying he knew for certain that no laws had been broken.

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/the-times-view-on-boris-johnson-and-partygate-fine-mess-wmc6btxd0

The comment piece suggests that - given Johnson claimed, without qualification, that no laws were broken - we should be informed as to who was fined.

And -

"Public office carries obligations as well as powers. There could scarcely be a starker breach than to scorn the sacrifices made by the public during a historic pandemic. Mr Johnson must demonstrate, and not merely assert, his innocence."

For me it is not simply the breaking of legislation but the ridiculous posturing and lies afterwards.

jgw1 · 30/03/2022 12:12

The Prime Minister has just said in parliament several times that he is cutting taxes.

Presumably once one has lied in parliament and got away with it, one just keeps doing it?

EthelTheAardvark · 30/03/2022 13:15

Certainly Johnson does. But then he has been a habitual liar certainly since he entered politics, and probably all his life.

There's a war on!

Ah bless Moggy and his unicorns

Asked if the prime minister had misled Parliament, Mr Rees-Mogg told a caller on LBC: "The fact that the prime minister was given wrong information doesn't mean he misled people.
"The prime minister said he was told the rules were followed but that turns out not to be correct.
"If the prime minister is told information that is incorrect and passes that information on he has made no deliberate attempt to mislead anybody."

EthelTheAardvark · 04/04/2022 14:23

If the prime minister is told information that is incorrect and passes that information on he has made no deliberate attempt to mislead anybody.

Goodness, where do you start? How about when the PM is given information that is incorrect and he either knows it's incorrect or should know if he's doing his job? How about the scenario where all concerned know that the PM doesn't want to be given the correct information because he doesn't want to have to admit he knew? Or where the PM conveniently forgets the more damaging pieces of information? How about information that he doesn't have to be given by anyone because he was at the gatherings in question?

littledrummergirl · 04/04/2022 14:38

Sounds like Putin. Only being told what he wants to hear.
Not sure that's a great quality for a leader.

Couldn't Boris just have opened any newspaper at that time to read about how the rules had not been followed? Can he read?
DuncinToffee · 04/04/2022 15:33

Boris doesn't do details, he doesn't read documents, oven ready deal agreements so no I don't suppose he reads newspapers

Or maybe he only reads latin?

jgw1 · 04/04/2022 17:37

So we are now expected to believe that the whole country except Boris and Rees Smug knew there had been illegal parties in Downing Street, but they didn't because they can't read.

I wish those trolls posters who were adamant nothing wrong had been done would reappear.

DuncinToffee · 04/04/2022 17:42

Isn't that what they were telling us in the first few threads, Johnson not being in charge, lectures about civil service, parking fines etc and don't forget Keir's beer

Oh, yes, it is all coming back to me. Johnson is there to water the plants, tell jokes and generally entertain the troops. It is not his fault he went to parties since it is his job to party.
DuncinToffee · 12/04/2022 12:26

Update

Met Police say they’ve now issued more than 50 fines as part of the “partygate” investigation. That’s at least 30 more than before.

It is important to remember that there is no evidence of law breaking in No 10 Downing Street.

Keir had a beer

Sorry wrong squirrel.

"Boris knows what a woman is because he has had so many"

DuncinToffee · 12/04/2022 12:40

The squirrels are busy with fishy things Wink

DuncinToffee · 12/04/2022 13:58

Further Update

Downing Street confirm fine coming for Boris Johnson
"The PM and Chancellor have today received notification that the Metropolitan Police intend to issue them with fixed penalty notices. We have no further details, but we will update you again when we do.”

DuncinToffee · 12/04/2022 14:24

Carrie joining in as well

Ms Johnson spox: “In the interests of transparency, Mrs Johnson can confirm she has been notified that she will receive a Fixed Penalty Notice. She has not yet received any further details abt the nature of the FPN”

UnconditionalSurrender · 12/04/2022 14:24

So hes broken the law. The law which he authorised. That should be the end of him- in a decent, normal country. Is he going to hang on? Probably, as they think stuck in their little political bubble nobody cares.

knowinglesseveryday · 12/04/2022 14:27

So there you have it. We all had to do one thing, whilst they did another.

UnconditionalSurrender · 12/04/2022 14:34

I see Mrs Johnson's been fined as well. Not a great look is it? The pair of them will be convinced its a loony lefty plot.

Notonthestairs · 12/04/2022 14:45

It is a resigning matter.
But there are no PMQ's so they'll sit tight and hope other news overtakes.
That way they can hold off til local elections and see which way the wind blows.

I'm alright with Johnson and Sunak staying on. I think they'll sink this incarnation of the Conservatives.

littledrummergirl · 12/04/2022 14:50

What will be the next excuse for not resigning?
