Virginia Guiffre and Andrew settle out of court

From Metro
Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre have reached a ‘settlement in principle’ in the civil sex claim filed in the US, court documents show

Does this show his guilt? Water down in some way his actions? I’m sure some will say this proves she was only in it for the money. I think she and a lot of underage girls were abused but because of the wealth involved those guilty will never face justice. Can’t understand why I feel sad about this outcome.

Mummy got her cheque book out.

TerraNovaTwo · 15/02/2022 16:19

I'm not saying he's not guilty, but Giuffre has 'lost' primary damning evidence against Andrew - the photo in which he has his arm wrapped around her 17 year old self. That's the likely reason she has been forced to settle out of court.

@Classica

Mummy got her cheque book out.
Absolutely
Giraffesandbottoms · 15/02/2022 16:20

@TerraNovaTwo

What do you mean? The photo was fake?

TheKeatingFive · 15/02/2022 16:20

I thought he was determined to fight his case? Hmm

LadyCleathStuart · 15/02/2022 16:21

The thing is he was never going to face 'justice' she was only suing him anyway. There was never going to be any consequences for him beyond having to pay money. I hope she is happy with the outcome and finds some peace. I do wonder if it will mean she can no longer talk about it? I imagine that will be the case.

tulippa · 15/02/2022 16:21

Disappointing that any truth will continue to be hidden. Everyone will just assume Prince Andrew is guilty (he must be hiding something if he is prepared to pay out to stop a court case). Victoria Guiffre does not get proper justice. Lose lose all round.

No, not at all. I believe her! But Andrew's lawyers might argue that it is.

Marcipex · 15/02/2022 16:23

Poor old queen tho.

MatildaTheCat · 15/02/2022 16:24

He hasn’t admitted anything at all. He’s showing his deep concern for the victims of sex trafficking dontchaknow? Hmm

I’m interested in the money being paid to her charity. Will she be able to personally benefit to any great extent ?

PleasantBirthday · 15/02/2022 16:25

@Marcipex

Poor old queen tho.
She didn't do a great job as a parent. I know you all love her, but she was not a good mother, 0/4 functional adults raised.
IWasHotInTheNineties · 15/02/2022 16:25

I just know that so many people will say that she was only ever after the cash Sad

Saffy321 · 15/02/2022 16:25

Guiffre handed the photo over to the FBI

Georgeskitchen · 15/02/2022 16:25

It was a photo of a photo. Andrews lawyers wanted to see the original.

AlDanvers · 15/02/2022 16:25

Settling will not include an admission of guilt. Plenty of settlements are reached, without the accused party actually being guilty.

I, also, very much doubt the Queen is paying his settlement.

That said, I think he knows what he was doing was wrong, even if his actions 'technically' were within the law.

I also imagine, the stories about the original photo being lost hasn't helped her.

Thethreecs · 15/02/2022 16:26

I'm shocked but not shocked! I thought she said she was taking this all the way and it wasn't about money? I kind of feel saddened that she didn't get justice. And why on earth if he was as innocent as he said he was, has he paid out? I thought something was brewing alright when I read she lost the photo this morning.

Classica · 15/02/2022 16:26

Virginia Guiffre and Andrew settle out of court
VanCleefArpels · 15/02/2022 16:27

Weaknesses in her case:

Above age of consent in the jurisdiction in which incidents occurred
She was involved in “recruiting” other girls so arguably a “trafficker” (using same principle that led to Maxwell’s conviction)
Lack of primary corroborated evidence

They were likely to go big on the second of these at trial so was always likely to settle.

TheSnowyOwl · 15/02/2022 16:27

He said he would fight to clear his name and she said she wouldn’t settle as it was the principle. Now they’ve settled. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m just hoping this is the last time we need to suffer headlines about Andrew.

Theunamedcat · 15/02/2022 16:28

I'm really not sure how I feel about this

StationaryMagpie · 15/02/2022 16:28

sorry.

she was the one insisting it went to court, and has now backtracked once the original of that picture can't be produced.

Clearly her lawyers don't think the case will fly without that evidence.

UserBotLurking9to5 · 15/02/2022 16:28

Oh shit
I wanted her to go to court. SHE wanted to go to court

nancy75 · 15/02/2022 16:28

No surprise, this case was never going to send him to prison, so she was never really going to get justice. Everyone has a price & we are talking about people with deeper pockets than most.
Does she get the money or is it going to charity?

StationaryMagpie · 15/02/2022 16:30

its going to charity.

LookItsMeAgain · 15/02/2022 16:30

Bet he was sweating about the prospect of having to give evidence in court!
