Virginia Guiffre and Andrew settle out of court

Suzanne999 · 15/02/2022 16:15

From Metro
Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre have reached a ‘settlement in principle’ in the civil sex claim filed in the US, court documents show

Does this show his guilt? Water down in some way his actions? I’m sure some will say this proves she was only in it for the money. I think she and a lot of underage girls were abused but because of the wealth involved those guilty will never face justice. Can’t understand why I feel sad about this outcome.

Andrew was always going to settle. There was no way the royal family would ever have let this be slugged out in court.

Andrew’s folly was not settling earlier. But he’s a very stupid man.

StrawberryPot · 15/02/2022 16:46

*in his particular position

Innocenta · 15/02/2022 16:46

Very interesting to see who on MN feels the need to stand up for creepy Prince Andrew. Remember, he wouldn't even bother to piss on you if you were on fire...

But do continue caping for him if it makes you feel good. Hmm

UserBotLurking9to5 · 15/02/2022 16:46

Hopefully rich entitled lower ranking royals will think twice about having a 17 year old served up to them for sex, like an hors d'oeuvre.

RestingMurderousFace · 15/02/2022 16:46

@Chloemol

She hasn’t got the evidence having ‘lost’ it

Not sure i have ever believed her anyway, I think she knew exactly what she was doing and is now after money

That said he is a arrogant twat who believed he could do what he wanted

That's kind of my feeling too. Neither of them strike me as particularly pleasant people.
TheKeatingFive · 15/02/2022 16:46

She's made sure the whole world knows what an utter scumbag he is and no amount of payoff will reverse that. So well done Virginia, you took on a powerful abusive man and came out on top.

Hear hear, great job by her.

Duntelchaig · 15/02/2022 16:46

She’s settled out of court before. This was v predictable. Offer her enough ££ and she will allow a statement to be made where PA a) donates to charity and b) doesn’t have to admit to any wrong doing. She must have got a lot of ££, so much she darent publicise what price she can bought off.

StrawberryPot · 15/02/2022 16:46

It's the same as admitting guilt.

It's really not.

Innocenta · 15/02/2022 16:46

@HelloFrostyMorning Yep. There will always be people like you who support abusers.

TheKeatingFive · 15/02/2022 16:46

I know right? Can't say I'm surprised though.

TheKeatingFive · 15/02/2022 16:47

It's really not.

You can keep telling yourself that. Doesn't make it true,

StationaryMagpie · 15/02/2022 16:47

not sure why you think i'm standing up for him. i'm not, the blokey is a sleazy weasel.

I'm allowed to think that this civil case was a joke and a money grab.

Innocenta · 15/02/2022 16:47

@RestingMurderousFace Do you always draw equivalencies between abusive men and victims? Or is it just because he's royal...?

peboh · 15/02/2022 16:48

@montysma1

It's the same as admitting guilt. If you were innocent, would you REALLY agree to pay you false accuser a lot of money? I would be gagging to get to court.
Not necessarily! However looking at it the opposite way, why wasn't she forcing it to go to court? Why did she settle? She said she wouldn't settle for any amount, and was taking it to court no matter what. What suddenly changed her mind?
blyn72 · 15/02/2022 16:48

If this is true, ie just a rumour, I feel sorry. I hoped it would go to court and he could clear his name, if innocent of the charges. It is disappointing. I read that the royal family didn't want him to have a court case and actively discouraged it but I don't know how true that is, it's all hearsay.

Ah well, let's see what happens next.

Blossomtoes · 15/02/2022 16:48

Nobody has supported abusers. For goodness sake calm down, people are allowed to disagree with you.

Classica · 15/02/2022 16:48

I think he should agree to being interviewed by Emily Maitlis again. He did so well last time, and he could spell out exactly why agreeing to this this pay out does not mean he's in any way guilty.

UserBotLurking9to5 · 15/02/2022 16:48

Yes, she did her best. I cant believe people are saying they dont believe her. Why, cos randy andy would never do this? You saw the interview right...

StoneofDestiny · 15/02/2022 16:49

Which is probably why he is making a charitable donation instead because it’s not compensation

Ok - you don't make a substantial donation to a woman's charity that you claim never to have met.

StrawberryPot · 15/02/2022 16:49

*It's the same as admitting guilt.

Thank you - I will. I'm not defending him. He is a loathsome man. But I've listed some credible reasons why he would settle whether or not he's guilty.

tkwal · 15/02/2022 16:49

Blossomtoes, that's not what I remember from the news at the time , no I don't personally know any other veterans but I know there was no room for passengers .

nancy75 · 15/02/2022 16:50

It’s not the same for us though is it? Every newspaper in the world & half of Twitter wouldn’t be interested if you or I were on trial. We also don’t have the full weight of the royal family telling us to make it go away whatever the cost. I have no doubt he’s a scummy man but can understand why he’d pay up rather than go to trial even if he’s innocent.
MrsDThomas · 15/02/2022 16:50

Money speaks volumes.

blyn72 · 15/02/2022 16:50

It's also on Sky from 40 minutes ago.

Innocenta · 15/02/2022 16:51

@Blossomtoes It isn't nice when someone says the quiet part out loud.

Why do you think I'm suggesting you aren't allowed to disagree with me? I haven't reported any posts. As far as I'm concerned, everything can stand. But equally, I'm allowed to call it out as support for the abuser, Prince Andrew (which it is).
