Poor May elections will be down to a mid term protest vote

It depends how poor they are.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 11/02/2022 21:50

@Notonthestairs

I agree Alexandra - unless something else comes out or there are further scandals. And with Johnson there is always a strong possibility of that. Ridiculous that a PN that breaks his own legislation and misleads Parliament (more than once) is waved on by his own MP's.
The standards committee are currently reassessing whether to open a criminal inquiry into his behaviour as mayor in light of new information from Jennifer Acuri. It could lead to prosecution for misconduct in public office, which carries a potential life sentence. I have everything crossed!
longwayoff · 11/02/2022 21:54

Don't forget Mr Cummings. He is like a woman scorned and we all know what thats like. He is, I believe, just having a little rest letting Bozo relax, before he detonates another bomb. I hope he's saving the best for last.

DuncinToffee · 11/02/2022 21:58

A No10 spokesman confirms the prime minister has tonight received a questionnaire from the Metropolitan Police and will respond as required.

Has he found a lawyer yet?

I long for the days of Tony, Gordon, Maggie, Donald Dewar, Charles Kennedy, Ken Clarke etc etc...

One thing they did have was some honour, BJ has none, no shame, not a shred of moral fibre.

The longer people keep voting tory, the less chance we will see a return to some decent Tory MPs, remember BJ purged his party of many of them.

I find Dominic Cummings a very interesting character. He is only showing us what he want us to see and when he wants us to see it and has a lot of people eating out of the palm of his hand, (ironically the opposite group of people that he appealed to in 2016) there is a lot of other stuff going on below the surface. He is much more interesting than any prime minister or politician. Intelligence and cunning.
CSWife · 11/02/2022 22:17

Took me a while to find you. Who upset whom on the last one? Don't answer actually or we might lose this one too if someone wimps off that it's a TAAT when actually, please can we all remember, these threads were for ENJOYMENT in the downfall.

I for one and very much chuckling at the fact he has received a questionnaire.

DuncinToffee · 11/02/2022 22:25

Anyone watching The Last Leg?

You don't know DC do you? So whatever opinions you have formed about him are what he and/or the media want you to know.

I ve no idea if he is intelligent and cunning but i respected what he did in 2016, even though i vehemently disagreed with him on Brexit (though i'm not entirely sure he supported leaving the EU)

There are plenty of other people with photos etc that will use them to bring down DC.

Blossomtoes · 11/02/2022 22:27

He’s definitely intelligent and cunning. Positively Machiavellian.

longwayoff · 11/02/2022 22:29

Just in case anyone has mistaken my comment about Cummings as admiration, please be assured you are mistaken. He's just as detestable to me as he has ever been but as he's decided to play puppet master in removing Bozo I'm going to be entertained by it whilst it amuses him to do so.

DuncinToffee · 11/02/2022 22:31

From Sam Freedman

As the Met said yesterday that these questionnaires are equivalent to an interview under caution, Boris Johnson takes the dubious honour of being the first PM to be cautioned by police in office.
Blair was interviewed by police in the cash for honours affair but at a witness and not under caution.

StormzyinaTCup · 11/02/2022 22:41

No I don't.
But I think it's pretty obvious he is playing people and manipulating (again) - I'm quite content to just sit back and watch how it all plays out. Interesting stuff.

Well I didn't take your post as admiration longwayoff so you are all good. I do, but I think I might be the only member of that particular club!
Blossomtoes · 11/02/2022 22:58

I didn’t either. It was perfectly clear what you meant @longwayoff.

Notonthestairs · 11/02/2022 22:58

"Former Prime Ministers would have resigned at this point, and Boris Johnson and his political and media supporters know it

Had this been a Labour Prime Minister, Boris Johnson and his political and media supporters would be baying for a resignation, and they know that too"

From David Allen Green.

What interested me was the post responding saying that as a high street solicitor he would have lost his job over the same conduct.

Cummings is here to break things/people/causes. The Conservative party are, I imagine, top of his list. And then Brexit. Never boring.

StormzyinaTCup · 11/02/2022 23:14

Boris (and his wife) are top of the list but I don't think he is out to bring down the Conservatives and Brexit to him is old news. I rather fancy he wants to get back in on the coat tails of either Sunak or Gove and pick up where he left off dealing with the civil service.

Alexandra2001 · 11/02/2022 23:17

Why does everyone think this is only DC's doing? 100s work at Downing Street, plus politicians coming n going, many will think Bozo is an idiot and the numbers of photos available must be in the '000s! Bozo even had his official photographer there!

The guy thinks he has done no wrong, so took few precautions, bit like his sex life.

Alexandra2001 · 11/02/2022 23:20

Bringing down BJ & spouse will bring down the Tory party too, leading to a Con defeat at the next GE, so DC will have very little time to attack the civil service.
Whatever DC's aims (if he is heavily involved) it isn't to get back in, unless its with Labour?

DePfeffoff · 11/02/2022 23:29

Former Prime Ministers would have resigned at this point, and Boris Johnson and his political and media supporters know it

Former Prime Ministers, even idiots like Cameron, would never have got into this mess.

DuncinToffee · 11/02/2022 23:29

Telegraph
Boris Johnson is expected to argue he was working in the Downing Street flat when there the night of the alleged 'Abba Party'.
Allies are pointing to the part the Sue Gray report which notes the flat has a "dual office and private purpose"

David Allen Green
.You do not put ‘arguments’ in questionnaires, but state facts
Johnson’s allies have no idea

DePfeffoff · 11/02/2022 23:31

I do feel slightly sorry for all those no. 10 staff members who have received their questionnaires. They must have thought they were invulnerable given that the PM was happily joining in so many of their get-togethers and knocking back the booze with them.

DePfeffoff · 11/02/2022 23:32

Hmm, so when I was working at home all through the pandemic, I could in fact have invited my work colleagues in for a knees-up? Along with my partner and the person doing my decorations?

Peregrina · 11/02/2022 23:34

So does this mean that Johnson might get off, but Carrie won't? He won't show her any loyalty if he needs to save his own skin.
