Stuart was also an inept minister from what I heard. More failing upwards. It is so depressing.

balalake · 14/02/2022 11:20

If I worked in the manufacturing centre he is visiting, he would not be there for long, if I got a chance to meet him. I think any such place should refuse a visit, they could at least claim security reasons surely.

He is going to big up two new green freeports as a brexit bonus.

Freeports existed and were allowed when the UK was in the EU

They also suck in business from outside the area... & go against the WA he negotiated, not that he'll care.

But the biggest problem for BJ and Levelling up is 2 years in and nothing tangible has been done and it wont be by the time of the next GE either, people will see through a lick of paint and new zebra crossing.

Could it be that Cummings is both vengeful, vindictive and doing a great public service?

Cummings does what suits him, great public service hasn't/doesn’t come into it unless it’s to serve his purpose. It’s working quite well at the moment so all credit to him.

DuncinToffee · 14/02/2022 12:23

Have I Got News For You tweet
Amid reports PM will argue lockdown parties were ‘part of the working day’, nurses that spent 12 months working in a bin bag admit they couldn’t move for all the crisps and prosecco.

..we don't know what motivates Cummings, personally, i don't think anyone who spent a few years in Russia (other than on official business) should be allowed near no10 - especially someone with his views on Govt/civil service. Russia may not be the USSR anymore but fundamentally, it has not changed.

Putin was a big supporter of Brexit, DC achieved that along with Johnson - my how times have changed !

longwayoff · 14/02/2022 13:11

I doubt that public service is at the forefront of his mind and its pretty clear that Putin has found Brexit very helpful so I'm dubious about Cummings' worth as a servant to the British public. But while he's working on Bozo: the Downfall it's fine by me.

It may be a coincidence that Cumming's current actions appear to be in the public interest, but sometimes these things do coincide.

But I think I may be over enthusiastic. Cummings gave us Bozo. I shudder to think what will replace him and hope Cummings has no hand in that.

Highly unlikely to be a coincidence more a facade.

But while he's working on Bozo: the Downfall it's fine by me

And while he was working on Brexit that too was fine for a lot of people.

I did have a cancer diagnosis during the pandemic. I think the media have a lot to answer for ramping up the fear and putting people off going to the doctor. Constant CV hysteria.

We know that the data shows people weren’t going for checks because referrals dropped dramatically. Please could we leave that there. I have plenty of personal anecdata, but it is too painful and I really don’t want to bring that onto this thread.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 14/02/2022 14:53

So the Libdems have tabled a motion to amend parliamentary rules about calling liars liars in parliament. The only way the tories can stop it going through is to publcly vote in favour of being able to lie to parliament without consequence. Lets see how they handle that one. Grin

.@BorisJohnson says he's said 'more than enough' about his discredited Jimmy Savile slur after @Keir_Starmer confirmed he'd received death threats since the claim was made

That smirk says it all, even after Jo Cox and David Amess, he doesn't care.

He really is piece of shit. That’s akin to the “bodies piling up” gem.

DuncinToffee · 14/02/2022 15:10

I have got that stuck in my head now, thanks CoffeeCreams Grin

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 14/02/2022 15:12

It seems like Johnson is cutting short his trip and he is heading back to chair a Cobra meeting on the Ukraine crisis.

Wonders how well the trip went so far...

Well, aren't you lucky. I'm still waiting for my twice-postponed supposedly urgent oncology appointment. Combination of losing staff to Brexit plus covid, apparently. And that comes from the hospital, not from any CV hysteria.
