New week - wonder what it'll bring?

Noticed there is lots of gentle reference to Sunak in the news this weekend almost lining him up to take over.

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 14/02/2022 08:12

Johnson visiting Scotland today - though he won’t meet any of the general public. Can’t think why.
Place your bets on what he’s pulled out of the dressing up box. I reckon it’s a hard hat and high viz day.
Oh and his lawyers are going to argue that attending parties is part of a “working day”. Riiiight.

CSWife · 14/02/2022 08:31

What's the rule on masks in Scotland now? Do we expect some flouting by the PM?

I hope so
AuldAlliance · 14/02/2022 09:20

A lying, incompetent PM, whose failures led to huge excess Covid mortality, breaking the rules ordinary people have to follow, while on a visit to a country his fellow MP's regularly mock and clearly care nothing about. A country whose devolved government - elected by infinitely more democratic processes than those which propelled him to the power he's clinging onto - he routinely ignores.

What a lovely, positive, encouraging image to kick off the week.

longwayoff · 14/02/2022 09:26

I'm hoping for a kilt, a sporran and a Tam O'Shanter, a Highland terrier and a glass of whisky. But you're probably right, hi vis and hard hat. May the Scots give him the welcome he deserves rather than the one he's expecting.

DuncinToffee · 14/02/2022 09:27

I see he isn't meeting Douglas Ross either.

DuncinToffee · 14/02/2022 09:29

Manufacturing plant visit is first on his list, somyes hard hat and hi viz.
Would be nice if someone could play some appropriate music in the background.

Maybe the Benny Hill theme tune?

Okay, so Boris Johnson vs The Umbrella is seriously one of the funniest videos I’ve seen so I gave it a soundtrack. I await my Emmy. For your consideration… t.co/cTQc6fNg4a twitter.com/wyliewithers/status/1420946508736724994?s=20&t=3Ohy9CFEEo2JsU58Y9DrXg

CSWife · 14/02/2022 09:55

I was wondering if there would be a visit to a hospital or vaccination centre of some sort. Feels like we haven't had one of those for a couple of days.

DuncinToffee · 14/02/2022 10:00

He is visiting an oncology centre in north-west England as well.

merrymouse · 14/02/2022 10:03

Is he going to talk about people not getting cancer diagnoses because they didn’t think they should be troubling their GP, or having treatment cancelled, but none of that mattered because the regulations were just pretend?

merrymouse · 14/02/2022 10:13

Is he going to ask a scientist to explain what they think will happen when self isolation ends, and advise people who are worried?

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 14/02/2022 10:42

Was reflecting on how the anger about the parties is gradually dissipating, to be replaced by a sad weariness. I think this is Johnson's calculation - his shamelessness is deeper and wider than the public's revulsion, and he will just sit it out, until everyone is too fatigued to care any more. Then at election time, just roll out a whole bunch of shiny new lies. It is very sad for the country.

Perhaps the publication of new photos or the issue of FPNs will change things. Feels like a holding pattern at the moment.

Well there are some posters on here who are trying very hard to keep it at our forefront of our minds by arguing that it is acceptable for the Prime Minister to have a birthday party when children couldn't.

The problem is those lies also need to be told to his MPs, and it looks like the different factions are losing patience. There will also be more drip drip with gaffs and scandals.

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 14/02/2022 10:52

Very true - their presence would suggest a degree of ongoing concern! Perhaps a grey Monday morning is not the best time to be reflecting on the direction this country is going in, but dear god...what an absolute shambles we are.

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 14/02/2022 10:55

Yes, there do seem to be warring factions of back benchers dont there.
Interesting to hear Steve Barclay's comments about small state/less tax - seems difficult to square with the (supposed) levelling up agenda. Wonder what the red wallers thought about that.

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 14/02/2022 10:57

I see Gisela Stuart has been appointed as civil service commissioner...I mean just FUCK OFF

ClaudineClare · 14/02/2022 10:58

The thought of him winning another election is too much to bear. I wonder if he really would want to serve another term, though. He might be bored of it all by then.

longwayoff · 14/02/2022 10:58

Where have we come to when I'm relying on an embittered ex-employee to unseat the PM of this country? Nowhere good but that is where we appear to be. We know that Cummings is both vengeful and vindictive. We also know that, especially when Bozo assures everyone that there's nothing else he has hidden, there's more. Much more and with photos. So don't lose heart people, it's just taking longer than expected.

Of all the politicians we have ever had, the contempt i feel for her knows no bounds.

Someone who took advantage of being able to travel relatively freely to the UK to live, study, work and love here but then set about removing that from millions of young people around europe and here in the UK.

Perhaps even worse (if that is possible) is that she rose to influence under Blair, one of the UK's most pro european PM's but used her position to undermine the UK's place in Europe.

I don't see his actions as either vengeful or vindictive, rather that he is doing us all a great public service.

Could it be that Cummings is both vengeful, vindictive and doing a great public service?
