I’ve had an iv for kidney infections and would have assumed most had one at some point but apparently not.

PurpleDaisies · 06/02/2022 22:39

I doubt it. I haven’t.

MeAndHimAndHer · 06/02/2022 22:41

Nope not had one. Nor have dh or dd.

sjxoxo · 06/02/2022 22:41

What’s an IV? Do you mean a drip? Like the type in hospital. If yes, then yes I’ve had one. Only in hospital though x

Namechange600 · 06/02/2022 22:42

I’ve had more than I care to remember due to severe endometriosis. Suspect I’m in the minority though

DramaAlpaca · 06/02/2022 22:42

I haven't, nor have any of my children.

Sausagesausagesausage · 06/02/2022 22:42

Nope. I've just had to Google what one is.

bloodywhitecat · 06/02/2022 22:43

I haven't but DH has had many.

jimmyreckon · 06/02/2022 22:43

I expect there are a lot that haven't ever been in hospital - particularly males- I do t think cannulas are standard for child birth so most woman wouldn't have had one either.

Gizacluethen · 06/02/2022 22:44

I've had a few for various reasons

formalineadeline · 06/02/2022 22:44

I doubt "most people" have been cannulated let alone cannulated specifically to receive saline.

NewbieDivergent · 06/02/2022 22:44

Yes I have and dd1 has and most of my family have.

aibutohavethisusername · 06/02/2022 22:44

I’ve had loads.

apprenticewage · 06/02/2022 22:46

Yep I have, and so has my DS, my dh and my dd have not. My dh has never spent a night in hospital and he's 45.

SC215 · 06/02/2022 22:48

@jimmyreckon

I do t think cannulas are standard for child birth so most woman wouldn't have had one either.

All women in labour get the joy of two cannulas at my trust. It's in case they need it, and it's safer than leaving them without one, and then struggling to cannulate them if they do start to bleed.

And no OP, I've never had an IV.

Mogwig · 06/02/2022 22:52

Nope never.

Redeyed · 06/02/2022 22:57

I've had loads.

NauseousNancy · 06/02/2022 23:00

I’ve had one - when I was induced. One and only time I have spent any time overnight in hospital.

Husband has never had one, neither have my kids.

jimmyreckon · 06/02/2022 23:01

Ah - it's a been a while @SC215 Grin

CoffeeRunner · 06/02/2022 23:01

I've had something or other via IV to speed up labour following induction.

Other than that, no.

LawnFever · 06/02/2022 23:05

Nope, never have and neither has DH.

I’ve never had any kind of operation or had to stay overnight in hospital to need anything like that luckily.

Nousernameforme · 06/02/2022 23:07

I had an iv when I got induced. The only time I've had one neither dp or any of the dc have had to have one touch wood 🌲

swapsicles · 06/02/2022 23:09

Nope, pretty sure I've been cannulated but no need for anything that I can remember, was for childbirth and a quick minor gynae op

OldTinHat · 06/02/2022 23:10

Nope.

OfstedOffred · 06/02/2022 23:12

I've had cannulas in both births for different reasons. I'm not sure if I've had IV fluids though. Can't remember Grin

DD has though, twice. She has had a central line as well.

justasking111 · 06/02/2022 23:13

Been cannulated but never needed an IV .
