I know it’s been done before but I’d love a slightly different spin on it.

You win the euromillions tonight. The rest of the night will be a blur.

You wake up tomorrow morning - what’s the VERY first thing you do?

No “I’d start a charity” or “I’d set up a dog rescue” etc etc as you wouldn’t do that TOMORROW - what would you do tomorrow?

Personally I’d just go shopping, buy loads of clothes, trainers etc (not designer as I’m not into that shit) have a nice lunch somewhere … go home and start looking on Right Move

OP posts:
FawnFrenchieMum · 04/02/2022 14:28

I’d book a holiday! Then get on right move and start thinking about what I’d want from a house.

ChittyBangs · 04/02/2022 14:28

Exactly the same as you.
Off to the shops, boozy lunch and look for houses.
Id also book the dentist to get my teeth done.

Christienne · 04/02/2022 14:28

Go to the car showroom and order my dream car.

FawnFrenchieMum · 04/02/2022 14:29

DH would start looking at cars! He can drive me to the airport 🤣

Phos · 04/02/2022 14:30

Start drafting my resignation letter and making a list of all the naughty things I would do during my notice period.

gelatodipistacchio · 04/02/2022 14:33

I'd get complete confirmation that I really am a lottery winner and the sum of my winnings before doing absolutely anything else.

If confirmed and I would get more than say £200k pre tax, I would upgrade my April holiday plans asap to something ultra deluxe, hire a nanny, and plan a loft conversion.

Theunamedcat · 04/02/2022 14:34

Buy my friend a decent car she is pissing loads at this one and now someone has hit it

And while I'm at it buy myself one

Look for houses one for my daughter one for me (I do that anyway I will never be able to afford one)

Book a meal out for me and the family at a safari park nearby plus a day out on a the rides and see all the animals

PenCreed · 04/02/2022 14:34

A very nice lunch out, plus booking a holiday somewhere. As this is a complete fantasy where Covid etc isn't a problem, maybe New Zealand but flying first class.

Pazuzu · 04/02/2022 14:35

Wait for the responses to end up on an article somewhere.

MonkeyPuddle · 04/02/2022 14:35

I’d ring work and hand in my notice.
Go buy a celebratory meal from Waitrose, not my usual lidl stuff.

RincewindsHat · 04/02/2022 14:38

Ask my rich friends to recommend a financial advisor and wealth manager.

Chely · 04/02/2022 14:38

Would keep it quiet and continue doing what I normally do.

SpaghettiArmsMurderer · 04/02/2022 14:42

Call in sick to work! I’d need time to think about what I’d do. Then buy a new pair of trainers and a new coat. And a treadmill. Couldn’t go too mad though as presumably it takes a little while for them to get the money to you?

FindingMeno · 04/02/2022 14:43

I would go into work as usual and have a good long think for a good long while.

Shoxfordian · 04/02/2022 14:50

I’d go straight to selfridges to buy some handbags

Teaforme123 · 04/02/2022 14:53

Id book the best holiday for the summer, go out for a lovely meal and get on Rightmove!

FinallyHere · 04/02/2022 15:04

Don't think I'd honestly do anything different. I would go about my business letting the whole idea sink in.

Financially, we are pretty comfortable and mortgage free because old-ish. Really love my job so wouldn't immediately want to give it up.

I'd mostly start dreaming about what to do, like upgrading some plans we have for a family get together in the summer.

Mostly, I would also be thinking long and hard about how to give some away without opening myself to future requests for more , in the way once a charity has you on their books as a donor, they send begging letters asking for me. To family and to local good causes.

It might sound sad but I already like my life the way it is and wouldn't be so quick to change it. I wouldn't want to be known as a big donor so would be looking for ways to support people snd causes anonymously which is tricker than you might image.

While my late DFather was alive, I knew that the very first thing I would do if I ever won loads would be to put £1M in a simple account for him and tell him that was his rainy day money so he could start spending his quite generous final salary pension, which he was always inclined to save for a rainy day.

And now it's me saying there isn't all that much I would like to do Sigh.

HelloDoris · 04/02/2022 15:07

Do some online browsing.. I'm cooped up inside due to covid so couldn't do any spending. Angry

Beeinalily · 04/02/2022 15:10

But a home. Any home. Just as long as it's mine.

washingmachines4 · 04/02/2022 15:18

Pay off the mortgage including the penalty for early repayment. I'd just be so happy to know it was gone, and I am happy to stay in my current house forever so no house hunting for me.
I would take the dog out for a long walk and work out what I could farm out as jobs to reduce my list: hire builders, cleaners, housekeeper, gardeners

DoubleHelix79 · 04/02/2022 15:21
  • look several times at confirmation email to make sure I haven't imagined things
  • have a cup of tea
  • convince baby and reception age child to get dressed and eat brakfast
  • look into tax implications and financial advisors
  • look at confirmation email several more times
  • spend rest of the day on playground / go for walk around village / watch paw patrol
  • be too exhausted to think about money
user1471543094 · 04/02/2022 15:22

Would phone in sick as well for a few days to think about things. =

Ideally I would like to stay in my job 3 days a week but have all of kids holidays off, including the summer so probably not feasible in the end up. But i would work for a few weeks/months for money to come in and adjust. Would probably only stop when building my dream house which would be my new full time project.

Then I would drive to the caravan park I love and get myself on list for next available top of the range caravan.

Mainly what I would look forward to is going to sleep/waking up without my debt being pretty much my last and first thought every day.

I remember years ago someone I vaguely knew committed suicide and it really shook me. He was married with 3 young kids. I always vowed that if I won lottery I would put a few grand through his poor wife's letterbox.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 04/02/2022 15:25

I think I wouldn’t do anything quickly

I agree with quadruple checking it was true!

Get financial advice

Generally get on with day as normal

Try to make sure no one found out but enjoy being financially secure. Go part time at work probably.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 04/02/2022 15:26

Of course have a cup of tea goes without saying!

washingmachines4 · 04/02/2022 15:28

Just realised I wouldn't have the money yet on the next day would I? Duh! Sorry, so i wouldn't be paying the mortgage off, I would wait for the money to land in my bank account before doing that. I would just think about what would make the biggest differences to mine/my family and friends quality of life. I would commit to nothing that early, wouldn't tell anyone other than husband and wouldn't spend a penny before the money hits my account.
