To start a lottery based “what would you do” thread?

I know it’s been done before but I’d love a slightly different spin on it.

You win the euromillions tonight. The rest of the night will be a blur.

You wake up tomorrow morning - what’s the VERY first thing you do?

No “I’d start a charity” or “I’d set up a dog rescue” etc etc as you wouldn’t do that TOMORROW - what would you do tomorrow?

Personally I’d just go shopping, buy loads of clothes, trainers etc (not designer as I’m not into that shit) have a nice lunch somewhere … go home and start looking on Right Move

I would start the mother of all spreadsheets, it would be a thing of beauty…..

NatashaBedwouldbenice · 04/02/2022 23:32

I wish people had responded to the actual OP. It’s boring to read about people buying houses, holidays and cars.

SeeminglyOblivious · 04/02/2022 23:37

I agree @NatashaBedwouldbenice.

I think the first thing many posters on this thread should do after they win is start researching reading comprehension tutors.

HTH1 · 04/02/2022 23:44

I would find out how much and that I had definitely won then go out to brunch. Then I would spend the rest of the afternoon browsing dream houses and holidays and have a Chinese takeaway with champagne.

Once the cash was in the bank, my new (jobless) life would begin!

SleepingStandingUp · 04/02/2022 23:44

Draw up a budget. Is that tragic? I love a spread sheet. I'd draw up a plan of who I'd give what to and what we could spend etc.

If I couldn't get alone to do that, I also have to go and donate blood in the local city so probably would buy something whilst I was there but tbh I'd be so overwhelmed it'd probs ly just be a trip to Tiger and the noodle bar 😂

MrsSkylerWhite · 04/02/2022 23:51

Sit and think.
Our young people are both starting out. The eldest, married, young child, first home, stating a degree in September. The youngest, half way through first year of university on a course they’re really enjoying, leading to a potentially fascinating and fulfilling career.

Obviously, we’d want to do all we can to make life good for them but I certainly (think my husband would agree) am not sure that just giving them a bucketload of money would help them in the long-term.

I suspect we’d probably sit on the news, helping out subtly, until they’d forged their own ways.
Would buy both sets of parents a lovely house and domestic help immediately though.

ExhaustedMumma · 04/02/2022 23:53

We’re going on holiday tomorrow, so I’d still do that. I’d go for brunch and have a glass of champagne to celebrate.
I would also pop into the jewelers and treat myself to a pair of diamond studs and a very fancy watch. I’d order an electric car (not sure what make/model) ready for our return. I’d find an amazing nanny and hire her immediately to help with our 4 month old. I’d probably also find a beautiful house to rent somewhere for a while - maybe the Cotswolds - whilst we decided what to do long term.

Like a PP, I would find great joy in creating an amazing s/sheet and planning how to spend and gift the winnings.

5zeds · 05/02/2022 00:00

I’d lie in bed with dh cuddling and crying and then we’d all get up and go and get Dd from uni and be so so so happy.

LemonMuffins · 05/02/2022 00:06

Gutted I didn't bother playing today. I actually meant to and forgot Sad. It could've been me!

I probably wouldn't do anything until the money actually hit my bank account, but if I did brave it, I'd buy the following:

A Balmain dress
The Gucci bag I covet. Maybe a few others.
A Cartier watch
A Rolex for me and him
A nice dinner out
A holiday
Some other jewellery bits
A very discreet hit man Grin

Sparklesocks · 05/02/2022 00:10

I think I’d do a big scream and triple check I hadn’t got it wrong.
Then send an email to my boss saying Friday had been my last day….

Susu49 · 05/02/2022 01:53

Op, probably nothing, I'd be too stunned!

Once it eventually sunk in, I'd have to take care of practicalities and I still don't think I'd believe it once the money was in my account...My first priorities, though, would be to look after family and get on the housing ladder (I spose I could go straight to the top!). There are a couple of friends who've fallen on hard times that I'd like to help out.

After that I guess there'd be some holidays and I bit of a "I can't believe it" splurge but living the high life doesn't really appeal and I'd have to work out how to use the rest.

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz This southerner is reeling that you can buy all that for £1.5m Shock

@Lightning11 that made me laugh Grin

buddylicious · 05/02/2022 05:21

I probably wouldn't wake up tomorrow morning as I wouldn't have slept all night so would still be awake.

I'd have been working out how much interest a month I could get on my winnings and trying to figure out how much money to give to family and friends!

I'd be looking at a bigger house in the UK and somewhere abroad!

SleepingStandingUp · 05/02/2022 10:22

@duvetdayforeveryone

I'd go on Excel and make a spreadsheet. I'd list all the people I know that need money. I would then divide all the money up, also ensuring we had enough to live off in our old age. Any money left over would then go to charity, starting with The Trussell Trust. All I need is a roof over my head and food in my belly, and the people I would help don't regularly have that :(
I have much respect for someone who's first move is a spreadsheet, mine too 😂
StripedMousse · 05/02/2022 10:35

This is just fantasy.

I want to hear from real people who really have won. I want the details so I can vicariously experience it!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 05/02/2022 10:36

@StripedMousse I won £3 a few months ago. I bought fudge.

ShittyFingers · 05/02/2022 10:49

@JesusInTheCabbageVan I read that as £3m for some reason 😂

OP posts:
ShittyFingers · 05/02/2022 10:50

There was someone on here a few years back who claimed she’d won £68m and it had made her a depressive recluse. Could have been bullshit of course.

OP posts:
JesusInTheCabbageVan · 05/02/2022 11:03

@ShittyFingers would be the same answer if it had been £3m Grin

Reminds me... once when I was young, we were watching the draw and our first four numbers came up in a row Shock dsis and I were frozen, but ultimately it was only those four and we ended up winning a few hundred.

Anyway, I told DS this story at some point and it obviously made an impression, because when we were in the queue to buy a ticket he asked loudly, 'Mum, how much did you get when you won the lottery the first time?' Honestly, never known everyone fall so quiet so fast Blush

😂😂 bless him!

I remember the time I got an email from national lottery to say I was a winner and to log into my account. I shit myself, didn’t realise they sent that email no matter how much you won! I won £2.50. Never been so deflated in my life 😂

Nowayoutonlydown · 05/02/2022 12:26

I'd be on a flight to Orlando first thing with the family, Ddog too.

DamnUserName21 · 05/02/2022 12:27

Write my resignation letter. Look at houses and private schools online.

Theunamedcat · 05/02/2022 13:47

I won! £6.80 🤣 I need a few more zeros on that one 😂

Hotfootit · 05/02/2022 14:18

Write my resignation latter and say yes to the new puppy we’ve been offered.
Then I’d have a cup of tea and lol forward to a night’s sleep without waking with the ‘fear’ over our finances.
And I’d go out for lunch.

XenoBitch · 05/02/2022 14:22

Buy some wine and a takeaway, then browse GoFundMe and make a lot of strangers very happy.

notanothertakeaway · 05/02/2022 14:23

I'd contact the owner of the flat upstairs and offer to buy it

Would be great to turn the building back into one house
