I know it’s been done before but I’d love a slightly different spin on it.

You win the euromillions tonight. The rest of the night will be a blur.

You wake up tomorrow morning - what’s the VERY first thing you do?

No “I’d start a charity” or “I’d set up a dog rescue” etc etc as you wouldn’t do that TOMORROW - what would you do tomorrow?

Personally I’d just go shopping, buy loads of clothes, trainers etc (not designer as I’m not into that shit) have a nice lunch somewhere … go home and start looking on Right Move

Get a personal trainer. Buy another property and one for ds. Go on holiday a lot.

MintJulia · 04/02/2022 17:12

Check the money was in my account and I hadn't imagined it. Then:

Resign
Retire
Book a holiday
Book a table for dinner tonight

Redeyed · 04/02/2022 17:13

For me it would be new cars for me and DH first.

Property, I would take a bit longer to mull over.

I'd also go clothes shopping, book a holiday and treat friends.

WhyYesYABU · 04/02/2022 17:14

Put my house on the market immediately because I know we'd be leaving Northern Ireland (here because of husband's work) though don't know if we'd go 'home' to England or somewhere more exciting.

Go out for a really nice lunch and spend the whole day planning our new life.

We have very small children. Otherwise my answer would probably involve something more sexy and exciting!

Cherrysoup · 04/02/2022 17:17

Resign telling the head exactly why. If you resign before half term, you can go for Easter.

tiredanddangerous · 04/02/2022 17:18

Well dc2 has a football match at 10 so I'd be watching that. Might book somewhere nice for dinner though and call the bank to pay the mortgage off.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 04/02/2022 17:19

I would take a day off, and probably sit all day staring at my retirement money spreadsheet, making loads of tabs with all different scenarios, whilst my mind was racing crazily over:

who can I pay for to come visit?
who still has a mortgage that needs to be paid off?
when do our DC get to choose their new homes
please let them do so close by
where is the first holiday
oh shit. I should not have committed to working another 6 months!

Blossomtoes · 04/02/2022 17:21

Transfer £1 million into each of our adult children’s bank accounts - without telling them.

Yukkatree12 · 04/02/2022 17:22

The next day... I would look on right move of course, book driving lessons, look at new cars online... probably be on cloud 9! Write my resignation letter and never return to that place again! 😂

HeyMicky · 04/02/2022 17:23

Pack the DDs off to the PILs, go into London for an extravagant lunch. Invite some friends, not to tell, but to have a lovely time with. Drink and giggle all afternoon.

Make wild plans for the money in the taxi home.

MintyGreenDream · 04/02/2022 17:23

Would would browse 5 star holiday resorts and probably book a few.
Go on test drives for a new car.
Take ds on a toy shopping trip.

Mumoblue · 04/02/2022 17:25

I’d take my son out for the day, do a lot of shopping, eat out somewhere nice.

Obviously I’d have to look into a financial advisor pretty sharpish, because I think most people who win the lottery need that- but right now I’m on UC and it would really be nice to be able to take him out for a day and just not worry about money.

SquigglePigs · 04/02/2022 17:26

Go out for lunch somewhere as nice as possible with a 3yr old. Buy a bottle of good champagne for the evening then spend the whole day dreaming up ridiculously ambitious things I'd want to do with the money! (Knowing full well my DH is far too sensible for most of it!!)

gettingolderandgrumpy · 04/02/2022 17:29

The day after I’d won well I assume it’d take a couple of days to get the money so I’d probably just plan what to do holiday , house the usual .
I’d stay in a posh hotel somewhere nice for the evening or 2 then hopefully money will be in my bank by then so I can pay the credit card bill that I would’ve run up at the expensive hotel stay .

OnGoldenPond · 04/02/2022 17:30

@gelatodipistacchio

I'd get complete confirmation that I really am a lottery winner and the sum of my winnings before doing absolutely anything else.

If confirmed and I would get more than say £200k pre tax, I would upgrade my April holiday plans asap to something ultra deluxe, hire a nanny, and plan a loft conversion.

Lottery winnings are completely tax free so you get the lot to spend! Happy days! Grin
OnGoldenPond · 04/02/2022 17:34

@GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing

Of course have a cup of tea goes without saying!
But it would have to be Whittard a la Sally Webster Grin
TheVolturi · 04/02/2022 17:41

I would pack us all up in the car and drive up to the Scottish Highlands, find somewhere beautiful and luxurious to stay and chill for a few days while we decided what to do next.

ShittyFingers · 04/02/2022 17:45

What car would everyone get? I wouldn’t get anything too fancy as I wouldn’t want to draw attention to myself. I’d get a brand new top of the range Range Rover

OP posts:
SpaghettiArmsMurderer · 04/02/2022 18:08

I can’t drive for medical reasons so I’d get a driver or some sort of VIP account with a local taxi company Grin although, if I had my own swimming pool I wouldn’t need driving to the leisure centre…

DilemmaDelilah · 04/02/2022 18:19

Contact the estate agents about the house I saw advertised literally just today and arrange to view. Offer for it on the spot! It's perfect, just 3 bedrooms but it has an indoor pool......

felulageller · 04/02/2022 18:27

I'd go out for breakfast lunch and dinner, to the nice places, not wetherspoons!

I'd go for a facial and get my hair done.

I'd go shopping for a bunch of little inconspicuous things- books, make up, homewares.

I'd put an order in for a diamond eternity ring.

I'd go for a walk and spend time writing lists and looking on Rightmove etc.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/02/2022 18:30

I can't drive so I'd hire a chaffeur with a Mercedes.
Nephilim77 · 04/02/2022 18:30

Take great delight in handing in my notice to my complete narcissistic rat of a boss, then give a life changing amount to all the other staff to enable them to also resign and watch our delusional boss panic at the demise of the business.. Then (after sorting out all the family and friends) order a monster of a pickup truck!! Happy to stay put in my terraced house for a bit, just renovated and extended it recently, so I still like it… for now…

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/02/2022 18:33

Tomorrow. I'd invite all my family and friends for a meal in a nice restaurant and treat. Probably get drunk and sob with happiness! Then pay off my mortgage in one go, I've no desire to move at the moment as I want DS to finish school here where he's settled. I'd buy a flat in Zone 1 London and move there immediately after DS goes to uni (if he does) and sell this house then.

Suzanne999 · 04/02/2022 18:36

Family meeting to decide future- proofing for grandchildren and retirement ( eventually!) for Dds and partners. I’m a planner rather than a spender.
