Obviously he's running scared from his own side as well and Labour and the excellent contribution from Ian Blackford - no doubt Dennis Skinner would have done the same if still an MP.

However, there was no need for Johnson to stoop to the level of more lies - this time trying smear Kier Starmer with untrue allegations about Jimmy Savile.

They are just a bunch of agitators

Then why did they target Starmer and shout about Saville?

ClaudineClare · 07/02/2022 20:49

Why do people keep going on about Piers Corbyn being involved? He is not an MP or a person of any real influence. He is just another random loon who happens to have a well known brother.

ClaudineClare · 07/02/2022 20:52

Trying to link the murder of Amess to Rayner's scum remark is rather distasteful to say the least.

Clavinova · 07/02/2022 20:53

It was anti vaxxers who were protesting in support of Canada's 'Freedom Convoy (and no surprise Piers Corbyn was there)

Yes - I've just heard that Piers Corbyn was there. Appalling behaviour.

They were shouting that Starmer had protected a paedophile - where did they get that idea?

Very similar comment directed at Michael Gove - towards the end of the clip. Also, from the text; Referring to Mr Gove and the rest of the Cabinet, one of the protesters told a cameraman: “I think we should string ‘em from the gallows tomorrow, mate.”

Wasn't Mogg and his kids targeted by a mob over brexit

Yes - called a "Nazi" in front of his son;

www.thesun.co.uk/news/10170342/anti-brexit-march-rees-mogg-son-protesters-hurled-abuse/

Labour MP David Lammy says his comparison of Tory Brexiteers to Nazis ‘wasn’t strong enough.

Rayner...with her 'Tory scum' comments

Yes - twice - people forget the first occasion;

October 2020
Conservative MPs 'faced abuse' over Angela Rayner's 'scum' remark.
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-54675232

September 2021
Angela Rayner stands by labelling of Tories as ‘scum’.

Not forgetting this;

Keir Starmer
@ Keir_Starmer
Let's call the Delta variant what it is: the Johnson variant.

ClaudineClare · 07/02/2022 20:55

Oh fucking hell, here we go.

ancientgran · 07/02/2022 20:58

@StormzyinaTCup

None of them should be harassed by protesters but I think this one is on a different level. I don't think I've heard about protesters carrying a noose before.

This isn't the first time anti vaxxers have used a noose, they erected a noose and gallows outside Parliament a few days after David Amess' died.

Were they carrying and noose and saying who it was for. None of it is right but this is obviously linked to what Johnson said.
thecatfromjapan · 07/02/2022 20:59

Oh, I'm so glad I have a sense of decency.

I'm so glad I have enough character not to lower myself to the level - the squalid, squalid level - of minimising this.

Worse - of seeking to persuade others to minimise, and thus accept, this.

SueSaid · 07/02/2022 20:59

@ClaudineClare

If you read my comment I was saying if we say mobs act purely on the comments of politicians then surely inflammatory comments made by Rayner should be widely condemned?! But they weren't, they were often minimised particularly on here.

Or, we can all agree mobs are mobs and would hurl abuse at whomever had appeared at that specific time. They are opportunistic aggravators.

Blossomtoes · 07/02/2022 21:00

I have no words for this revolting defence of the indefensible.

Notonthestairs · 07/02/2022 21:00

🙄 so it's coincidental that a week after Johnson implied Starmer had prevented Savile's prosecution that this week mobs are shouting that he protects paedophiles?

Let's not forget Johnson smeared Starmer's reputation purely to distract from breaking lockdown legislation and misleading Parliament.

cakeorwine · 07/02/2022 21:02

Yes - there are some awful people out there who can be driven by the words of what people use.

Just to remind you

Priti Patel linking migrant removal to activist lawyers

cakeorwine · 07/02/2022 21:06

Boris DIRECTLY linked Starmer to Saville.

People know what he did. Decent Tories know what he did.

Decent people can see the consequences of that direct link.

Parker231 · 07/02/2022 21:06

The new Director of Communication isn’t going to be able to put a spin on this!

cakeorwine · 07/02/2022 21:10

It's a shame no one has asked any of the Cabinet Ministers in the last week what effect Johnson linking Saville and Starmer could have on people.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 07/02/2022 21:11

Johnson needs to recant, publicly, now.

And all his Cabinet members and junior ministers need to speak out as well.

Butterismylife · 07/02/2022 21:32

JJ’s posts have given me a good laugh tonight, it’s all very mad hatter’s tea party around here Grin
Much appreciated. I was feeling gloomy earlier.

Butterismylife · 07/02/2022 21:33

And for the rest here - perhaps stop feeding the, errr …..pigeons.

Yes that is awful. Doesn't excuse BJ for linking Starmer to Saville and making him a target.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/02/2022 21:41

One of the reasons Johnson is able to keep going lower and lower is because there are still people willing to keep defending or at least minimising what he says and does. We've seen where this heads, both here with Mps losing their lives and in the States with the storming of the Capitol.

If you defend this behaviour or if you minimise it then you are no better than Trumps baying mob.

WindyState · 07/02/2022 21:46

@JaniieJones

Oh come on. If we blame Johnson for Anti vaxx mobs hurling abuse at Starmer then we must blame Rayner for every attack on Tories with her 'Tory scum' comments? (Yes she made a half arsed apology later but only after the shocking murder of an MP)

Or, we can all agree that mobs are mobs and will use any excuse to cause disruption, attack people and shout abuse?

You think it's a coincidence that a bunch of braindead twats are hurling abuse at Starmer, directly repeating the completely discredited lie that Johnson used in a desperate attempt to deflect away from him being a completely useless prick who couldn't even obey his own rules?

Fucking hell.

jgw1 · 07/02/2022 21:47

@ClaudineClare

Why do people keep going on about Piers Corbyn being involved? He is not an MP or a person of any real influence. He is just another random loon who happens to have a well known brother.
I think some people think that Piers Corbyn is related to the Prime Minister who incited this mob.
SueSaid · 07/02/2022 21:50

'If you defend this behaviour or if you minimise it then you are no better than Trumps baying mob.'

No one has defended or minimised it. It is disgusting when mobs hurl abuse at MPs. Reports suggest it was a left wing momentum/anti vax protest where they started shouting 'why aren't you helping the working class' and escalated.

jgw1 · 07/02/2022 21:53

So you condemn Johnson's words of a week ago, linking Starmer to Jimmy Saville? A simple yes or no will do.

"No one has defended or minimised it."

You do repeatedly.
