Well it sounds like his MPs aren't impressed with it and want him to retract the statements and apologise. Hopefully they will make the right decision soon and we can get rid of this "not completely" a clown.
The problem is that it's a bit more complicated than I think some people realise.
Whilst there are I'm certain enough MP's willing to trigger a vote of no confidence, what's far less certain is if they would win it.
All BJ needs is a simple majority to win, and if he does then he cannot be challenged for another 12 months.
Realistically, this could be the best thing to happen for BJ.
It would mean he is Teflon coated for another year, in which time we will have the May elections, the end of the Met PartyGate enquiry and the publication of the full Grey report and whatever the outcome he could not be challenged (and we know damn well he won't resign).
MP's who are currently undecided/neutral or feel he's still worth backing might feel very differently after the above.
That's the reason why many anti Johnson MP's are holding fire on letters for now.
Behind the scenes I bet there is a hell of a lot of politicking going on to see how people would vote in a no confidence scenario and frankly it's not improbable that BJ's allies might want to see this contest happen sooner rather than later if they think they have the numbers to win now.
A year is then a long time for BJ to shore his position back up.
It should be straightforward I know. He's an arrogant lying shit and every Tory MP should be putting pen to paper and voting him out - but the problem is that being an arrogant lying shit isn't exactly seen as abnormal for a politician - more an occupational hazard and throwing out the leader who got your party an 80 seat majority isn't to be done until you're sure he's now a liability with the majority of the electorate and not the asset he was.
And let's face it - anyone who voted Tory in the last GE knew exactly the sort of person Boris was so it's not a forgone conclusion that "more of the same" is going to put them off voting for him again.
