Boris - new low

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 01/02/2022 16:50

Obviously he's running scared from his own side as well and Labour and the excellent contribution from Ian Blackford - no doubt Dennis Skinner would have done the same if still an MP.

However, there was no need for Johnson to stoop to the level of more lies - this time trying smear Kier Starmer with untrue allegations about Jimmy Savile.
@jgw1 So he's maybe like the butler or the maitre d?
More court jester I think, although I am sure some of his fans will be along soon to confirm the exact nature of the entertainment he was providing at these parties.

@ancientgran

Not so funny that Keir Starmer needed the police to get him away from angry anti vax protesters who were heard shouting Jimmy Saville jibes. I hope the PM is ashamed but I suppose that is hoping too much.

I just read about this and am absolutely disgusted. What is happening to this country?

Yes, this is what is so very low about it. BJ deliberately appeals to people's basest instincts to boost his own standing Appalling behaviour.

He reminds me of a poor teacher we had at school who couldn't command respect because he didn't lead by example, so he tried to gain popularity by letting us break the rules and he also created drama to distract from his own inadequacies.

All of this distraction from the real issues, in-fighting, leaking of news stories, flouting of rules etc comes from poor leadership at the very top.

Blossomtoes · 07/02/2022 19:02

I do wonder if this might be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

I think it might, and should, if he refuses to make a proper apology.
ClaudineClare · 07/02/2022 19:16

Harri's got his work cut out for him tonight.

It's awful isn't it. Gove was surrounded by anti vaxx protestors in Oct too. We know they aren't a bright bunch and don't seem to need any encouragement to go on the rampage.

Wasn't Mogg and his kids targeted by a mob over brexit? It's all too easy nowadays, social media seems to whip the pitchfork wavers up so easily. MPs all need police protection sadly.

HarrietPierce · 07/02/2022 19:49

What has just happened in relation to Keir Starmer is a direct result of Johnson's disgusting lie, JaniieJones .

Notonthestairs · 07/02/2022 19:49

They were shouting that Starmer had protected a paedophile - where did they get that idea?

Starmer is out and about fairly often - why did they start shouting that particular slur now?

They were also apparently carrying a noose.

HarrietPierce · 07/02/2022 19:56

JaniieJones refusing to see the very obvious link Notonthestairs

ancientgran · 07/02/2022 19:58

@JaniieJones None of them should be harassed by protesters but I think this one is on a different level. I don't think I've heard about protesters carrying a noose before.

Johnson has whipped this up and he now needs to calm it down by doing a proper apology and admitting he was completely wrong.

SueSaid · 07/02/2022 20:05

Oh come on. If we blame Johnson for Anti vaxx mobs hurling abuse at Starmer then we must blame Rayner for every attack on Tories with her 'Tory scum' comments? (Yes she made a half arsed apology later but only after the shocking murder of an MP)

Or, we can all agree that mobs are mobs and will use any excuse to cause disruption, attack people and shout abuse?

thecatfromjapan · 07/02/2022 20:05

Well, you either refuse to accept this erosion of politics and public life, if you grease the wheels to further degrade us all by pretending it's all 'business as usual', 'cut and thrust', etc.etc.

Personally, I care too much about our standards in public life and politics to pretend this is normal, is equivalent to normality and isn't an utter disgrace.

This was enabled by Johnson - who holds the role of Prime Minister - and is utterly unacceptable.

StormzyinaTCup · 07/02/2022 20:08

This isn't the first time anti vaxxers have used a noose, they erected a noose and gallows outside Parliament a few days after David Amess' died.

Parker231 · 07/02/2022 20:13

Lots of comparisons on Twitter between Trumps actions on 6 January and Boris in the House last week.

SueSaid · 07/02/2022 20:17

'This isn't the first time anti vaxxers have used a noose, they erected a noose and gallows outside Parliament a few days after David Amess' died.'

Exactly. Erosion of politics my arse this stuff has been going on for months with anti vaxxers and years before that for whatever reason the mob had come up with that week.

Anti vax mobs need arresting and given asbos.

Kendodd · 07/02/2022 20:18

I think this sums it up best. -

London Mayor Sadiq Khan tweeted: "This is what happens when fake news is amplified and given credibility by people who should know better."

Of course the PM won't care, too busy singing 'I will survive '.

Blossomtoes · 07/02/2022 20:18

Please stop. Just stop. You’ve had your fun but this is too much. There has been nothing but disgust in reaction to this from any quarter. Minimising and trivialising doesn’t work this time. This shouldn’t happen in any country that lays any claim to being civilised.
HarrietPierce · 07/02/2022 20:21

So was Starmer a target of anti vaxxers before Johnson's lying slur JaniieJones ?

Notonthestairs · 07/02/2022 20:21

"What happened to Keir Starmer tonight outside parliament is appalling. It is really important for our democracy & for his security that the false Savile slurs made against him are withdrawn in full."

Julian Smith MP (ex Chief Whip) gets it even if some on here don't...

ClaudineClare · 07/02/2022 20:22

Kendodd · 07/02/2022 20:22

@JaniieJones
Do you think any of them would have been shouting 'Jimmy Savile' if Johnson hadn't infected the country with his nasty lie about Starmer?
Johnson knows exactly what he's doing.

news.sky.com/story/keir-starmer-mobbed-in-street-by-protesters-as-police-escort-labour-leader-to-safety-near-parliament-12535748

The attack on Starmer wasn’t anti vaxxers- it was related to Boris’s comments on Jimmy Saville. This is Boris comment on Twitter - still not accepting any responsibility.

The behaviour directed at the Leader of the Opposition tonight is absolutely disgraceful. All forms of harassment of our elected representatives are completely unacceptable.

I thank the police for responding swiftly.

It was anti vaxxers who were protesting in support of Canada's 'Freedom Convoy (and no surprise Piers Corbyn was there). They are just a bunch of agitators.

There is literally nothing Johnson could do that would have you coming on here and going "yes but" is there?
