Boris - new low

Obviously he's running scared from his own side as well and Labour and the excellent contribution from Ian Blackford - no doubt Dennis Skinner would have done the same if still an MP.

However, there was no need for Johnson to stoop to the level of more lies - this time trying smear Kier Starmer with untrue allegations about Jimmy Savile.

@JaniieJones

'I am struggling with this notion that it is a media witch hunt'

'It’s part of the standard Tory defence'

It really isn't. Many people can see clearly the utterly unbalanced reporting. Starmer has beer and it's essential work, Johnson does it's rule breaking.

They should have been stricter. After the widespread hysteria following Cumming's exceptional circumstances trip to his family for child care they had a taste of how the public respond to these things so it does seem incredibly stupid that they weren't whiter than white regarding 'the rules'.

That said, again the Met will decide what if anything broke the law. Not itv or The Mirror.

The widespread misogyny aimed at Dorries is awful. Again if people cackle like this over Ange and her ringlets there's uproar.

Just think how different Boris Johnson's premiership would have been if he had sacked Cummings when he should have, instead of allowing that bizarre performance in the party garden.

Do you think they used the same table that Cummings sat up for their refreshments at the parties? Probably needed a few of them.

@Blossomtoes

It’s not misogyny. She’s tarred with the same brush as Peter Bone, they’re both complete jokes - haven’t seen any defence of him.
Well as Dominic Raab would say that is misogyny as well.
SueSaid · 05/02/2022 19:08

'It’s not misogyny'

Oh come off it. It is misogyny. Bone is not getting half the crap she is getting. The twitter baying mob are absolutely pathetic. #BeKind my arse.

jimmyreckon · 05/02/2022 19:09

Dorries is a product of her own making. I'm amazed a Liverpudlian can be a member let alone an MP for the Conservative and Unionist party

She's chosen to defend the indefensible whilst appearing to be under the influence and deserve everything she gets

user1471453601 · 05/02/2022 19:09

Somewhat off topic, but I need to know if there is a way to "mute" a particular poster? I try to scroll on by, but still, unfortunately, catch the odd sentence, and it's doing my blood pressure no good at all.

Thanks

Blossomtoes · 05/02/2022 19:14

Bone is not getting half the crap she is getting

Only because he’s doing fewer interviews. And appears to be sober.

cakeorwine · 05/02/2022 19:24

Well no, Starmer (sorry about whataboutery aka giving balance) had a beer and that was work

Well - I suppose the police are investigating and asking the difference between a planned social event with cake, beer and food in Downing Street with a meal when people are away from the office and working together.

cakeorwine · 05/02/2022 19:26

I guess you've probably answered this before.

A planned Downing Street event with food, cake and beer.

vs

A takeaway when someone is working away from home with his team.

People can see the difference. Can you?

I don't think people will have seen Bone doing the media rounds in the morning.

She's a Government Minister doing the media rounds. And channelling her inner Rosie Holt.

LizzieW1969 · 05/02/2022 19:28

You’ve obviously missed the revelation during the last week that it actually wasn’t Starmar who had that beer! It was on one of these threads.

And yet he said it was a work do. Didn't he know it wasn't him?!
cakeorwine · 05/02/2022 19:42

I honestly don't think Starmer having a beer when he had a take away during a by election visit in 2021 is going to have as much effect on voters on the many events being investigated by the police in Downing Street in 2020.

So looking forward to your spin on the May elections.

Peregrina · 05/02/2022 20:05

Has Starmer been involved with ten lockdown breaking events (better not call them parties) that we haven't yet been told about, that the Police need to investigate? If so, I have missed it.

Blossomtoes · 05/02/2022 20:07

Jesus are we covering this tired old ground yet again? It’s like Groundhog Day round here.

One particular poster won't give up repeating the 'whatabout Starmer' stuff. Even after everyone else has said yes, whatabout it? 😂
Blossomtoes · 05/02/2022 20:13

Maybe try ignoring them? It works really well when nobody rises to the bait.

NETSRIK · 05/02/2022 20:31

Will do but it is quite fun poking the bear

the bear seems to enjoy being poked
Blossomtoes · 05/02/2022 21:33

Notwithstanding, the same thing rehashed over and over is incredibly boring.

StoneofDestiny · 05/02/2022 21:48

Oh the irony that the picture of Johnson with the pint at the 10 minute party (aye right) was one of the 3 'vanity photographers' appointed by Johnson to do positive promo shots while he was refusing to go on TV and be scrutinised by journalists, and journalists were kept out of No 10 briefings. His salary was equivalent to £100,000 p.a.

Pride before the fall eh?

Have you not seen the crap that several males, from Fabricant through Rees Mogg to Johnson are getting? Why is it only down to prejudice when the person being stupid is female?

Well yes indeed, I'm sure that the rude comments from women about Fabricant and his hair are exactly the kind of misogyny that Dominic Raab wants to stamp out.

Yet more lying to Parliament now, with the ludicrous claim about a 14% reduction in crime. When will the speaker do something about it?

What can he do? Parliamentary rules were formulated when politicians were supposed to be honourable. Johnson has never made any pretence at it. The Tory MPs really have to deal with him, they’re the only ones who can.
