@MrsMigginsCat

He has to go surely? The man has no integrity, no humility and no moral authority at at all. In times past, a minister would have gone at the first whiff of a scandal. Heck, Profumo went after one lie to Parliament. Johnson lies over and over and over and he's still there. The man is a bumbling liability and I really hope that the more decent members of the Tory party finally send those letters to the 1922 and despatch him once and for all.
This sums up my feelings. He comes across as a total psycho, totally devoid of empathy or integrity. Surely many more letters will now be sent to the 1922 Committee. For me, it's no longer about the actual parties that took place, it's the repeated lies about them, which show his arrogance and his contempt for the rules and for the millions of people who did follow them.

I fear what might happen if he stays in place, especially considering the situation in Ukraine. I can imagine him using the situation to his advantage, as he seeks to have some sort of Churchillian moment, and tries to invent imself as the hero of the hour.

The only things he got right, IMO, were the vaccine pre-ordering and roll-out. However, I think the first lockdown came too late and many other mistakes were made which probably meant more lives were lost.

The Tories are doing all they can to save BJ and to my annoyance I see that their strategy is effective. He is escaping and partly because the Tories have no vote-winning replacement to hand. I applaud Ian Blackford's condemnation of BJ and his clear statement that BJ misled the Commons.

Florianus · 31/01/2022 17:36

I applaud Ian Blackford's condemnation of BJ and his clear statement that BJ misled the Commons.

For which Blackford was about to be expelled from the chanber, cunningly walking out before the Speaker had finished the charge.

All a bit theatrical, and Speaker Hoyle is, I think, a bit weak giving those who break the rules too many chances instead of ejecting them after the second transgression.

Notonthestairs · 31/01/2022 17:37

"The final Sue Gray report will be 'legalled' by the Treasury Solicitor and an external QC

There will be absolutely no legal basis for the PM to take a different view on whether the full Sue Gray report cannot be published for legal reasons

None at all

That is utter BS"

David Allen Green. I don't think I've seen him swear before!

Peregrina · 31/01/2022 17:38

I should imagine Putin would be mystified as to why 'parties' are being investigated at all

Do you think Putin's Govt is corrupt? IMO probably yes.
Do we want a Govt to rival them for corruption?

SuitcaseOfWhine · 31/01/2022 17:39

Have been watching too. To be honest, I gave up at the end with the repetition from BJ. It was really desperate and embarrassing. When a PM repeats himself in such a way it feels he is cowering behind that one thing. It is the only place he can hide.

The fact they had a party in aid of ousting Cummings says quite a lot about him and his wife. Not only a party, but one for getting rid of an aide. Is that normal in a workplace?

So, so embarrassing. I'm baffled that the rest of his party are behind him. The more they stick up for him and allow the mounting issues/lies/deceit, the more they appear complicit in it all. Very damaging to their careers. They are hoping that nobody is watching them too, but they are.

CSWife · 31/01/2022 17:39

Nadir Dorries actually made me feel physically sick during that BBC interview. Truly repellent.

Piggywaspushed · 31/01/2022 17:40

Nadir is the greatest typo ever.

Still my MP. Sadly.

Florianus · 31/01/2022 17:40

ClaudineClare:
Is Johnson about to face a criminal trial?

Hardly, the Met are only dealing with Fixed Penalty Fines in relation to Partygate and FPNs are not a criminal matter (unless the person concerned refuses to pay the fine, of course).

CSWife · 31/01/2022 17:42

Whoops Grin

Peregrina · 31/01/2022 17:42

The only things he got right, IMO, were the vaccine pre-ordering and roll-out.

The actual roll out was due to the dedication of NHS staff and any number of volunteers. Almost bugger all to do with Johnson.

ZittiEBuoni · 31/01/2022 17:43

Nadir Dorries GrinGrinGrin.

Typo of the year.

cakeorwine · 31/01/2022 17:46

Just checking in.

Wonder who's going to be reeled out tomorrow on the media round to talk about this?

Florianus · 31/01/2022 17:46

Indeed, one of the weeklies ran the story this week that Tory MPs, however much they mighy loathe Johnson, will not vote him out because they are terrified of the effect that Liz "The Cheese" Truss or Rishi "12 Mansions" Sunak might have.

derxa · 31/01/2022 17:46

No we don't want corruption. But is this corruption? It's certainly lack of integrity and arrogance . There is a rotten culture in No 10 and it needs reform. BJ needs to go
UnconditionalSurrender · 31/01/2022 17:46

I wonder what's in the photos. Maybe one of Johnson snorting a line off the cake slice. That would be too much to ask. I'm pretty sure the man has never touched a Class A in his life.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 31/01/2022 17:47

Yes this. And I'm not sure the ordering went all that well. We've waited much longer than the rest of the EU for the children's Pfizer vaccine.
sadpapercourtesan · 31/01/2022 17:48

Nadine Dorries going full Elaine Figgis was priceless Grin

"I've been a Boris Johnson supporter for twelve years now"

ProudAlly · 31/01/2022 17:49

The police investigation will take a year. That's why he's holding out. Kicking the can down the road.

But seriously, a YEAR??

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 31/01/2022 17:49

Is Nadir Dorries drunk?

Very true - and a wonderful job they did, too. But they wouldn't have been able to jab anyone had the government not taken an enormous gamble and placed huge orders for vaccines that were still under development.
ClaudineClare · 31/01/2022 17:52

@Florianus

ClaudineClare: Is Johnson about to face a criminal trial?

Hardly, the Met are only dealing with Fixed Penalty Fines in relation to Partygate and FPNs are not a criminal matter (unless the person concerned refuses to pay the fine, of course).

I know that Flo.

My post was in response to janiiejones who didn't seem to fully understand when sub-judice applies and thought it applied to the Partygate investigations and that was a good reason why Johnson stonewalled all questions in the House this afternoon. As we know it doesn't. Unless, as I said, Johnson is about to face a criminal trial. Which is wishful thinking.

Lottapianos · 31/01/2022 17:53

What the actual blue fuck will it take for the Tories to find a backbone and GET HIM OUT?! Just one of the disgraceful incidents of the past few weeks should have been enough to finish any PM. I am sick to death of the lot of them. Calls for him to resign are beyond pathetic - he has never done an honourable thing in his life, hes not going to start now. He needs to be kicked out in total disgrace, now

ClaudineClare · 31/01/2022 17:53

@cakeorwine

Just checking in.

Wonder who's going to be reeled out tomorrow on the media round to talk about this?

Peter Bone? Michael Fabricant? Nadine Dorries? Muffin the Mule?
Piggywaspushed · 31/01/2022 17:54

@CryingAtTheDiscotheque

Is Nadir Dorries drunk?
No, she's just very thick.
