Most overrated destination you’ve visited?

For me, it was Paris. Not an AIBU, I know

Munich. Boring. Oktoberfest was shit and eye-wateringly expensive.

New York. It's a big bustling city. I live in London, so it felt a bit underwhelming

Nice. Disgusting shithole. Monaco and San Remo were great though, but Nice is horrid.

Cornwall.

Mauritius. It was lovely don’t get me wrong but it just didn’t hit the spot, wasn’t what I was expecting.

Olive Garden 😹

Pisa. Boring shithole with a poorly-built building.

Venice.

Dublin

French Rivera, don’t get me wrong it’s nice, but there are so many more relaxing nicer places!

I guess it depends on your expectations.
Mine was Cambridge.

Ireland. I live in Scotland so our scenery is far more amazing- I couldn’t get the fuss.

NYC here too. I didn't hate it, but I was living in London at the time and it didn't feel worth all the £££ to go to.

Athens

It was very very dirty.

Morocco. Hated the creepy men and subjugation of the local women.

Bahamas. A dangerous and humid.

Hay on Wye. Yes, there are lots of bookshops, but they don't actually hold interesting stock. I was ready to spend a fortune on things I was looking for, I bought one book.

Amsterdam. We're spoilt with our capitals I think, London and Edinburgh knock the socks off most European cities, except for Rome, of course.
I was disappointed with Tunisia, we found the people outside of the hotel really difficult, either very hostile or over attentive.

We stayed at a 5 star resort but it was boring. The beaches are beautiful but the area itself is scruffy and feels unsafe.

Paris for me too. Such a dirty horrible city, I don’t understand why everyone romanticises it so much. Also Rome but I think visiting in the middle of summer when it was unbearably hot (and I’m a real sun worshipper) may have clouded my view so I’m happy to give it another chance.

Agree with this, was supposed to be a 5 star end to our African honeymoon and it was just a bit blah really.

New York . It was on my bucket list, so much so I returned to do Christmas after visiting one summer, thinking it must be better than my first impression and I'd give it another go but nope. I'd vote for London every time
