For me, it was Paris. Not an AIBU, I know

Dominican Republic.
The only thing I liked was the sea temperature.
Food awful and often dangerous - salmonella city. Staff miserable and lethargic. Off-resort areas dirty and intimidating.
Contrast with Mexico, Riviera Maya - I'd fly tonight if I could.

Manchester is a U.K. one I just think “so what?”

By contrast I think Birmingham has a real vibrancy to it, and Newcastle (not mentioned on here) would be on my “amazing and I never expected it to be” list

IWasFunBeforeMum · 27/01/2022 22:08

Jamaica outside the resort. Felt very unsafe as tourists. How can people hate Paris!!!!

Gilly12345 · 27/01/2022 22:08

I agree with TragicMuse with Hay on Wye, we visited last Summer, I am glad we went but it is a town with shabby book shops, the windows had books in the windows with dead flies hanging around, very overrated and poor quality of places to get lunch, will definitely NOT go again in fact we laugh about it now.

Bythehairywartsonmywitchychin · 27/01/2022 22:08

I give in! (Over tired) 😆😂 I meant I read destination as meaning place visited, not just a holiday destination..

feejee · 27/01/2022 22:08

Los Angeles, i hope never to have the misfortune to go there ever again.

gogohm · 27/01/2022 22:08

Pisa, was totally underwhelmed. It's not even that high. That said had nice pizza nearby

GrannyWeatherwaxsHatpin · 27/01/2022 22:09

Belfast. It was fucking awful - you'd need wild horses to drag me back and even then I'd resist as hard as I could.

I was ambivalent about LA. It was very sterile.

feliciabirthgiver · 27/01/2022 22:09

Another one here saying NYC, I just didn't get it, but then I LOVE London, Paris and Venice so don't listen to me!

Toddlerteaplease · 27/01/2022 22:09

Dublin and Edinburgh.

Tittie · 27/01/2022 22:09

Yorkshire.

Grange-over-Sands
Barcelona

jano69 · 27/01/2022 22:10

San Francisco - we clearly diidn't find the golden spots.

feliciabirthgiver · 27/01/2022 22:10

Ps my head office is in Slough so also have a soft spot for there!

MondayYogurt · 27/01/2022 22:10

Jamaica

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 27/01/2022 22:10

Kho Phangan was one I didn’t think lived up to it’s hype. Having loved Kho Phi Phi just beforehand and even more so some of the places we visited in mainland Thailand before that - especially Chang Mai - it was a surprising let down.

StripeySnail · 27/01/2022 22:10

@MountainAshley

Bondi beach. It was shit!
Just came on to say Bondi Beach. Really really don't understand the appeal.
LoudSnoringDog · 27/01/2022 22:11

Dubai
Monaco

HeronLanyon · 27/01/2022 22:11

The Grand Canyon. I can’t really explain this but I honestly was underwhelmed. Not sure why.

AmberLynn1536 · 27/01/2022 22:11

@zafferana

Dublin Australia

I had high hopes for both as everyone RAVES about them, but Dublin was grotty and dirty and Australia I felt like I'd flown to the far side of the world for a place that mainly looked like a 1980s shopping centre. The wildlife is amazing and the beaches are pretty stunning, but apart from that I was really disappointed.

So agree with your view on Australia, 1980’s shopping centre sums it up.
Cheshiresun · 27/01/2022 22:12

Should have added Marmaris/Turkey. Letchy men cat calling and touching you, allegedly 5 hotels really 2, bitten to death by mozzies. The whole place ran by male workers; women hidden away.

FindingMeno · 27/01/2022 22:12

Paris, London, Amsterdam are all overrated.
Miami is boring.

AliceMcK · 27/01/2022 22:12

New York, completely underwhelming

Puffalicious · 27/01/2022 22:14

Belfast is a FABULOUS city: the people, the music, the pubs, the history. Amazing for a weekend trip.
