For me, it was Paris. Not an AIBU, I know

Oh no not New York! We’ve had two trips cancelled and I’m absolutely desperate to go but we live in London so perhaps I should lower my expectations slightly.

RussianSpy101 · 27/01/2022 21:37

London
Dubai
Morocco
Los Angeles

BakedTattie · 27/01/2022 21:39

NYC
Paris
Sydney

Gameofmoans22 · 27/01/2022 21:43

Another vote for Paris. It just felt felt grubby and unsafe. Absolutely not what I was expecting!

Hairbrush123 · 27/01/2022 21:44

Oh Dubai as well. I will never step foot there again - even for a connection!

Naples. Definitely Naples.

MegBusset · 27/01/2022 21:47

Edinburgh. SO crowded and tacky, coachloads of tourists at every turn (pre Covid).

Paris is filthy but I love it anyway.

3scape · 27/01/2022 21:47

Cornwall. It's just an endless parade of cath Kidston bags, shovy tourists and average UK coastal views (when the gog clears for one month of the year). I do not "get" it.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 27/01/2022 21:48

Probably Paris for me too. I’ve been a few times and just never really loved it.

Venice probably a bit too - but probably nothing could be as great as it’s hype

I loved NYC and also Mauritius - surprised to see them on here! I also live in London, so any similarity didn’t put me off.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 27/01/2022 21:48

Similarity with NYC not Mauritius obviously! Grin

itwasntaparty · 27/01/2022 21:49

Sam Francisco. After I'd watch the second person shit on the pavement I was over it.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 27/01/2022 21:49

Naples. Definitely Naples.

No way. Just no way!

I was going to start a list of places that massively exceeded expectations just to say Naples! Shock

Hellocatshome · 27/01/2022 21:49

Edinburgh I must be missing something but I think it is pretty boring.

MintyGreenDream · 27/01/2022 21:50

Dublin

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 27/01/2022 21:50

Love Edinburgh too

BullfinchJanuary · 27/01/2022 21:50

Val d'Isere.

Infinitemoon · 27/01/2022 21:51

Edinburgh is lovely if you don't mind stepping over piles of sick in doorways. Sad

JohnBetjeman · 27/01/2022 21:51

Slough

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 27/01/2022 21:52

My vote for living Edinburgh might be because I’ve always had good company whilst there though - visiting friends

StillMedusa · 27/01/2022 21:52

New York. London is nicer!
San Francisco.. terrifying poverty, absolutely off their face homeless people eveywhere even in the most popular tourist spots.. incredibly sad to see and dangerous ( I toured the USA with my adult DD and it was the only place we felt truly unsafe)

Infinitemoon · 27/01/2022 21:52

Sam Francisco. After I'd watch the second person shit on the pavement I was over it.

Birmingham has similar so...

New York
Paris
Mexico

all for the same reasons, dirty and I didn't feel safe at times

Babymamaroon · 27/01/2022 21:53

Another vote for Dublin. Just awful. It's unclean, pick-pockets everywhere, no nice buzz at all, grey and miserable.

OfstedOffred · 27/01/2022 21:53

South Africa. We found the people we met there unpleasant.

It's a pity as I work a lot with people in SA now & they are all lovely, so I guess we just got unlucky.
