To ask what cutlery you eat cake with?

Dh thinks it doesn't matter what cutlery you use. It does, it's a fork! A spoon is for soup and ice cream.

I cannot enjoy my cake using a spoon, it's not right.
Chocolate fudge cake incase anyone's interested Grin

A cake fork

iliketartan · 22/01/2023 17:33

Fingers unless it's something really sticky and gooey. Then would use a spoon.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 22/01/2023 17:34

With my hands like some kind of wild cake beast. I really want cake now

AndMeMyGrooveAndMyFriends · 22/01/2023 17:56

Fork

MrsClatterbuck · 22/01/2023 18:27

A fork. Here they are called pastry forks. I was once given silver ones as a present but they have never been out-of-the-way Bix. I use the stainless steel ones when necessary. I also have fruit spoons which you don't see anymore. I use them for desserts like trifle. I prefer them to dessert spoons.

SilverHydrangea · 22/01/2023 18:34

Depends on the cake - fingers, fork or spoon as appropriate.

the80sweregreat · 22/01/2023 19:15

A spork !
Or just hands

MademoiselleTrunchbull · 22/01/2023 19:56

I use a fork in company but a spoon by preference. Chasing crumbs around the plate with a fork is a right PITA.

ortonym · 22/01/2023 20:22

To all the delicates out there with your "fork", "spoon", "fingers"; it's none of them. It's the palm of your hand and you just splunch it into yer gob.

lalaloopyhead · 22/01/2023 20:24

A spork of course is the optimum item of cutlery, but failing this definitely a fork.

Plannersareus · 22/01/2023 20:42

Cake is eaten with a cake fork. Soup is eaten with a soup spoon, why have specific cutlery if it is not used?

Indeed. A cake fork for eating cake.
A soup spoon for eating soup.
And a table spoon.

BeatrixPottery · 22/01/2023 20:46

A cake fork!

Pedallleur · 22/01/2023 20:48

Fork, spoon, fingers, anything to hand really. I'll even use someone else's fingers in certain situations

ClockingTime · 22/01/2023 20:52

A spork.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 22/01/2023 20:55

Cake fork.

kidsandpuppies · 22/01/2023 20:59

It's a fork, unless it's something like this, which I made last night and was delicious.

Cake is totally disgusting, so I do not eat it.
As I live in Europe you mostly get a cake fork to eat your (dreadful) cake.

This thread is a year old.

I started reading this thread and looked line for cake forks, none of which look like cake forks, just normal forks. It was then that I noticed my own comment about left handed cake forks, I recall going on line at the time to look for them!

KangarooKenny · 22/01/2023 21:21

A cake fork.

Allywill · 22/01/2023 21:27

i like a teaspoon. a fork is just too…pronged. plus i like my cake with cream so the spoon works best. i like how it is smooth in my mouth and not stabby like a fork. i am currently eating cake with a wooden fork because that’s what my daughter brought me. it feels horrible in my mouth but i can’t be arsed to get up to change it. life is hard.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 22/01/2023 21:29

A spoon for cake I could live with. But I caught my DH eating ice-cream with a knife and fork recently. The freak!

hadntbeen · 22/01/2023 21:33

Fork

RB68 · 22/01/2023 21:43

If its served as a slice with tea, a cake fork, if its swiped off the cooling rack straight in your gob and look out for crumbs they are a dead giveaway, if its with cream then a spoon, ice cream spoon, cupcake cut with a knife crossways and sandwich the topping before straight in aforementioned Gob again. Date night use your imagination...
