To ask what cutlery you eat cake with?

Dh thinks it doesn't matter what cutlery you use. It does, it's a fork! A spoon is for soup and ice cream.

I cannot enjoy my cake using a spoon, it's not right.
Chocolate fudge cake incase anyone's interested Grin

A cake fork. 🙂

Savingpeoplehuntingthings · 26/01/2022 22:39

If it's hot chocolate fudge cake with ice cream that is probably melting or with custard then a spoon. Otherwise a cake fork.

RedRobin100 · 26/01/2022 22:40

Happy to use a spoon if I don’t have a fork

Actually also if there’s lots of cream I like to be able to scoop it with a spoon

Not saying a spoon TRUMPS a fork but

🤷🏻‍♀️

dementedpixie · 26/01/2022 22:40

A spork
Not really but they do exist

NellePorter · 26/01/2022 22:41

A cake fork

AdaColeman · 26/01/2022 22:41

A cake fork.

fuckyourpronouns · 26/01/2022 22:41

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads

Fingers!

Or fork. DD’s friend once asked for a cake fork!

Was it my child?! 🤣
OneTC · 26/01/2022 22:42

Little fork is preferred but failing that a teaspoon

Nobody eats cake with a proper fork surely?

giveyou2reasons · 26/01/2022 22:42

In my family, we always used regular forks. After marrying DH, he brought over his set of four small dessert forks, and we used those. We've since purchased a larger set of tiny forks, as well as some tiny spoons that we use for things like ice cream.

sjxoxo · 26/01/2022 22:42

Absolutely a cake fork or fingers, depending on the type of cake, the company present & the setting! Xo

JurgensCakeBabyJesus · 26/01/2022 22:42

A cake fork, but chocolate fudge cake is interesting, I'd expect it to be warm and with ice cream/cream so can see the benefit of a spoon

fuckyourpronouns · 26/01/2022 22:43

A cake fork! Eating cake with a spoon is just not the same! Unless you have cream in which case it's marginally more acceptable....

My kids ask for a cake fork if we go out and they're not offered one with pudding! 🙈🤣

PurplePansy05 · 26/01/2022 22:48

Well, a standard fork isn't for cakes. In practice, I think a cake fork is the most suitable, mainly because of the appropriate size.

user1493494961 · 26/01/2022 22:49

Fork or spoon.

AmyandPhilipfan · 26/01/2022 22:49

I always use a spoon (or just fingers) and have never felt so different to other people as I do right now! I apologise for being so unreasonable - but will continue to use my spoon!

ConsuelaHammock · 26/01/2022 22:49

A cake fork. Newbridge silverware have lovely little sets of 6. Also portmerion.

MountSand · 26/01/2022 22:50

Depends on the cake, surely?

Cheesecake: table spoon
Sponge type of cake: fork if in company and hands if alone
Crumble: table spoon

Berta81 · 26/01/2022 22:50

Trough

roxisolerenshaw · 26/01/2022 22:51

A cake fork but if I can't find one I'll use a full sized fork.

LagerthaofKattegat · 26/01/2022 22:52

Fingers. I can’t bear the feel of a metal fork and spongy cake. Makes me shudder.

LoveFall · 26/01/2022 22:54

A cake fork, which is smaller than a regular dinner fork.

Although for some reason I like using a cake fork for other things when I'm on my own. I just used one to eat my lunch salad. Something about the shape and size appeals to me.

melj1213 · 26/01/2022 23:00

Depends on the type of cake and whether it's served alone or with a side of something.

Default is a cake fork if its a sponge type cake by itself but if it is a crumbly kind of cake or is served with ice cream/cream/custard then I definitely use a spoon.

SweetPotatoDumpling · 26/01/2022 23:02

Does it actually really matter? Really? 🤷‍♀️

narcdad · 26/01/2022 23:03

Cake fork, my friend brought me some a few years ago and I love them so much I have to have cake a lot to appreciate them.

2020nymph · 26/01/2022 23:04

@GeorgiaMcGraw

A little fork. One of the really tiny cake forks. Makes me feel fancy when I'm stuffing my face.

Abso-forking-lutely!
