‘Sorry the colour doesn’t suit my baby’

Sent a friend with a new baby some clothes - one thing was a really pale pink and the other thing was a really pale yellow. It was like a T-shirt and joggers set thing that I got in a small independent shop.

No Thankyou - just a comment that the colours weren’t right. The baby is 3 months old.

Aibu to think I would never have dreamed of making such a comment. I had some really unusual colours but I smiled, said Thankyou & the kids wore them as I was grateful to receive gifts.

I feel really offended- they weren’t cheap either 🤷🏻‍♀️

Who would do this?? Your friend obviously has no grace or charm. A lesson learned for you to avoid her in future.

EerieSilence · 25/01/2022 10:36

@Hohofortherobbers - there's nothing polite about that.
Seriously - the last thing I though of when my DD was 3 months were whether the colours suited her or not. She's a baby, will grow out of it in two months. A simple thank you would have been the most polite form.

EerieSilence · 25/01/2022 10:39

@Laughingstock91 - return those items and don't sent anything anymore. She's an ungrateful CF.
@betwixtlives yes! ‘We got your parcel today. Sorry the colour doesn’t suit little xxxx. Could we change them please’
Wow. I would tell them to fuck off.

Very rude and very ungrateful and a bit "precious"!

Nettie1964 · 03/02/2022 12:10

31 years ago I was given a dress made entirely from itchy lace with short sleeves for my newborn born in a snowy January smiled said thank you admired it. Donated to our next jumble sale. Yr friend needs etiquette lessons.

yikesanotherbooboo · 03/02/2022 12:51

That is an extraordinary response to a friend being kind and spending their money on a gift. Particularly in view of the fact that babies really want comfort and what colour an outfit is is of no consequence to them.
Blame sleeplessness.
We all get baby clothes that aren't to our taste but they are bought with love and a good lesson in not being vain.

SartresSoul · 03/02/2022 12:53

It’s rude to comment on it, I wouldn’t dream of it. I wouldn’t put it on my baby if I hated it though, it would most likely end up at the charity shop or something.

Does she have post natal depression?

The good news is, you've escaped decades of wasting your money on gifts for that ungrateful CF and her family .

@sjxoxo

It is rude… BUT.., I’ve just had a baby 10 days ago and I’m sick of people gifting clothes. He’s recieved so many he’s not ever going to wear them all & some of them are totally impractical for a tiny baby. No baby needs polo shirts 😂 I’d rather people didn’t bother is the honest truth.. He’s got so many clothes it’s insane. I’ve already had to give some away. Everyone buys clothes - if you haven’t bought and given them by the due date don’t bother as you are too late to the clothes party! Honestly the best gifts are gift cards, frozen meals, lanolin nipple cream, nice blankets. The worst are clothes & stuffed toys. Xo
This sums up why I don't do baby gifts. I used to buy a toy, then I heard someone at work complain how many toys she got.

Just easier to buy nothing.

Same here. Fuck 'em

ZOMBIE

CovertImage · 12/11/2022 22:38

Not another. Jesus, I've just read 20 pages and not noticed

JoelyJoe · 12/11/2022 23:28

That's really f**king rude. You have gone to the trouble of getting their baby a present and they don't even say thanks.
Ignore, and don't buy them anything else.
