Why do men do this

Tevion28 · 17/01/2022 15:11

Following on from the Ashling Murthy murder and the likes of the Sarah Everard I've been thinking alot as to why men do this and I can only think that they must have a deep hatred for women and feel threatened by us for some reason. What do you all think I'm not convinced that these men all have mental health problems myself.

@DrSbaitso well when you’re in your 40s, unemployed and living with your parents, you have a lot of time to waste on the internet 🤣

Italiangreyhound · 19/01/2022 08:46

I've thought a lot about this. I think there is a sexual element for men in violence that is incredibly rare for women. I also personally think that as women are often mother's and some have the capacity to make men father's there is a lot of anger built up in men towards women (some men, not all men) in general. I don't know if it is about their own mother or not being a dad, or being a dad and not wanting to be! I just think that woman equals sex or mother to some men and something in that makes them angry.

It's not about superior strength - although that allows men to perpetrate crimes. I am stronger than some old people or kids but don't feel the need to express that strength negatively.

Part of it is training, humans have bred our men folk to not care so much, not engage so much, and that may be for some reasons.

But generally I think there is something about men that does make us as women appear lesser to them in their minds, while perhaps secretly knowing we are not! Knowing many women are far more capable than many men. And perhaps feeling aware we may not choose or want them. That we may reject them. Women are coached to accept rejection. Men are not.

I guess I just thought most of them would have found something else by now. They started back in the "there are no girls on the Internet" period, when they were seriously threatened by the idea that women might be using discussion sites and saying things and being heard. What with the rise of social media and so on, plus nearly 20 years, I really thought they'd have got over women saying things by now. Truly I did. But they haven't actually changed one iota. It's like they're permanently frozen in really shit amber. The world advances 20 years and they are, as you say, still living in Mum's cellar only now they're in their 40s.

Women’s urge is to protect and nurture
Men’s urge is to dominate, kill and have sex

Why do people spout this rubbish? I'm a woman. I have strong sexual 'urges', So am I really a man trapped in a woman's body?

And men's 'urge' is not to dominate. Its to co-operate and be accepted by your social group. The same as it is for women. Look around you. All around you, from the chair you are sitting on, the building you are in, the roads you travel on, the food you eat - you see the evidence of how human men and women have co-operated to bring all those things to you, and build the world you live in.

Humans a highly co-operative and highly social species. Stop using sexist stereotyping rubbish dressed up as pseudo-science to excuse men who rape and kill.

Bitbloweyoutthere · 19/01/2022 09:34

silverswirl I had kids because I wanted to see what it was like. If dh could have had them, that would have been fine by me. I am biologically able to have children and to physically nurture them, but I have no desire to care for others. I suspect many women don't, but have been pushed into this roles because of their biology. No one ever told dh that it was a shame he had to work while the kids were little, but it was assumed that I would be sad. No. I was not.

You have a baby. You're at home. Oh, you might as well call in on elderly relatives etc. And before long, that is what you do. How many women have hated doing that, but couldn't escape?

And don't forget the opprobrium heaped on women who don't/ didn't conform to the role society gives them.

We build all our theories of men and women's innate behaviour on the animal Kingdom and a history largely written by men.

AllKindsOfWrong · 19/01/2022 09:40

@PleasantBirthday I never claimed to have the answer.
Men kill women, women kill men. Whoever has the upper hand or the most statistics.
People will always kill each other.

@Bitbloweyoutthere

Having a weird day so forgive me if I’m wrong but have you posted that almost word for word before?!

AllKindsOfWrong · 19/01/2022 09:42

@PleasantBirthday Which lot would that be then?

I know you never claimed to have the answer. You can't have the answer, because it doesn't exist. You either made it up or quoted it from some other loonbag. What I am asking you is why you are derailing the conversation here with patently made up nonsense that you're not even prepared to pretend you can defend? What is your end goal?

Bitbloweyoutthere · 19/01/2022 09:45

Don't think so. Probably similar on any threads about women being 'nurturers' because it winds me up.

AsYouWishButtercup · 19/01/2022 09:49

@AllKindsOfWrong

Nothing misogynistic about it. Men kill women, women kill men. Pleasant Birthday asked where this invented place is where men kill women, my reply was to that. I never mentioned percentages or statistics. Carry on.
I have an exam in a few weeks. I’ll just show up and write my name because percentages don’t matter, the important thing is I took the exam and that will count for the most part.

See how it doesn’t ^quite% work when you disregard percentages and rapes.
Far FAR more men kill women than women kill men. What is it you aren’t understanding?

AsYouWishButtercup · 19/01/2022 09:52

But when one is killing the other at a significantly higher rate. That’s a societal problem. We don’t just shrug our shoulders and say “well sometimes men die so it cancels the problem out”. Unless you are exceptionally stupid to course

phishy · 19/01/2022 10:09

If @AllKindsOfWrong is a woman, I'm guessing she only has boys and can't bear the thought of anyone intimating that boys can grow up into violent men.

@Alexusuk55 I’m going to bite and reply to your racist post - not EVERY rapist in the UK is Eastern European. But they DO have one common denominator - what do you think it is?

I love how racists are happy to taint everyone with the same brush when it comes their agenda but they insist sexual violence isn’t a man’s problem, despite nearly all perpetrators being men. I despise racists, but stupid and inconsistent racists are especially infuriating

AsYouWishButtercup · 19/01/2022 10:26

Also in the UK at the moment we are in no position to call any other country a dump

CaveMum · 19/01/2022 10:33

@Alexusuk55 your evidence please? I’ve just glanced at the list of 140 women killed by men in the U.K. during 2021 and the overwhelming majority of these murders were committed by British men.

When they say "you wouldn't say this about muslims or black people, would you?" and you say, well, it's just the men in those groups, like it's just the men in every other racial and cultural group and not the women in any of those groups who present a problem, they really don't like it.

phishy · 19/01/2022 10:36

@MHHQ thanks for the speedy deletion 😊

AsYouWishButtercup · 19/01/2022 10:37

Yep - almost all terrorists are men yet we only ever hear whining about Muslim extremists. Why is it never ‘male extremists’? I mean factually speaking Male Extremists is far more accurate a description than Muslim Extremists.

PleasantBirthday · 19/01/2022 10:42

Yep. Regardless of cause or the victim, the country, the region or the religion, by and large, it's men doing it.

phishy · 19/01/2022 10:43

Exactly @AsYouWishButtercup and @PleasantBirthday

That's part of the truth but it's not the whole truth. Men are (on average) bigger than women, stronger than women, more aggressive. That's not by chance or just down to social norms. Cooperation is human, but so is conflict and the need to protect you and yours from others.
