I am 38 and I want one of those shopping trolleys that are basically a bag on a frame on wheels. I don't drive (don't start, tried both manual and automatic and can't get to grips with it also can't afford it) and I also don't like taking public transport so I tend to walk everywhere. But I also have hypermobility and during pandemic heights buggered myelbow carrying heavy shopping.
All in having a trolley would be very useful but I can't get passed being embarrassed about using one. Does anyone here have one that isnt of pension age?

Yabu you are still young and should put up with carrying everything it's extra exercise.

Yanbu go and get one they are fantastic. Age be damned.

Take a wheels suitcase?

JulesJules · 15/01/2022 08:51

YABU. I think they are great, and it's only here (UK) where they are just associated with little old ladies. I want one but can't decide what colour.

TonysMrs · 15/01/2022 09:10

I know how you feel. I had to use one for a while and then I had to use one with a seat and now I have to use a mobility scooter. At first I felt a bit embarrassed but now I just think "fuck it!! If I didn't have my mobility scooter I wouldn't get out. Once I'd used my trolley a couple of times I wasn't bothered about that either. Trust me, you won't regret it. Happy shopping x

my daughter is 25 and has a red one . She lives in London and always uses hers to buy heavy bottles etc she's very trendy !!

Linning · 15/01/2022 09:16

I am in my 20’s and recently bought one! Only just mad at myself I didn’t do it earlier!

But then again I don’t really feel embarrassed nor care much what people might think of me. I find it more embarrassing to stop yourself from doing things that would make your life easier just because it “doesn’t look good.”

I also personally wouldn’t bat an eyelid if I saw anyone of any age having one

Rudeppl · 15/01/2022 09:16

I have actually sometimes bought a suitcase with me if I have to do a big shop

TroysMammy · 15/01/2022 09:18

I've just bought my second one and only because my original one is boring beige with red, white and brown spots and my new one is blue with cats on it.

007Stocko · 15/01/2022 09:37

It is a very sensible thing to use so please don't feel as if you look silly. As said you can buy a variety of different styles and colours, just google funky shopping trolley and see what comes up.

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 15/01/2022 09:40

Can anyone recommend a shopping trolley for tall people? I'm 5'11 and have a feeling most of these lovely trollies will be too short for me.

FluffyRabbitGal · 15/01/2022 09:40

Like you, I’m 38 & don’t drive so I bought myself a shipping trolley. My walk to the shop is about a mile and a half & can be a right pain in the arse when laden with heavy bags.
I love my trolley, she’s made such a difference to my back & I wouldn’t be without her- I call her Deirdre & at Christmas I’ve been known to decorate her with tinsel!

Didioverstep · 15/01/2022 09:48

I think it's a fab idea. I might get one

Bertiebiscuit · 15/01/2022 09:48

I Am a Pensioner and I refuse to use one, so please don't stereotype us all

Stuffin · 15/01/2022 09:52

I don't understand the need to supposedly look 'cool' over being practical. And no one looks great carrying bags that are too heavy for them.

I often think this is a confidence thing. I am happy using my trolley and really don't care what others might be thinking.

I'm 5' 11" and have an IKEA one. It's fine (I'm very long of limb!).
SheldontheWonderSchlong · 15/01/2022 10:05

@NoWordForFluffy Thanks!

NoWordForFluffy · 15/01/2022 10:17

Here it is (I'm in Sainsbury's!). I reckon it's about 3.5ft tall, as I'm 4ft to hip and it's around 5-6 inches below.

NoWordForFluffy · 15/01/2022 10:17

Waist, not hip!

Fluffmum · 15/01/2022 10:38

Everyone in Spain uses them. I loved mine

IcedCoffeeMilkshake · 15/01/2022 10:47

I really really want one now. I want one of those beautiful rad ones linked upthread. But they are pricey and I am not sure we have room as how our little house is already very cluttered.

VoluptuaSneezelips · 15/01/2022 13:48

Oh got my first shopping trolly in my twenties and in my forties now, wouldn't be without it. Don't care what people think as it makes my life so much easier. There are so many designs to choose from nowadays too. This is my latest one with cute cats all over it.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 15/01/2022 14:13

Today I had major envy of the little old lady with a bright-scarlet version of my dull grey trolley!

RobertaFirmino · 15/01/2022 15:37

@Pleaseuniverseplease

I'd not use one. I'm early 40s and I feel I would draw attention to myself with one. There's a woman who is my age who walks up my road with one. I always notice her and think she looks ridiculous. I'm sorry, just being honest.
If you live on a street that is named after somewhere in Scotland then you could very well be talking about me. In which case, my advice is to fuck off.
TroysMammy · 15/01/2022 17:51

@VoluptuaSneezelips that's the one I've just acquired, I've yet to use it yet.

ShoshanaBlue101 · 15/01/2022 17:58

I discovered the joys of shopping trolleys during pregnancy and have never looked back!

Babymamaroon · 15/01/2022 18:04

I used mine for all my local Christmas shopping and frankly I didn't care whether I looked like an old Granny. It saved my arms and was fabulous!!
