I am 38 and I want one of those shopping trolleys that are basically a bag on a frame on wheels. I don't drive (don't start, tried both manual and automatic and can't get to grips with it also can't afford it) and I also don't like taking public transport so I tend to walk everywhere. But I also have hypermobility and during pandemic heights buggered myelbow carrying heavy shopping.
All in having a trolley would be very useful but I can't get passed being embarrassed about using one. Does anyone here have one that isnt of pension age?

Yabu you are still young and should put up with carrying everything it's extra exercise.

Yanbu go and get one they are fantastic. Age be damned.

My bestest friend in the world is a year younger than me (I'm 32) and she has a few different versions. If it makes your shopping easier go for it. I have 1 but don't use it as I use the pushchair but once baby starts walking and is out of the pushchair maybe I'll start using the trolley more.

moonisblue · 14/01/2022 18:09

I bought one for £15 from Amazon, figuring it wasn't a fortune to waste if it stays in the cupboard. Turns out I use it quite often and no-one bats an eyelid.
If it'll be useful to you, then of course buy one. Plenty lovely modern designs to choose from.

Sizzer40 · 14/01/2022 18:10

I have one!
I got it from Primark a couple of months ago.
Zara sell them too so I figure they must be en vogue.
I have hyper mobility also and carrying a heavy shopping bag often gives me a week of neck and shoulder pain.
I’m 40, stylish and feel like I carry it off well.. at least No one has ever looked at me funny for using it! Go for it!!

MMUmum · 14/01/2022 18:15

There are some lovely ones called Sholleys

LemonDrizzles · 14/01/2022 18:16

Get one. I used to use a small suitcase

alienalan · 14/01/2022 18:16

Who cares? Get one if you need it.

Whats the worst that can happen? The school bully may see you and then you'll not be invited to any birthday parties 🙄

DedalusBloom · 14/01/2022 18:24

I have showed my husband a couple of the ones on this thread ( with a view to buying one myself) and he made an "oo!" noise which coming from him is high praise as he's normally far too cool for school about this sort of thing. Grin

I love my shopping trolley....bought from IKEA many moons ago, in black with big white polka dots..... great for lugging marking homeGinGinGin. Definitely en trend (cos I think so BrewWinkWink). Own it!!!!!

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 14/01/2022 18:26

I have 2 and have had for ages. I love them an see lots of younger people with them. Means I don't have to drive to the shops so much, and can bring my shopping home so much more easily. I am no where near retirement age. A lot of my London friends have them and use them all the time.

@Vicliz24

I have a beautiful vintage wicker one . I got it when I had a shoulder surgery and it truly saved my life . I wouldn't be without it now . I made gingham lining for it and named her Fifi
I want a wicker one now…

My friend had one in her early 20s! I think these days you can get funky patterns.

Worriedgranmasmithy · 14/01/2022 18:46

We had one in Spain and I loved it, if I didn’t have a car I’d definitely have one here.

Jeannie88 · 14/01/2022 18:47

Oh no one notices anyone else these days and if you asked a shopper 'did u see someone using a shopping wheelie' I think the answer would be erm no! Also sth I'm going to do, makes life easier! X

These trolleys are a god send. I'm 36 and always use it, especially when grocery shopping. They're not for app's. The frame without the bag is perfect to use for bigger items e.g. microwaves etc. My husband age 32 uses it when going to B&Q.

Lovely13 · 14/01/2022 18:57

I’m up for a sholley! Have tried all sorts to deal with shopping now that I’m car-less. Backpack too heavy for shoulders. Carrying shopping bags kills my hands. This is final option. I’m going for it! But where do you put it if doing a supermarket trolley shop?!

Mandyjack · 14/01/2022 18:58

Have you considered getting an electric bike/trike or mobility scooter?

My daughter had one when she was at uni as she lived on a hill and it was easier to drag the trolley up than carry bags.
fetchacloth · 14/01/2022 19:09

Definitely get one OP, it's not embarrassing at all.
Alternatively you could get a suitcase or rucksack on wheels that doesn't really look like a trolley.

bippityboppity87 · 14/01/2022 19:10

I'm definitely considering buying one. I don't drive, but a few supermarkets are within walking distance or a short bus journey. A back pack has never really been big enough to do a big shop on my own really. Would definitely be easier and I don't associate it as "granny-ish" I've been eyeing these ones up

clareken260 · 14/01/2022 19:12

Sorry if this has already been mentioned. Get one with sets of three wheels, they are so much easier to get up kerbs and steps, as the wheels rotate and "climb"

TickyTacky · 14/01/2022 19:14

I really want one to put the kids stuff in when we go out on day trips. If dh is with us we each wear a backpack, but if it's just me I struggle with the weight (bad back, early 30s) but as we mostly visit various national trust places I doubt it'll be that practical on muddy tracks 😥

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 14/01/2022 19:15

27 year old dd has one. They rock the look

Georgyporky · 14/01/2022 19:20

An old friend of mine uses a 4-wheel suitcase; it makes her feel better

Morgysmum · 14/01/2022 19:21

Don't be, best thing I did was buy one. Mine isn't one with 4 wheels and square.
But it has 2 wheels, it's fantastic, I brought as we live up hill from the supermarket and when my sons pram gave out, (he didn't really need, to be in it) I was struggling with the weekly shop, we didn't have a car.
I brought it, when I was 30. But its fab, for heavy stuff and it saves, shopping bags cutting into my hands. I don't care if it makes me look old, it's practicle and I am saving the planet, it also saved money, when paying for a bag became a thing. Mine, is white with blue spots and it's waterproof.

tolerable · 14/01/2022 19:21

ive got-and use one.
same-dont drive/rather walk.mines courful spotty waterproof lidls middles number.
it holds a black binbag full of wet laundry(cos wash mach broke i know this)
its excellent for beachtrips with kids.
nobody-not one single person has ever said."haha-lookitchu"
