To be saddened, and yet also angry, that the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary Reunion show totally blanked JK Rowling?

I mean, she did create the bloody thing!

Just watched it. 100 minutes of the young cast who were the main characters (Harry, Ron, Hermione, Malfoy, Neville Longbottom, The Weasley brothers, etc,) gushing over one another. Laughing and hugging and kissing, and reminiscing and brushing tears from their cheeks, as they whispered 'we're family... always have been, always will be.......'

Not ONE mention of the woman who created it all, and gave them the lives they have now. In fact many people were interviewed, including Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter, Gary Oldman, Robbie Coltrane, Bonnie wright, Alfred Enoch, Toby Jones, Mark Williams, Jason Isaacs, etc. Not ONE of them mentioned JK Rowling.

All we got featuring JK, was two 10 to 15 second clips of footage from an interview she did 3 years ago. The narrator mentioned her ONCE! That's it! None of the 'stars' mentioned her, or thanked her for ANYthing. As I said, Harry Potter exists because of HER. Yet she was not deemed worthy of a mention or a thank you.

AIBU to think it's sad and also bloody infuriating, that she has been blanked in this manner? IMO, it's clearly because of the accusations of her being 'transphobic,' (which I don't think she is frankly,) and I am dismayed and somewhat disgusted, that these young people whose careers exist because of JK Rowling, are now treating her like a pariah.

I am a huge fan of Harry Potter, both the books and the films, and this has sullied it all for me now.

Transphobia is bollocks. There is nothing wrong in stating the truth. I couldn't care less whether men want to wear dresses and makeup, but they're still men, and when women cut off their breasts and grow beards, they're still women. There's nothing hateful or unkind about saying that. It's just the simple truth.

There's this. Saying that every who menstruates is a women? No they're not.
Trans men are men, and they might menstruate too.

That is not transphobic. That is simply stating biological fact.

Seriously, the sooner people get their heads around the fact that biology matters, the sooner some meaningful conversations can take place with regards to how to navigate this minefield.

Those conversations can start by acknowledging the fact that biology bloody matters.

I think they might as well not have had a reunion, if they're so dreadfully ashamed of the story's and characters' creator. It's ridiculous to try to somehow write her out of history or barely mention her, as though she's tangential to the Harry Potter movies' existence.

They should have included and properly acknowledged her or just not done the stupid thing. I have no interest in watching the reunion, largely for this reason, but also because I hate reunion/anniversary shows, as a rule.

The cast do not owe her anything so I find all of the snide insults about certain cast members a bit pathetic really, most were acting before Harry Potter anyway.

It seems to me you are victim-blaming/attacking those who stand up for the wronged person.

And considering the vile hateful things written about her by journalists, dare you blame people for believing the poll was real? Seriously? dare you blame us?? After all, why would we be surprised?

As I said, you're attacking the wrong people and I think it's you that should think before you type.

Have you seen what her attackers have said about JKR? Even going as far as death threats?

Yet again, considering journalists of that very paper (Guardian) have either attacked JKR or left her out of things (such as mentioning her birthday when they mentioned other famous people having a birthday on the same day), dare you blame us for assuming it was true? Seriously???

Yet you say nothing about the RAPE AND DEATH THREATS that are far worse than anything any of the defenders have ever said. To even suggest people defending a wrongly attacked woman are 'as bad as' those who write rape and death threats is absolutely disgusting! You should really re-think that one. Nothing is 'as bad as' let alone worse, than rape and death threats. Someone calling the main trio 'ungrateful brats' for example (one of the comments I read) is *nowhere even remotely near as bad as DEATH THREATS AND RAPE THREATS. And to suggest it is, is disingenuous and absolutely disgusting and an insult to women who receive death and rape threats.

For the third time, it's already been explained to you that no one can possibly blame us for believing the poll existed, given the HISTORY of the guardian. Do I have to explain this a fourth time? Like I said, dare you blame us for that??? Do you honestly think it was such a stretch, given the Guardian's history? After all, we wouldn't have been surprised, given their M.O and history.

Perhaps if you weren't so insistent in throwing shade at the defenders, and letting the side that writes death and rape threats go without comment.....
