Cars..must have features..whats yours?

My must have feature in a car is having manual windows....having been trapped in an all electric car this is vital. My dh thinks I am mad. Aibu?

Whats your must have feature? We are buying a " new" car!

Do they still make new cars with manual windows?

Only Dacia still have manual windows in the rear don't they?

Air con. Too many summers sweating to death.
Cruise control. I did a lot of motorway driving for 15+ years. Saves my ankle and knee.
Decent size boot. Two large dogs requires it.

I hate not having a proper handbrake but I guess they're going to get rarer.

Seats I can sit in for a long drive and don't have to crowbar myself out of. Hence why I like Citroëns.

I’d assume central locking and electric windows are standard

A full service history, a working engine with a decent size (nothing below a 1.4l), a low biting point (some people prefer high but I like low), a relatively recently changed cam belt, and tyres in good condition.

Most everything else is window dressing.

Sat nav, heated seats, heated steering wheel, reversing camera

Bought a car recently and they were the only features I was looking for. Cars don't interest me at all, but comfort features do.

The digital iPad like screen in the middle. Mod cons 😉

After driving a very small 3dr for the last few months;

5 doors
Large boot
Leg room for all passengers
Arm rest
Also a big fan of ambient lighting

Sliding rear doors! Absolutely love them. Means I don't have to worry about the dc opening their doors wide and hitting neighbouring cars in a car park, and also great when parked in tight spaces.

Windscreen wipers! None of this pyrolytic nonsense thank you!

No engine or gearbox to maintain / break / fuel. My next car will be an EV.

I think I would probably just buy a window hammer instead of wanting wind down windows. If the side of your car got hit you might not be able to wind them down anyway. You can get one that has a seatbelt blade in as well I think.

I love my reversing camera and the Bluetooth connection to my phone.

Amazing to not have to de-ice the car in the mornings and be able to get into a nice warm car.
I am sure on those hot days or times when you can’t park in the shade, it’ll be lovely to get into a cool car and drive without getting a sweaty back!

Bluetooth - to listen to audiobooks/playlists without plugging phone into the car (which you need to with apple airplay)

Heated windscreen. Mainly so I don’t have to scrape in the mornings but invaluable for clearing condensation.

New features generally put me off tbh. I like a car with a proper handbrake I can pull up. Locks I can pull up to get out if I need to.
I like having central locking with a button on the key but hate the keyless entry feature.

Only real must have for me (which isn't a feature anymore as all cars have it) is power steering. Any first few cars didn't have it (I'm old) but I couldn't go back to that now!

Easy access to the front and rear bulbs if they need changing. I resent having to pay someone else to fit new ones when, with the right access, I can do it myself. I had a Renault where the whole of the front bumper had to come off just to fit an indicator bulb!

I came onto say heated seats thinking everyone would think it strange. DH hates them and never puts them on, but I have back problems and they are amazing. I wish my sofa had them!
