My must have feature in a car is having manual windows....having been trapped in an all electric car this is vital. My dh thinks I am mad. Aibu?

Auto, air con and shit hot parking assist 😂

TreeLawney · 08/01/2022 11:14

Reversing camera.
Air con.
Reliable.

That’s about it really. As long as it gets me from a to b I’m happy.

LittleBearPad · 08/01/2022 11:14

@BeBraveAndBeKind

Easy access to the front and rear bulbs if they need changing. I resent having to pay someone else to fit new ones when, with the right access, I can do it myself. I had a Renault where the whole of the front bumper had to come off just to fit an indicator bulb!
That’s what Halfords is for
HumunaHey · 08/01/2022 11:15

5 doors
HPI clear
Less than 10 years old

NewMamma21 · 08/01/2022 11:15

As we share a car (& I’m quite a bit shorter than hubby) for us it is absolutely memory seats. SO much easier to get in & press a button than faff about changing the seat.

Howshouldibehave · 08/01/2022 11:17

Things I’ve got now that I love are-heated seat, glass roof, air conditioning and 360 degree birds eye view camera for parking. DH likes the cruise control but I don’t really use that.

I really want a heated windscreen though. Which cars have this now-I thought it just used to be a Ford thing?

Aquamarine1029 · 08/01/2022 11:17

Manual windows? How absurd, it's not 1979. Good luck finding that on a new car.

efeslight · 08/01/2022 11:17

Heated steering wheel
Camera for reversing

Chely · 08/01/2022 11:20

Wouldn't have a car without Bluetooth connectivity or parking sensors now. I love the heated windscreens too.

We have a hire car atm as ours is in for repairs, it has a button to start it and I keep reaching for the key to turn it off 🤣 (every bloody time). I really like that the wing mirrors fold in when I lock it, I have to walk around ours to fold them in (but that is good because I can do a quick visual check as I do).

KirkstallAbbess · 08/01/2022 11:21

Apple Car Play

ItsAllAboutTheLighting · 08/01/2022 11:21

Hang on, electric cars dont have electric windows?

Ohisitreally · 08/01/2022 11:22

Reverse sensors!!

Chanel05 · 08/01/2022 11:23

Air con
Heated seats
Cruise control
Automatic
Heated windscreen
Parking camera - ideally front, back and sides
Large boot
Under 10,000 miles

Boogaloony · 08/01/2022 11:24

Manual windows? That's bonkers.... just get a safety hammer?! I've got one in the front and the back of my car, and night then for all my family too after a car went into a local canal.

I currently drive a new Tiguan Rline and it's lovely. When I'm looking for a new one it's got to have

Semi/auto gear box
Higher seating aspect
Heated seats
Electric boot
Air con
Fully heated windows and mirrors
Wireless charging
Auto park and360 cameras
Decent sound system

DerAlteMann · 08/01/2022 11:24

4 wheels and an MOT certificate (if req'd).

DrDreReturns · 08/01/2022 11:26

The ability to get me to my destination safely. Everything else is a bonus.

PlanetNormal · 08/01/2022 11:26

300bhp and a folding roof.

#Mid-lifeCrisis. Grin

ZenNudist · 08/01/2022 11:26

I have a window smasher, just one in the drivers door. If you were worried you could get 4 one for each door. You can also get seatbelt cutters

gogohm · 08/01/2022 11:27

Didn't know you could still get manual windows! I wanted a satnav, iPhone connectivity, cruise control and good miles to the gallon, have a Mazda 3 sport nav.

gogohm · 08/01/2022 11:27

Oh and camera was a must but it came as standard

Spanglybangles · 08/01/2022 11:29

I would love in my next car - heated windscreen, heated seats and preheating via app so I don’t even have to leave the house to defrost.

What I love in my current car - glass roof, Apple car play and parking cameras/sensors. I am great at parking with just mirrors, but the cameras are great to show if you are within the white lines, especially in those tricky diagonal staggered spaces. I also have to say, as a fairly short person, I love the height of my jacked up hatchback (Qashqai) so I get a better view of the road.

Asdf12345 · 08/01/2022 11:29

Proper handbrake.

Decent towing capacity.

ZenNudist · 08/01/2022 11:30

Must haves:

Automatic hand break
Air con
Reversing camera
In built sat nav
Seven seats (2 extra in boot)
Automatic boot open and close from my key

As far as I'm concerned Central locking and full electric windows are standard now and I wouldn't consider a car without.

I wouldn't really want to go back to manual
I love my sport mode when I need to zoom but I could live without

Spanglybangles · 08/01/2022 11:30

Ooh and yes, I love my satnav, this is the first car I've had with it and I love it.

Woodlandwater · 08/01/2022 11:33

Park assist, parking cameras, the system that tells you the pressure of the tyres, sat Nav, heated seats, heated windscreen.

A bonus would be lots and lots of mini storage areas in the front and back.
