Dla waiting times

hi! New to this all but I started a new claim for my daughter and it was received and stamped on 30th October, reaching 9 weeks and no response as of yet, any ideas of the waiting time ?

Oh heck JJ. Ours runs out a similar time.... but we didnt manage to get ours off in jamuary. There is no hope. Its going to be months before we hear isnt it!

Glad you heard before yours was due so it can be continuous.

Outlook - they are not working on them from when they were sent in apparently - they are prioritising applications which end the soonest. There’s a four week run on from when your award ends so that gives an extra month’s breathing space.

Heya! I couldn't get through in time. I think it may be because our claim is for a rare genetic disorder so they may be having to speak to specialists? That is the only thing i can think of. I didn't send much evidence either due to waiting for other genetic testing and speech and language too. So i could only give what i had.

Apart from that, i am stumped. Maybe decision maker is a little behind? It is draining though, i just want to know now. Im constantly awaiting a message or checking for a brown envelope. X

Thanks JJ - I didn't know about the 4 week run on! I was worried about losing carers for that month too. Much appreciated. Maybe they will look at it!

@Pmp1315 yes it’s so frustrating as DLA opens many doors for our little ones. Our boy is non verbal and has numerous problems I’m now worried I didn’t fill the form in good enough, I’m really worried I know I can do an MR if refused it’s just such a long process. Wish I could switch my brain off lol xx

I am not sure how to fight a decision if it comes back without dla.

I have got an access card just in case! For ease of proving when dla documents were useful, but we really need the money.

Decision was made yesterday, we was unsuccessful. I am gutted. I will have no wait for a letter now and try again with hopefully more evidence once i receive it. X

Oh gosh sorry to hear this. I hate how there are so many hoops to jump through to proove our kids are disabled.

Filling in the form I realised how much my second child has high care needs (sensory/change/ clothing/food) and possibly more than child1. But child 2 isn't yet diagnosed and school wont support an application so we have zero evidence.

OutlookStalking . U r right we have to proof our kids need and proof evidence . Etc. our kids deserve DLA . Make parents life easy .

@Sha2022 I called yesterday they said it is with the decision maker and hopefully a decision would be made soon if I don’t hear anything by Thursday to call back. Also not everybody gets a text message so pretty poor really xx

From what i gatherered, it was made late yesterday. So i presume yours will be hopefully made too (fingers crossed its good news)

I can not believe the fight you have to put up sometimes. I am going to put in for a MR and be much more detailed and write down from minute to minute. If thats what it takes then so be it.
