Adult Clothes are so BORING! Where is the fun stuff?

AIBU for wanting non boring clothes? Mumsnet is insisting on advertising loads of wonderful Boden kids outfits at me, including a pink stripy cardigan with applique hamsters wearing flower hats! I want to wear things like this! It's the same everywhere, fabulous colourful kids outfits, nothing for middle aged women. Someone please start making adult clothes that are fun!

YABU - adult clothes should be sensible, navy blue or black, or perhaps a nice floral
YANBU - yep, I too would wear a reversible sequin dinosaur t shirt

ShirleyPhallus · 17/12/2021 17:09

There was a thread here about m&s putting snoopy on everything

Starcaller · 17/12/2021 17:11

Sugarhill Brighton has some good stuff. If you like funky leggings, Rainbows and Sprinkles. My dinosaur ones make my toddler v excited Grin

PickElaine · 17/12/2021 17:11

Boden stuff used to go up to age 16 and adults could wear it then. Now they only go up to age 14. There is a seven year old at my school with a green Boden coat with stars on that I particularly like. But instead I have a black coat. Sad

Classica · 17/12/2021 17:12

Popsy is full of kitsch patterns

Starcaller · 17/12/2021 17:12

And YANBU. I dress like a 3yo and it brings me joy Grin

EnotheEmu · 17/12/2021 17:12

Joanie Clothing and Popsy both spring to mind.

Classica · 17/12/2021 17:14

Joanie Clothing might be your thing too

Watching with interest 👀

I'm plus size and if I see one more hankey hem with an Eiffel Tower and a flower on it I will cry

You are looking in the wrong places …

Random selection of places I habitually look for inspiration.

Maybe Frugi, Duns, etc, could be your thing?

Ha! I'm fat, I would never fit into a 16 year old's clothes!

I do have a fabulous bright pink coat I found in a sailing shop of all places, but most of my other clothes are so dull.

I saw a lady in brussels sprouts dress the other day and stopped her to tell her it was fabulous. She made it herself though.

I love fun clothes! I already have a pair of hello kitty converse and a tigger embroidered bomber jacket! I have a sweatshirt which has a furry Teddy hanging on a washing line and I always get nice comments on it (This post is so outing to anyone who knows me Grin ) I’m in my early 50’s and at that stage where I couldn’t care less what people think. My criteria for clothes is that they are comfortable and that they make me feel happy.

Echobelly · 17/12/2021 17:16

Joe Browns
Kite (though only small adult range)
Sugarhill Brighton
Desigual

That's where I go for my garish clothes!

EnotheEmu · 17/12/2021 17:16

Run and Fly fit the bill too.

babymidgetgem · 17/12/2021 17:16

Great thread, I'm ordering a shirt and dress from Joanie clothing.Smile

ginghamstarfish · 17/12/2021 17:28

make your own? I belong to some FB sewing groups and am always amazed at the fabrics being used for adult clothes - sparkly, cartoony, dinosaurs, Harry Potter theme, sweary, and so on, not my cup of tea but the fabrics are definitely out there!
